Work Text:
As soon as December approaches, everything at Hogwarts descends into chaos. Christmas decorations appear overnight, likely done by the House Elves and their magic.
Even the common rooms get their own Christmas tree and other Christmas decorations.
Each common room's Christmas tree matches the colors of each house.
The occupants at Hogwarts wake to Christmas decorations, and the younger students love them as they are breathtaking.
But this brings something that even the teachers despise and some students as well, except for Dumbledoor.
Dumbledoor just smiles and eats another lemon drop as he watches the chaos unfold with an annoying twinkle in his eyes.
Much to the chagrin of the professors and the older students.
No matter how much the professors complain about the magical mistletoe, Dumberdoor just chuckles and offers them soothing tea.
Much to the professor's despair.
The bane of the older students and the professor’s existence is the magical mistletoe that appears out of nowhere and immediately traps them in a magical barrier.
Not letting anyone leave until someone kisses them.
It causes a lot of drama and chaos.
The Weasley twins enjoy it as they also place bets with the other Gryffindor students on who will become the mistletoe’s victims and whether those trapped by the magical mistletoe will become a couple or not.
Some students miss classes altogether or arrive late because the magical mistletoe traps them in the barrier.
Much to Harry’s dismay, a lot of the female population of Hogwarts trap themselves under the mistletoe in hopes of Harry kissing them.
Hermione snorted when he explained his dismay to his friends.
Harry never saw or understood how attractive he is, much to his friends’ amusement.
The girls and a couple of boys at Hogwarts swoon whenever they catch sight of Harry’s beautiful emerald eyes, his hair, which always looked wind-swept even though he thought his hair had a mind of its own, and his gorgeous smile.
The worst cases were Ginevra Weasley and Romilda Vane deliberately putting themselves under the magical mistletoe over and over again, hoping Harry would kiss them and start dating them.
Harry noticed the pattern after day one, and they kept doing it every few days as they couldn’t always get caught by the magical mistletoe.
Ginevra’s obsession with the Boy Who Lived and her fantasies of becoming Mrs. Potter. But she has a rival in Romilda Vane, who was just as obsessed with Harry.
Whenever they are trapped within the magical barriers, they always look around frantically for Harry. But it was in vain.
Unbeknownst to them, Harry Potter would disappear under his father's invisibility cloak and use the Marauder's Map to sneak around the castle, and find the hidden passageways to get where he needed to go so he wouldn’t get caught or seen by the two girls.
Or be anywhere near them at all when they got caught by the magical mistletoe.
Ron, being Ron, did not understand his best mate's aversion to his sister and the many girls who were dying for Harry to show any interest in them or notice their affections for him.
Even after Harry had explained his dismay repeatedly to Ron and Hermione.
Hermione would offer some comforting words and nod along.
Though her attentions weren’t always there.
Harry knew something was bothering her, but he couldn’t figure out what was bothering the smartest witch of their year.
Harry promised himself that he would be there for Hermione when she was ready to open up about what was bothering her.
“What's up with you avoiding Ginny, mate?” Ron asked as Harry became visible again.
Ron recently saw his sister stuck under the magical mistletoe, but he was rushing to get to his Potion class, so he did not stick around to see if anyone would free her.
Not seeing Ginny’s crestfallen face and annoyance since it was her boyfriend, Michael Corner, who freed her from the magical mistletoe grasp.
“Mate, I view her as a sister, and I just don’t really have the time for a relationship right now. With my detentions with Umbridge, running the DA, and studying for our OWLS. She also looks like my mother, and I don’t have an Oedipus Complex. Also, Ginny is currently in a relationship. I thought she was still dating Michael Corner from Ravenclaw?” Harry asked, faking his confusion as he did not want to deal with Ron’s temper.
“Don’t remind me! I don’t like Corner dating my sister,” Ron's face dropped into a scowl as he growled out as he stormed ahead of Harry and Hermione.
Harry and Hermione shared a look before rushing to catch up to Ron’s retreating figure.
Harry always thought that Ginny started dating other people to get his attention or make him jealous, but he never voiced that thought to Ron or Hermione.
But whenever Ginny tells Ron and Hermione that she is dating someone new.
