For Her, I Do - Max Verstappen

Summary:

When a custody battle needs a miracle, she marries one.

Aileen Whitmore has spent her whole life surviving men like her father-controlling, cruel, and rich enough to get away with it. By twenty-five, she's a brilliant tech founder, a full-time parent to her thirteen-year-old sister Ingrid and very done with the idea of ever needing anyone.

Then their grandfather decides he wants custody.

Her lawyer has one awful, perfect solution:
a two-parent household, stable and respectable in the public eye.
Translation: get married. Fast.

Fortunately, Aileen's friend Tessa - PR guru for Red Bull Racing - has the best possible candidate for a marriage of convenience.

Unfortunately... it's Max Verstappen - four-time Formula 1 World Champion, media nightmare, and the last person who wants more PR in his life.
But he despises bullies more... and he's not blind to the fear in Aileen's eyes or the way Ingrid clings to her.

The deal is simple:
a love story convincing enough to keep their family together.
No feelings. No mess. Just safety.

That plan is perfect.
Right up until the point they get punched in the face by reality.

Chapter 1: Character Introduction - The People Who Matter

Chapter Text

Some stories begin gently — with soft mornings, slow changes, quiet hearts learning to open.

This one doesn't.

This one begins with a custody threat, a family fractured by grief, and a girl who has spent half of her life keeping the world from swallowing her sister whole.

Before things become fast, messy, and tangled in the kind of love that never asked permission, there are a few people worth meeting.

Because every story is built on its characters.
And these are the ones who will change everything.

And these are the ones who will change everything

Twenty-five. Brilliant. Controlled. Far too used to surviving.

Aileen built her tech company from the ground up — algorithms, machine learning frameworks, neural-net signal mapping — all the things she understood better than people.
Since her teens, she has carried far more weight than anyone her age should.
Grief, responsibility, and the quiet terror of raising Ingrid alone.

She is sharp and fiercely loyal, with an independence that looks like steel from a distance and like exhaustion up close.

A woman who does not ask for help.
A woman who does not expect it.

Until life forces her to.

Until life forces her to

Thirteen. All heart. All fire. The reason Aileen keeps fighting.

Ingrid is a storm wrapped in a sweatshirt.
She speaks too fast when she's excited, too blunt when she's nervous, and too softly when she's scared.

She collects medical facts like other kids collect stickers, dreams too big for the world she grew up in, and clings to Aileen with the kind of devotion only born from shared loss.

She is a child who deserved safety long before she had it.
And she becomes the center of everything that follows.

And she becomes the center of everything that follows

World Champion. Private. Fierce. Not nearly as cold as people assume.

Max enters the story long before he realises, he's part of it.
A man shaped by competition, guarded by instinct, softened only around a few people.

He is quick to anger, quicker to protect, and far too honest for the world he's forced to navigate.
His life has never allowed for quiet domesticity — yet something in him responds to Aileen and Ingrid in ways he doesn't understand.

He should have been a footnote.
He becomes the turning point.

Hi😊
Before you dive in: here's the tea.

This story has been my emotional support project for the last few months.
I am not a native English speaker, so yes — typos will happen. Commas will wander. Entire words may rebel.
I use AI to polish grammar only, but the plot, characters, chaos, and feelings are 100% mine.

📌 Images used in cover & aesthetic boards:
All from Pinterest. Bless the artists. None of it is mine.
I just put them together in Canva 🙈

📌 Fictional story disclaimer:
This is pure fiction.
Any resemblance to real events or real personalities is accidental — even if some characters share names with real Formula 1 figures, their actions, personalities, and storylines are entirely made-up.
If a character accidentally looks or sounds like someone real — no they don't.
It's fiction, your honour. 🙈

📌 Vibes:
This is a slow. Slow. SLOW burn.
Like "simmering for 200k words before anyone even kisses" slow.
If you came for instant romance or fast spice... you will suffer.

But if you love emotional damage healing + found family + soft domestic longing — welcome aboard 🫶

And now the important part:

❗️DO NOT STEAL MY STORY❗️

Not the plot, not the characters, not the title.
I poured way too many hours (and tears) into this universe for someone to copy/paste it and pretend it's theirs.

Karma is real, okay? 😌✨

Thank you for reading, for commenting, for screaming in the notes — it genuinely keeps me alive.
Enjoy the chaos. 💛
