Chapter Text
/Beep… Beep… Beep…
What is that?
Beep… Beep… Beep…
Make it stop, why won’t it stop?
Beep… Beep… Beep…
His head is killing him and that noise is making it worse.
The man lets out a soft groan between parched lips, and slowly squints his eyes open. Where is he?
“You’re awake!” Someone says to this left.
The sound surprises him and he jolts. The movement sends a sharp stabbing pain up his arm and ankle, and he winces at the throbbing sensation that follows.
“Shhh, we’ve got you,” the voice continues, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. “/Doctor, Nurse/!” The words are foreign, spoken in a language that’s not his native tongue, but he still understands their meaning.
What’s going on, where is he? Why does he need a doctor, did something–
Beep… Beep.. Beep. Beep, beep beepbeep.
He flinches upright, eyes wide and unseeing as an unfamiliar woman looms above him.
“Woah there,” she tries to shush again, but he doesn’t listen. Where is he, what have they done to him? The last thing he remembers is being ambushed and on the run, he was injured and now…?
“G-g’t off,” he coughs, throat dry and voice unused. How long has he been out?
He tries to push the woman away and get off the bed, swinging his legs over the side with a pained hiss. The room spins, but he pushes past it.
He needs to get out of here, or at least away from the woman; he needs to make a call, let someone /anyone/ know he’s alive and needs help.
But before he has a chance to fight more, there’s a stinging stab in his neck and the world blurs. He doesn’t realize he’s tumbling over until his head hits his pillow and his vision is sideways.
“L’t m’ go,” he tries to demand, but it sounds weak. “N’’d to ca’ my–” his words are cut off by a harsh cough wrecking his body and tearing the oxygen from his lungs. It takes him a few seconds to get his breathing under control, and he finishes by getting out, “family.”
“Shush,” the woman hums standing at his bedside again. A man appears beside her holding a needle and smiling down at him. “We can’t let you do that yet, there’s still a few things for us to do.”/