Harry would smile and say, “Congrats, Ginny, I am happy for you.”
Harry often sees Ginny's face get a flash of disappointment when he doesn’t react the way she wants him to, before she puts a fake smile back on her face as she chats with Hermione.
It was well known that Ron did not like any of Ginny’s boyfriends.
Ron and Ginny were well known for arguing whenever Ron caught his sister heavily making out with her latest boyfriend.
Their shouting matches could be heard throughout the hallways, costing Gryffindor a significant number of house points, especially if it was Snape who came across Ron and Ginny in a shouting match.
Which left both in bad moods.
After Harry’s disastrous relationship with Cho.
After her then-boyfriend, Cedric, was killed when Voldemort ordered one of his Death Eaters during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament.
Harry and Cho only dated for a little while, which ended just as quickly as it started.
He did not enjoy his kiss with Cho.
So he decided to remain single until he figured out what he really wanted in a relationship and whether he was still attracted to females.
It's been a few days, and the magical mistletoe has been running rampant and causing chaos.
Causing a lot of relationship drama and random pairings with the students, and even the facility wasn’t immune to the magical mistletoe.
Harry shuddered when he remembered that Professor Snape and Professor Sprout had been caught under the magical mistletoe recently.
Some students, including Harry, witness Professor Snape and Professor Sprout kiss.
The kiss itself was chaste and quick. Professor Sprout and Professor Snape were not in a good mood after that.
This satisfied the magical mistletoe enough to release them from the magical barrier.
“No one shall speak about this, and if I catch you, you’ll get two months of detention scrubbing potion cauldrons and preparing the grossest and slimiest potion ingredients.” Professor Snape’s silky voice echoed in the hallways as he stormed away.
This caused some students to scatter out of the way as Snape stormed past them.
They did not want to catch any more scathing comments from Professor Snape.
It did, however, provide some amusing entertainment for the other students this morning.
Recently, it caught Draco Malfoy, who got stuck under the mistletoe with Blaise Zabina.
Which caused Pansy Parkinson to storm off in a jealous rage.
It was well known that Pansy wants to be Lady Malfoy, but sadly, it is not in the cards for Pansy, as Draco is in a betrothal contract to Astoria Greengrass.
But today, it was Ron who had gotten caught under the magical mistletoe this afternoon, and Lavender Brown made her crush on Ron well known by snogging him in front of the whole school.
Ron had gotten caught by the magical mistletoe when he entered the Great Hall for Dinner.
Ron ran into the barrier because he did not notice the magical mistletoe that was floating above his head.
But Ron was not paying attention to his surroundings.
He was talking to Harry about Quidditch, while Hermione was busy reading her Ancient Runes textbook.
BBBAAAMMMM!
The noise attracted the attention of many students in the Great Hall.
Which zeroed in on the three members of the Golden trio entering the Great Hall, the Great Hall’s doors closing behind them with a soft thud.
“OW! What the fuck!!” Ron shouted as he grabbed his nose and face.
Rubbing the pain away from walking straight into the magical barrier.
“Um, Ron mate, look up,” Harry advised Ron, his own eyes staring up at the magical mistletoe that was floating above Ron’s head.
Harry let out the breath that he didn’t even know he was holding as he felt instant relief that he wasn’t the one who ended up under the magical mistletoe.
Especially when he saw Ginny and Romilda’s disappointed expressions on their faces
“Oh bloody hell,” Ron shouted out as his eyes bugged out of his eye sockets as he looked at the magical mistletoe above his head.
His face showed his shock and astonishment as he was not expecting to get caught by the magical mistletoe.
Harry saw Lavender, who was already sitting at the Gryffindor’s table, rise from the table and run towards Ron.
Ron gulped as he watched Lavender run towards him.
She reached for him as she got closer to Ron.
Lavender has been waiting patiently to confess to Ron, and she finally got the perfect opportunity.
Lavender grabbed Ron by the lapels of his hand-me-down school robes and pulled him down so she could snog the daylights out of Ron.
Harry became uncomfortable when he heard Ron moan as Lavender deepened the kiss.
Harry turned his emerald eyes to Hermione, who looked like she swallowed a lemon.
Her brows pinched, chocolate brown eyes darkened as she stared at Ron and Lavender's very public snog.
