Chapter Text
Pim tugs a lazy Charlie along, clearly excited about today’s adventure. This however, isn’t a mandatory one, no, Charlie owed Pim an adventure to the Enchanted Forest for a chance to do a real quest.
He wasn’t too excited about it since last time he had a semi gay awakening and drank rat poison, but he wanted to be there for Pim.
“So, Charlie, what should we do first?”
Pim asked enthusiastically, bouncing with excitement.
“I don’t really care man, this is your thing, I said I’d stay out of it.” Charlie replied, scrolling on his phone, but the connection seems out of wack here.
Pim walks along a path, Charlie sluggishly following, looking up from his phone every so often to make sure Pim is okay, when they are stopped in their path by a man, cloaked in a blue robe, very Merlin the wizard esq.
The small pink critter looks at him incredulously, getting down on one knee, “O, grand wizard! What be your purpose for stopping us on this trail? Be you in need of- uh, sorry I can’t keep talking like that-“ Pim gets up and dusts his knees from the dirt. “What can we help you with?”
The wizard gives a patient smile, “Yes young lad, I need your help retrieving a sacred orb. The orb of infinite knowledge!”
Pim gasps, looking at Charlie with a big smile on his face. Charlie returns it, shoving his phone in his pocket to be acutely aware of the man in front of them.
“I accept this quest! Where could I begin looking for an orb of infinite knowledge?” Pim replies, bouncing a little.
“You must traverse the goblin bridge over the abysmal depths. Be sure not to fall for you will never stop. Then, once you cross, you will need to collect the sword of wisdom and slay the dragon that guards the-“
“Cool man, cross a bridge, kill a dragon, don’t die.” Charlie interrupted, getting annoyed with how long he’s taking to explain, in his defense, the wizard was talking at a very slow pace.
The wizards face contorted, but only for a moment. He looked back towards Pim, “May this be a demonic vessel that plagues you? I can be rid of him if you’d like.” The wizards hand conjured up some red magic.
“NO! No. Charlie is just a bit anxious. He means well!” Pim smiled at Charlie who glared at the wizard.
“So be it. The goblin bridge is just over that path, I shall come with you, assisting you as needed!”
The wizard said, boldly.
“Yeah, Pim, can I talk to you over here man?” Charlie points to a tree a few yards away from the wizard. Pim nods, following him.
“Dude, I do not trust this guy. He’s totally gonna betray us at the last second or something.”
Pim grabs Charlies hands, which the yellow critter didn’t expect. “Charlie, I know Mip lied to us and tried to kill the princess, but I don’t think everybody in the enchanted forest is like that!”
Pim pleads with his eyes,
“Please, can you be on your best behavior? Please?”
Charlie found it hard to say any other words than “Yeah, fine. But if he tries anything, I’mm do somma THIS,” Charlie backs up and punches the air, “AND THIS” He kicks nothing, “A-AND, ugh- oh my god.”
Pim hands him a water bottle he brought, “You shouldn’t be moving like that Charlie, you might hurt yourself.”
Charlie cant respond as he chugs the water bottle, gasping for air in between. Pim grabs his hands again, leading them back to-
“Oh, I’m sorry, what was your name?” The critter asks.
“You may call me, The Wizard.”
“Thats- the dumbest name I’ve heard in forever.”
Charlie huffs in between breaths. Then he looks down at Pim and says, “Uh, but it’s a cool… title or whatever.”
His friend gives him an earnest smile, turning to The Wizard and following him towards the goblin bridge.
Charlie gets a bad feeling in his stomach, but pushes it down, it could just be lunch.
He follows along, trailing behind, making sure his friend is safe and having fun.
