It had been 5 years since the Red Army had taken over Europe with Tom having gotten eye cancer a week before Tord had taken over
Unfortunately, even though he recovered his eyes didn’t, ever since then his vision was opaque, almost like looking out of a foggy window. As for the Red army, Tom was surprised Tord didn’t have them arrest him, after all he had no trouble making anyone who spoke out disappear or get arrested for crimes they’d swear they never committed
Other than that everything was eerily normal if you ignored the soldiers constantly patrolling the streets
Tom let out a sigh as he rolled over in his bed wondering when his friends would return, they had recently started a rebel group led by Edd who was out with Matt trying to find somewhere to set up a base of operations while Tom stayed home to hopefully not rouse any suspicion should all leave together, not that he was in any shape to help. Eventually Tom felt himself slowly drifting off to sleep until suddenly a knock on the front door startled him awake.
He slowly sat up expecting to hear the sound of the door being unlocked with a spare key only to hear another knock at the door followed by the sound of a muffled voice on the other side that he couldn’t make out the words of
quietly getting out of bed Tom walked over to his bedroom door making sure to run his hand along the wall so he could find the door handle, closing the door he locked it and felt his way over to the window which he managed to get open before racing over to his closet just as the sound of a gunshot rang out through his apartment
’We know you’re in here, come out with your hands up or we’ll use force’ someone who was likely a red army soldier threatened as Tom covered his mouth and nose in an attempt to muffle the sound of his own breathing. He could feel his heart pounding as several pairs of footsteps split up around the apartment eventually arriving to his bedroom door followed by the sound of the floorboards creaking as they made their way over to his window, then to his closet door which slowly opened.
he tried to punch whoever was there in hopes of at least putting up a fight but whoever it was stepped out of the way before grabbing Tom by his arms and slamming him onto his stomach
’What did I even do? Why am I being arrested?!’ he said as someone else cuffed his hands behind his back before forcing him to his feet and towards the direction of his bedroom door
’You're under arrest for the involvement of two other individuals who were spotted in an alleyway by a concerned citizen talking about rebelling against Red leader with a group of other individuals, Now keep walking!’ they said shoving him forward
’I can’t even see where I’m going’ he complained but the soldier either didn’t care or didn’t believe him as he was forcibly dragged from the apartment building and shoved into a vehicle
Tom stayed silent as he listened to the sound of police sirens emitting from the car he was in until finally the vehicle stopped and he was led out and into the police station.
‘Inside’ the soldier escorting him said before shoving him forward causing him to nearly trip over something in the middle of the room which turned out to be a bench.
he could hear the movement of someone sitting down nearby after the cell door was locked shut causing him to warily stand up and attempt to explore his enclosure despite his hands still being cuffed behind his back as well as his barely functioning vision, carefully he crept forward until he lightly bumped against a wall of bars, then he circled the room noting that two of the walls were brick while the rest was barred with a cell door on one of the brick walls
he then made his way back over to the bench in the center of the room and sat down waiting.
(15 minutes later)
After what felt like hours Tom eventually heard the sound of a door opening and closing followed by footsteps followed by the soldier getting up from wherever they were sitting to unlock Tom’s cell
’Who’s there?!’ He said as the footsteps drew closer followed by the sound of the cell door closing and locking
‘You’re not supposed to be the one asking questions here’ warned a stern feminine voice
‘Now then, I want you to tell me what your friends, Edd Gold and Matt Lobster are planning and how many people are involved’ she demanded
’I don’t know, all they told me was that they’d be out shopping’ Tom responded
’Then why were you resisting arrest earlier’ she continued
’because I was scared’ he said
’And what do you have to be afraid of?’ She asked pacing around him
’nothing, but I thought you were intruders at first’ he responded
’Is that so? Then why did we find a phone belonging to one of your friends after searching there apartments as well, mentioning your involvement?’ she asked causing a chill to run down Tom’s spine as his eyes widened in fear
‘You're going to tell me exactly where your friends are hiding Tom, or you can tell Red Leader once you’ve been transported back to base, oh right I forgot to tell you, Red Leader gave us orders to arrest you and your friends the very moment any you stepped out of line, You however… he wants you brought to his base immediately after your arrest’ she continued as Tom’s heart raced in his chest
’And I can assure you their interrogation techniques are a bit more brutal than ours… So, where are your friends hiding out, it’s not that hard of a question’ she added
‘I-I don’t think we even have a base or safe house yet…… I don’t know I swear, they didn’t do anything…’ Tom responded quietly only to suddenly feel three pinpricks of pain followed by several volts of electricity coursing through his body making him cry out in pain
’I said where are they!’ she asked threateningly as Tom fell off the bench writhing in pain until the stun gun finally stopped electrocuting him
’I don’t know! Please don’t kill them’ Tom begged only to feel her punch him across the face
’I said tell me, or I’ll break every bone in your body’ she warned
’I just want to go home, please just make it stop… I promise I don’t know anything, please don’t send me to him… please I won’t get in his way’ Tom pleaded as he was lifted up by the front of his shirt, that’s when he suddenly felt the rage demon beginning to take over the blurry silhouette of the purple smoke obscuring what little was left of his vision.
(Edd’s pov)
Edd and Matt were racing back to the apartment making sure to stick to the alleyways and empty streets when they started to hear the sounds of gunfire and roaring followed by a gigantic purple monster backing away from around the corner and breathing fire at whoever was attacking it, then it turned towards the two of them staring them both down with it’s single eye
Edd took a step back clutching Matt’s hand as he considered making a run for it, they both knew he was possessed by a rage demon but this was one of the few times they’d ever seen it, not to mention Tom got really stressed and anxious when they asked about how he’d gotten possessed
’Tom are you in there? it’s okay, we’re here now… please just—‘ Edd started only for the monsters mouth to glow orange followed by a column of fire. Edd quickly tackled Matt to the ground feeling the flames licking his back and burning through his hoodie as Matt cried out in pain from what Edd originally thought was due to hitting the ground only to see that his friend’s face was almost entirely burnt with the worst burns being on his chin a right eye
Edd helped Matt up as the ginger covered his face with one hand his breathing growing erratic as Edd tried to lead him away, the monster attempted to follow only to stumble to the side as a grenade exploded against the side of it
’Edd, I think I need a hospital…’ Matt said shakily as the two back away
’I know, we’ll find someone to help you…… and Tom, I’m sorry’ Edd said as a pair of armored patrol car drove at the monster’s feet, one of them stopping as the soldiers inside spotted the two of them, the both of them hobbled into a nearby alleyway quickly reaching a dead end as the soldiers pursued them so Edd instructed Matt to hold onto him despite only being a few inches taller than the ginger. He then attempted to scale the back of an apartment building, only as he neared the top he suddenly felt Matt’s arms slipping from around his neck just as a group of soldiers came running down the part of the alleyway they were in
‘SHIT’ he cursed under his breath trying to grab his friend’s arm only to watch in horror as Matt fell landing on the plastic lid of a dumpster, Edd hesitated for a moment about to climb down only for a bullet to suddenly hit him in the arm causing him to cry out in pain
despite that he pulled himself onto the roof avoiding another bullet that grazed his leg
’Take this one to the hospital, we’ll continue pursuing the other one’ one of the soldiers said as Edd gritted his teeth, tears starting to form underneath his eyes
he didn’t want to leave him, especially after they left Tom who was likely already dead or worse.
Forcing himself to his feet Edd decided to keep moving thankful that he’d left Ringo at Edwardo’s.