Her face turned into a nice strawberry red as she turned her back and immediately left the Great Hall in a rush.
Her eyes filled with tears.
Since Harry lost his appetite, he did not want to sit at the Gryffindor table, especially when he saw Ginny and Romilda’s flirtatious smiles.
He rushed after Hermione, not wanting to keep watching his best friend’s intensifying snog with Lavender go any further, as it was bordering on being inappropriate by the moans they both were making.
This caused some cheers and groans around the other tables as Harry saw some people exchanging some galleons.
Thankfully, Umbridge was not there, as she was too busy writing another educational decree in her hideous pink office.
Harry, however, did see Snape and McGonagall swoop down on Ron and Lavender as they continued their makeout.
Harry did not want to stick around, so with that, he quickly left to search for Hermione.
Once Harry was out of the Great Hall, he pulled his father’s invisibility cloak out and put it on.
He quickly moved down the halls, his footsteps echoing out.
Once he reaches one of the many alcoves that hide him from view of the hallways.
After he pulls off his invisibility cloak, Harry reaches into his bag and pulls out the Marauder’s map.
“I solemnly swear I’m up to no good,” Harry whispered, watching the map appear, showing everything within Hogwarts.
Kneeling to the ground, Harry lays the Marauder’s Map flat out, his eyes roaming across the Marauder’s Map looking for Hermione’s name dot.
He knew that Hermione couldn’t have gotten too far unless she used one of the hidden passages that he showed both Hermione and Ron.
Harry finally found Hermione's dot on the map.
This showed that she was on the sixth floor, her name dot was moving towards the seventh floor.
The Southwest tower, which houses the Gryffindors' Common Room.
“Mischief managed,” Harry quickly whispered as he put the Marauder’s Map back into his bag.
Grabbing the invisibility cloak off the floor, he quickly stepped into the empty hallway under his cloak.
Rushing towards the Southwest wing of the castle to get to Gryffindor's common room.
The moving staircase, for once, was not hindering Harry from reaching the seventh floor.
Making it closer to the Gryffindor tower, Harry pulled the invisibility cloak off, gently putting the cloak into his school bag as he turned the corner where the Fat Lady’s painting was located.
Harry approached the Fat Lady’s portrait.
“Hello, dear, what's the password?” the Fat Lady asked as she smiled at Harry.
“Animagus,” Harry told this week's passwords to gain entry to the Gryffindors Common Room.
The Fat Lady’s portrait slid open, allowing Harry to enter the red and gold common room.
Warmth could be felt on Harry’s skin as the common room's fires were burning, making the common room feel cozy and inviting.
Stepping into the circular room, Harry began to look around the common room in search of Hermione.
Harry spotted Hermione sitting in the farthest corner of the common room, in one of the comfortable armchairs scattered around.
Some tears slipped down Hermione’s cheeks as she let out some involuntary sniffles.
Harry quietly approached Hermione.
“Hey Mione, do you want to talk or do you want to be left alone?” Harry quietly asked as he took a seat on the armchair’s arm.
Harry gave Hermione space and a few moments to formulate words.
Hermione sniffled before speaking, “I’m okay. I think I might just head to bed early.”
“Alright, but if you ever need to talk, I’m here for you,” Harry said as he got up from the armchair.
Hermione stood up and gave Harry a quick hug.
“Goodnight, Harry,” Hermione softly said during their hug.
“Goodnight, Mione,” Harry called out as he watched her slowly walk up the steps towards the girls' dormitory.
Harry then took the vacant armchair that Hermione once occupied.
Harry then turned to look at the fire that was roaring in the Gryffindor’s common room.
Sinking into the comfortable cushions of the armchair, Harry’s emerald green eyes turned towards the fire.
Staring into the flames, Harry began to think for a good long while.
Leading to the particular moment that happened in the Great Hall
“I suspected that both Ron and Hermione had romantic feelings for each other. But I guess not? At this point, it's hard to tell. I wonder if Hermione is keeping in touch with Krum? I knew that Lavender had a crush on Ron, but I didn’t think she would act on it. But she did sort into the Gryffindor house, so it makes sense that she would do something bold, especially if she were handed a perfect opportunity to do so. ” Harry thought as he stared into the flames.
