Chapter Text

Avid had just shown up to the undoubtedly mysterious town of Oakhurst only a few days ago.

He had already felt a sense of an unsettling presence shiver down his spine as he spotted the sliver of blue hair round the corner of his house. Scott was one of the very few people he had seen in this unsettling mess of a so-called ‘town’, if you could even call it that. Avid knew from when he first laid eyes on Scott that something was up with him. He gave off an unsettling aura that screamed “DANGER! BEWARE!” Yet nobody seemed to believe him or anything he says anymore. You go screaming about mythical beings ONE time, or twice or.. You know what? Avid was a monster hunter, he could find proof of Scott being a vampire. He just needed a bit of time, and more silver.

As Avid started to sneak around to the back of his house to see what Scott was doing, he found himself starting to notice how late it was starting to get, it would be dangerous to follow Scott alone in the darkness. He knew that. So why did his feet keep landing farther on the ground from where he was originally standing? He needed to stop and back up, he needed to. He would end up dead, or worse if he kept following the painfully slow footsteps of Scott Goldsmith just ahead of him.

“Just why are you following me Avie?”

Avid jumped more at the nickname than Scott catching Avid following him. Before he could stammer out an excuse, Scott was already standing in front of him. Eyes once blue, now a deep auburn red burning into Avid's light purple ones. As if searching for the answer in them.

“Well? Are you going to answer me or will I have to BITE it out of you?”

Avid didn't know if he should feel hurt by the obvious teasing from Scott or if he wanted to yell out ‘VAMPIRE!’ For everyone nearby to hear. But he dissided not to do either, that would only add to his reputation more. So he decides to finally speak.

“I was seeing what…uh.. The noise was..you know? It’s…scary and getting dark.”

“Hmm. I guess it is getting pretty dark out. I’m kind of scared of the dark, did you know? Would you be sooo kind as to walk me back to me and Shelby's house? You wouldn't want anything bad to happen to me, would you?”

Scott's grin starts to make Avid question why he ever came here in the first place, just as the thought gets put in his head, Scott starts to slide his cold slender fingers around Avid's wrist, eventually holding his hand.

Avid stills. A sharp, quick gasp escapes his lips. The cold of Scott's palm on Avid's is not very welcome in his pressence. But for some reason, he craves for more touch than just Scott's hand.

“I-um, sure I guess.. We wouldn't want you to be on the wrong side of a murder case, uh..haha..”

Avid's attempt at humour makes Scott let out a soft chuckle, Avid seems to snap back into reality, now taking in the surroundings around them.

His eyes widen as he realizes they are right outside the towns wall. Just how did they get here? The tug on his arm makes him remember what he was supposed to be doing, once again. He has got to stop zoning out in front of the vampire. This would have been the best time for Scott to kill him, or turn him. But he starts taking slow steps to the side of the wall with the gate. The red sky makes it fairly easy to see the walls, as well as the mobs slowly coming after him and Scott.

They both start to pick up the pace, Avid some-what dragging Scott by his hand.

As they made it to the wooden fence, Avid quickly let go of the former's freezing hand, but also missing the touch all the same.

“Well, I guess this is goodnight Scott, you can walk back to your house can’t you? Don't need help from me right?”

please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes please say yes.

“I’m sure I'll be fine from here on out, thank you for the help Avid. I very much appreciate it. Have a good night Avie. Don't let the vampires bite.”

“Mhm, yes. Yo-you too Scott.”

And as Avid walks to his house, past his housemate Drift, he starts to wonder. Scott has never been afraid of the dark?
