Chapter Text

Hi there, welcome. And, welcome back if you're coming from the original. To start, I want to make it clear that this is a soft rewrite. I've completely cut out some characters and the story's kind of different. I announced the discontinuation of the previous story a while ago, but I really liked this idea and never truly abandoned it.

That being said, I actually pre-planned this more, so I have direction. I'll do my best to avoid plot holes - there were major ones previously.

Here's the intro from the original because it still applies:

Hello, I always like to do a little intro first.

To start, READ THE TAGS. I have literally deleted several fics because people just can’t read tags?? And then obviously they leave comments about the stuff contained in the fic and I don’t understand. So, if there’s any tags you don’t like, just don’t read.

Sorry for the little rant. I’ve just had a lot of problems with this, especially recently. So if you’re not a freak like me, don’t read. Also, if I add any new tags, I’ll address it as I go. If I find I missed something, I will add a note at the top of the chapter that led me to add it. And, if you at any point think the story is missing tags, you can let me know.

I’m fine with constructive criticism, but please don’t be mean to me. I'm sensitive.

Additionally, this is a female reader insert. Reader is lesbian and so are the interests.

This is a yandere story. It will have very disturbing elements, all of which have been tagged! Violence, gore, non con, and so on. I also want to add, this is not going to be a super smutty story. I do want to actually write something, it’ll be sprinkled in. Please, I’m begging you to read the tags.

Yes, if you feel like the writing is maybe a little familiar it’s because I put up a story that was kind of similar. I won’t say what it was called, but I did end up taking it down. If you notice recycled content it’s because it is recycled content, lol. But it’s from my own writing so it’s fine.

I completely lost direction for that story and I also received some comments. Some of them were really nice, so I feel a little guilty about abandoning it like that, but some of them not so much. It was definitely a heat of the moment thing.

That’s all, thank you. Enjoy the first chapter!

What the hell is that?! You barely have time to question it. No, there’s no time. Your legs pump in a mad sprint. You sweat profusely. You’re pretty sure it’s…a giant spider. You’re no expert, but you’re pretty sure those don’t exist.

You spare a glance backwards, nearly stumbling in the process. A scream leaves your throat, and you’re really not much of a screamer. Grotesque, spindly limbs chase after you. Rows of beady eyes are focused on you. Oh, and, the damn thing is easily eight times your size.

I’m gonna die, I’m really gonna die!

You keep running, refusing to look backwards at it. The taste of iron hits the back of your throat. It’s an unfamiliar sensation, once you recall from when you actually played sports a long time ago. That may have been your call to stop in the past, but now, it only makes you press forward.

You don’t even know where you are. You woke up in the woods, you wandered for hours. And then, out of nowhere, this thing showed up!

You continue your running, speeding up when you see people in the distance. Your heart leaps and you find the strength to pick up your pace.

They see you and the group actually starts running towards you! You run and run and run. They all stride right by you, and you don’t stop moving for a minute. You’re scared if you stop, you won’t be able to start again.

You turn your head around before slowing your pace. The spider-like creature is now in several bloody slices.

Your breath gets caught in your throat. You lean against a tree for support.

They just…just like that…?

Then, one of them begins to move towards you. She’s tall and muscular, more of a manly structure really. She has the face of a woman though, and, as she moves closer her physique tells you otherwise. Not so masculine.

Your eyes move up to hers. They’re bright, violet. A jagged scar runs across the left one. She looks like her, like Violet, from MoonScape Kingdoms!

That’s not right.

More forms approach you, and you see their faces too.

Riley?! Blair…Estelle…

You blink a few times, further stabilizing yourself against the tree. Violet places her hands on your shoulders. You look up at her slowly.

“Hey, you’re okay.”

But you’re not, how could you be?!

You open and close your mouth, but no words come out. Maybe it’s from the running, or maybe seeing all of them. You don’t know, but your vision goes dark. You feel strong arms around you and then you’re out.

You wake up in an unfamiliar room.

Eh? You look up at the ceiling. Soft hues of lavender, but primarily gold decorate the room.

Verlice. You recognize the color scheme immediately. Then, you realize you didn’t see the healer yesterday. Possibly, you are just…that unobservant. But clearly, you’re in her territory.

You would know, you’re an expert on the otome game. It’s a bit…embarrassing, but whatever. Am I really here though? What a…dream come true!

You sit up slowly, ignoring the wave of dizziness you feel once you hit ninety degrees. Without even standing you can feel the sore, tightness in your legs.

I don’t remember…the last time I ran like that, ugh…

You get up from the bed slowly and look around the room. It’s pretty…barren if you’re being honest. You don’t know who it belongs to, if it even belongs to anyone. You rub your face, still acquiring your daily senses. Your left arm tingles, must have slept on it weird…

Then, you finally get out of bed. The cool air hits your skin and you want to go right back under the blankets, but you don’t.