Harry's body melted further into the comfy cushions as the fire's warmth made him drowsy.
Letting out a yawn, Harry’s eyes began to droop from exhaustion.
He stood from the armchair.
He began his journey up the stairs to reach the boy's side of the dormitory to his dorm room.
Passing
The dorm room that he shared with Ron, Seamus, Dean, and Neville.
Dean, Harry’s, Seamus, and Neville's side of the dorm room was neat.
While Ron’s section of the dorm looked like the Bombarda spell had gone off.
Clothes were thrown everywhere, and there were even piles of papers, assignments, and school books covering every inch of the floor.
Harry had no idea how Ron managed to get in and out of his bed without slipping or falling over.
Harry mused as he grabbed his plaid PJs and headed to the boys' dormitory bathroom to brush his teeth and change into his PJs.
He knows that the rest of his roommates should be back soon.
Climbing into his bed, Harry shut the curtains and placed a quick Silencio on them, as all the boys did to sleep due to Ron's snoring.
It's the only way to get any sleep, as Ron’s snoring sounds like the Sonorus charm is being used.
That’s how loud Ron’s snoring is.
Harry climbed under the covers and lay down in his bed.
As he was drifting off to sleep, he thought.
“I’m kind of glad that I haven't gotten stuck under the bloody mistletoe, yet. I just got a feeling that it isn’t going to be the case. I guarantee that I will eventually get caught by that blasted mistletoe. I just hope that I don’t have to kiss Gineva or Romilda.”
With that, Harry fell asleep for the night, and for once, he didn’t have any nightmares.
…… Time Skip……
Harry woke up early in the morning feeling refreshed, which had not happened in a long time.
With the nightmares that have plagued Harry ever since the end of the Triwizard Tournament, Harry has been waking up screaming.
Thankful he never woke the Drusleys or his roommates, as he has become quite proficient in casting silencing charms, silently and wandless at times, he wouldn’t wake anybody up.
Harry did not want to deal with the Drusleys at all.
Hopping out of his bed, he grabbed a clean set of boxers, socks, and a school uniform as he made his way to the showers.
Once Harry reached the bathroom, he managed to silently cast a Tempus spell to see what time it was.
Seeing the time is 6:30 A.M.
Seeing that he had time before breakfast, seeing as the Great Hall doors don’t open until 7:00 a.m.
Harry decided to take his time getting ready.
Harry let the shower water warm up before stepping in.
Harry let out a sigh as the hot water descended on his body.
Scrubbing his lavender and cypress shampoo into his hair.
Harry then grabbed his favorite scented body wash.
His body wash is scented with lavender, cedar, and cypress.
He then quickly washed off and stepped out of the shower, grabbing hold of his bath towel.
Harry quickly dried off and got dressed.
Just in time for Harry to watch his best mate stumble into the bathroom.
Harry instantly noticed the massive love bite on Ron’s neck.
Harry quickly averted his eyes.
He did not want to know.
“Morning, Harry. Where did you go last night?” Ron asked while he let out a yawn.
“I felt exhausted last night, so I decided to turn in early,” Harry replied, giving his friend a small smile.
“I’ll save you a seat at breakfast,” Harry shouted over his shoulder as he stepped out of the dormitory bathroom and returned to his shared dorm room to pick up his bag.
Double-checking to make sure that he has his father’s invisibility cloak and the Marauders' map inside his school bag.
Harry then descended the stairs to reach the common room.
Once Harry set foot in the common room, he began searching for Hermione.
Spotting Hermione sitting on the small couch that was close to the common room's fireplace.
Harry quickly made his way towards Hermione, especially when he caught the approaching figures of Ginny and Romilda in the corner of his eyes.
“Morning Mione, did you sleep okay?” Harry asked as Hermione looked up from her Ancient Rune textbook.
Harry noticed that Hermione's eyes were red-rimmed and puffy, and she plastered a fake smile.
“Morning, Harry. I slept fine. Shall we leave to get some breakfast?” Hermione asked as she stood up from the couch.
“Yeah, let's go, I am starved,” Harry answered as he followed Hermione out of the portrait hole.
