Work Text:
I walk outside my home, Regto said the sun was good for me, and maybe even find some friends to talk to instead of being all ‘gloom and doom’.
Sighing, I use my gloved hand to shade my eyes. It's so bright out here compared to my home, which was dim with dim lights all over. Here there are birds flying and singing their songs, the dead leaves on the ground swaying with the slight breeze, the houses that mostly sit empty other than a few people who seem to laugh too loud.
Walking around I notice a few kids, they are laughing their heads off and screaming with delight as they play with an old soccer ball.
Where did they get it?
No idea.
I'm about to go up to them, maybe talk to them and see if I could play to, only because Regto has been trying to get me to interact with anyone my age who might become a life long friend someday, but before I can even say how they all run away, screaming their heads of in terror.
All but one girl with short brown hair and brown soft eyes stays, she seems confused and hurt that they left, disgusted even.
That shocked me, but what shocked me more was the fact she walked towards me with a smile of warmth, like I'm not an ugly monster, or a killer's son, like I'm a person who deserves kind things.
That, made me confused.
The girl lends out her hands, “hi, im Chiwa, are you Rudo? Everyone seems to talk about you like your a freak, but you seem fine to me!” Chiwa states with a face that only says she is not lying.
I can feel my eyes water, she is so nice compared to everyone else, how can someone react this way knowing who my parents are and what they did?
But I push away the thoughts, I don’t want to ruin the chance of having a close friend to stay by my side after all.
I take the hand, “h-how do you know my name?” I ask, guesses already lined up, I should know this, how can a child whose parents are famous for all the wrong reasons not be known throughout the sphere?
Her smile is plastered on again, although seeming uneasy, “everyone is still talking about the day your father killed half of us, everyone remembered your name.”
“Oh..”
“Wanna play ball?”
“Uh- sure!”
We spent the rest of the day in fits of giggles as we played different games, and it was fantastic.
I can’t wait to tell Regto about this!
“Regto guess what!? I did it! I did it! I made a friend that won’t leave!”