I wonder if…Elora’s here…

And the thought excites you. You love Elora, really, you love every single character, but her especially. You imagine what she’ll look like here. If Violet looked different, will she as well? You open the door slowly, looking back and forth before picking a random direction.

It’s clearly a mansion, only making your navigation even more difficult. It all stops when you run into a maid. She’s an older woman, if you had to guess, you’d say early sixties.

Her blue eyes light up.

“L-Lady Luella, Lady Luella!” She calls out loudly. Her hands intertwine with yours abruptly. You stiffen, a bit shocked. “Ah! You’re finally awake, you slept for so long, Y/n!” She releases your hands before embracing you. You stiffen further, confused.

“I remember you…when you were just a little baby!”

You don’t say anything, slowly wrapping your arms around her in return. At least she…smells good. She reminds me of my grandma for some reason. Though…I barely even…remember what she looked like…

Then you hear footsteps quickly approaching. The embrace ends, but before you can even blink, you’re in someone else’s arms. The figure is tall and chubby, or it at least feels like that. She’s crying too, borderline sobbing, actually.

“Oh god, oh god…” She stammers the words out between tears. You haven’t even gotten to see her face. What you can see is long locks of dirty blonde hair that reaches about to the bottom of her ribs. You remain quiet, still unsure of who this person is.

“My poor Y/n…” She hiccups. She repeats the phrase again and then one more time after that. “How I’ve missed you.”

And you stay still, not feeling much of anything. Well, that’s not true, hearing people cry always makes you want to cry too.

You finally speak once her sobbing turns into soft hiccups.

“Who…are you?”

Her movements halt before increasing again. She starts shaking like a leaf.

“Y-you…huh?” She ends the embrace, and you finally get a good look at her. Her hands grip your shoulders tightly as she leans down to be level with you. “Y/n, it’s me.” She smiles slightly, moving closer. She has long, blonde- almost brown hair, and golden eyes. You don’t recognize her at all.

“And you are…?”

Then the sobbing starts again. She pulls you back into her arms again, jamming your face into the crook of her neck.

“Your mother! I’m your mother!” She says it like you’re supposed to know. And you guess you should but, what is even going on right now?

Am I gonna get to see Elora?

“What about…Elora?”

“What? Who?”

You wake up the next morning next to the woman who claims to be your mother. And, you think she is. At least in this world. You spent the entire day yesterday with her. All she did was cry, the two of you didn’t really even talk.

But she seems more put together today. She’s already awake, staring at you. You look right back at her, not caring much.

I must have…replaced Elora? I don’t know…it’s all I can think of. Why did it have to be Elora? Couldn’t I have replaced Blair or Estelle…ugh.

“Good morning.” You greet.

She smiles widely. “Good morning.”

You continue to stare at her. She bears no resemblance to you, but she does have some resemblance to Elora. They have the same color eyes. And you imagine the same height too, but you guess there wouldn’t really be anyway to know.

Arms wrap around you again. You kind of like all the hugs though. You never received this much affection from your parents in your real life.

It’s nice.

“You say…you’re my mom.”

“I don’t say it, I know it.”

“I don’t remember you.”

“That’s okay. Don’t worry about a thing. We’ll get this all figured out.” She pauses. “Where have you…been? All this time…I couldn’t find you.”

You open and close your mouth. “I-I don’t know…I…I can’t remember…” Is all you can say. If you try to come up with something…you’ll just dig yourself into a hole. This is for the best. She wouldn’t believe me if I told her I was from the real world…

“You don’t remember…? Do you…remember anything?”

“Just the…spider two days ago. And then the people that saved me.”

“Nothing? You don’t remember anything else?”

“Well I know my name. And…” You pause. “A…garden. I remember a garden.”

“You always loved the garden, I think you’re talking about the one here. You were always…” She trails off, voice wavering. You only remembered Elora had a fascination with plants in the otome game. You had to say something, right? Would nothing have been better?

“W-What else, Y/n? You have to…remember something else…”

“It’s…I mean, the garden is so blurry, but I can see it. I don’t…I don’t remember anything else. I woke up in the woods…I didn’t know where I was.”

“Oh, honey.” She squeezes you. “It’s okay now, you’re safe, you’re home.”

“What…happened?”

“I don’t know, no one knows. Ten years ago you were just…gone. It was like you disappeared. I tucked you in for bed that night and then…in the morning you weren’t there. You were…you were only twelve then. So it…”

You stay quiet. Twelve…that makes me the same age as the real world- 22.

“I’m sorry.” Is all you can think to say.

“It’s not your fault. I’m just glad you’re home now. That’s all I care about.”

You smile warmly. She’s kind, my mother is kind.

Your mind flickers briefly to your real one. Her face swirls in odd patterns, like you can’t remember her face. It’s buried in there, but sometimes, you wish you could forget.