But Harry had a feeling in his gut that today might not end well.
“Let's just hope today is not the day that I end up under the magical mistletoe. I don’t think it would end well. I can see Ginny and Romilda turning it into a bloodbath and others fighting to get the chance to kiss me.” Harry thought as he and Hermione headed to breakfast.
But unbeknownst to Harry, in a few hours, his wish to not be stuck under the magical mistletoe went unanswered.
……. A Few Hours Go By …….
Harry, Hermione, and Ron were heading towards the Dungeons for their potions class.
Harry was tuning out Ron and Hermione's argument.
“Why should I help you, Ronald!! It's not like you listen to me anyway.” Hermione’s voice had a sharp edge to it.
“Woman, I have no idea what your problem is today,” Ron started, only to be interrupted.
“I’m saying that you need to start doing your own work and stop being an oblivious fool!” Hermione shouted as she stormed away, causing Ron to chase after her, shouting just as loudly as Hermione.
Leaving Harry behind.
Harry sighed as he felt a pounding headache beginning.
All morning, Hermione has been snappish with Ron, and it came to a boiling point when Ron asked Hermione for help with his essay that he did not finish for charms, which was due the next day.
But unbeknownst to Harry, as he was too busy thinking, that magical mistletoe popped into existence.
Floating above the chosen one’s head.
Until it was too late, Harry walked straight into the magical barrier.
Which caused him to fall on his arse and let out a groan of pain.
Harry’s eyes widen in horror.
“¡No, no, no, no, no!!” Harry began chanting in his head as he dared to look above his head to find the sprigs of magical mistletoe floating above him.
He let out an explosion of crude words.
It felt like it was hours for Harry was stuck in the same spot.
Before Harry heard steps coming in his direction.
Harry began praying to the universe that it was not Ginny or Romilda.
“Well, well, what do we have her?” A deep voice spoke.
The deep male voice caused Harry to whip his head up so fast to see Marcus Flint, a former Slytherin.
“What are you doing here? I thought you graduated. Unless you have to repeat the seventh year?” Harry questioned.
This caused Marcus to let out a deep growl, which caused goosebumps to break out on Harry’s skin and to shift uncomfortably.
To Harry’s horror, hearing Marcus growl caused his dick to half-harden.
The growl sounded primal, which turned Harry on.
“To answer your stupid question, Potter, I am here assisting Professor Babbling before I start my career in Ancient Runes. But seeing that a pipsqueak like you wouldn’t grasp the basics of Runes.” Marcus growled out as he inched closer and closer to Harry.
Marcus's brows arched as he looked around the lone Gryffindor. He noticed that Harry was by himself, which was often unusual.
Normally, Harry had the Weasley and his mudblood friend with him.
“Potter, where's your little friends?” Marcus asked as he started getting closer and closer to Harry.
This caused Harry to back up until he could no longer back up, hitting the magical barrier that the wretched magical mistletoe erected.
“Class, we were heading to potions. But ummm, I got caught by the magical mistletoe…” Harry murmured.
His emerald green eyes avoided looking directly at Marcus's dark blue eyes.
Which caused Marcus to scowl.
Not liking how Harry was avoiding eye contact.
Marcus’s body was now pressed up against Harry Potter's body.
One of Marcus’s large hands gripped Harry’s chin to make Harry look at him.
“What was that little lion? I could not hear you.” Marcus softly spoke.
His deep voice sent shivers down Harry’s body.
The grip on Harry’s chin was not rough.
It was actually quite gentle, which shocked Harry as he knew Marcus during his Quidditch days, where Marcus played dirty and aggressively.
Gulping, Harry stared into Marcus' dark blue eyes, licking his lips.
Marcus saw the movement that drew his attention towards Harry’s lips.
“Class, we were heading to potions. But I got caught by the bloody magical mistletoe.” Harry said louder for Marucs to hear.
This caused Marcus to smirk, pushing one of his knees between Harry’s legs.
Marcus could feel Harry’s half-hard dick.
This caused Marcus to bring his mouth to Harry’s ear.
“Does the little lion need a kiss to save himself from the clutches of the magical mistletoe. I bet you have people lining up just to kiss you. Why not kiss the she weasel?” Marcus whispered into Harry’s ear.
Which caused Harry to jerk away and glare at Marcus.
“Why does everyone think I have an Oedipus Complex?” Harry questioned as his face showed his displeasure and disgust.
This surprised Marcus when he saw the look of pure disgust on Harry’s face. Who opened his mouth to ask,
“What the bloody hell is an Oedipus Complex??”
Harry groans before answering, “I don’t know how to explain it, but it's something that muggles created. Ginny is nothing but a sister to me, and she looks like my mother. I am not interested in her in any romantic sense. Now, are you going to keep asking me questions, or are you going to help me get out of the magical mistletoe? I really need to get to class and face Professor Snape's ire.”
This surprised Marcus as he was not expecting that answer.
Everyone assumed that Harry would start dating Ginny, as it was well known that Ginny said that she would be the future Lady. Potter.
Grinning, Marcus leaned in close.
“Hmm, I’m not convinced that I should help you, Potter. Maybe I’ll just leave you here, and your fan club can fight among themselves on who could kiss the boy who lives. ” Marcus whispered into Harry’s ear.
His breath tickled Harry's neck as Marcus moved his mouth from Harry’s ear to Harry’s unblemished neck.
Marcus brushed his lips across Harry’s sensitive neck, causing him to moan.
This caused Harry to whine when Marcus took a couple of steps away from Harry.
Harry saw Marcus about to leave, and Harry really didn’t want to be stuck under the magical mistletoe for the whole day.
Digging deep to find his Gryffindor’s courage, Harry lunged forward, grabbing Marcus by his wizarding robes.
Pulling Marcus down, Harry pressed his lips to Marcus.
Marcus's eyes widened in shock before closing his eyes.
Marcus began to kiss Harry back.
Harry’s lips were soft against Marcus's slightly chapped lips.
Marcus was leaning his 6’2 height down so he could kiss Harry. While Harry’s 5’5 height had him standing on his tippytoes.
But Marcus wanted to deepen the kiss, so he grabbed Harry under his thigh.
This made Harry let out a startled sound from his throat when Marcus lifted Harry Potter and pressed him against the Hogwarts Dungeon walls.
Marcus nipped Harry’s lips, which caused Harry to gasp.
This allowed Marcus to sneak his tongue to explore Harry’s mouth.
Harry let out a moan as he tried to kiss Marcus back, clumsily.
Marcus pulled away from Harry’s mouth to return his mouth to Harry's neck.
Marcus couldn’t help mark up Harry’s neck.
Feeling possessive, Marcus bit and sucked harder, wanting people to know that Harry was his as he sucked more hickies onto Harry’s neck.
Harry moaned as he moved his head away to give Marcus more room. Harry felt pleasure that was running through his veins.
Marcus growled as he nipped Harry’s neck, causing more hickies to bloom on Harry’s neck.
Marcus wanted to keep this going, but they will have to eventually pull away from each other.
Marcus pulled away after he gave one last chaste kiss to Harry’s lips.
“As much as I would love to continue this little lion. I think we should stop for now. Classes should be ending soon.” Marcus said as Harry let out a whine when Marcus pulled away, gently setting Harry’s legs down so his feet could touch the floor.
Marcus's body was no longer pressing against Harry.
“See you soon, little lion,” Marcus whispered. With that, Marcus turned and stormed past Harry.
Leaving behind a breathless and panting Harry, whose iris was swallowing the green of his eyes completely.
Harry’s legs felt like they were made out of jelly.
Leaning against the dungeon wall, Harry brought a hand to his lips.
While he stared out of space, he did not notice that Slytherin and Gryffindor's students had left the Potions class until he heard Hermione and Ron.
Who managed to appear right in front of him.
“Harry, mate, why did you not come to class?? Are you okay? Your face is very red?” Ron asked.
Causing the blush to spread to his ears and lower chest.
Making Harry look like a tomato.
Hermione was studying Harry.
“Well, whatever caused Harry not to come to Potions, he can tell us when we head to charms!” Hermione explained as she grabbed Harry and began to drag him away.
Not waiting for Ron to catch up.
Harry let a smile bloom across his face as he thought about Marcus' parting words.
He couldn’t wait for the soon.
