Chapter Text
[Captain Marvel POV]
You flew through the air, heading to the location given by Ulysses whilst he was considering a choice given to him. A choice you had no knowledge of. That would be handled later, for now you had a mission. An unknown assailant was planning to level the United States using an experimental weapon. Ulysses was unable to give any details of who this person was but according to his vision, the person would activate the weapon in three days. You wouldn’t let that happen.
You landed on the ground, outside the building the person resided in. You smirked, this wouldn’t be so difficult. Take out the criminal, deactivate the weapon, day saved. You punched the door down, multiple cameras watching you as you entered. You made sure to wave with a smirk as you walked.
[? Pov]
You sat in your chair, watching as Captain Marvel walked into the building as though she owned the place. Good.
“Activate the defenses. We can’t have her thinking we’re rude hosts.” You said to your computer.
“Yes sir. Defenses activated.” The computer replied. You watched as countless guns, flamethrowers, any weapon you could think of, appeared out of the wall and began to fire upon Captain Marvel. As expected, she was unphased by the attempt.
[Captain Marvel POV]
Once again, the villain proves to be a disappointment. Such mediocre means to defend an all powerful weapon only made you laugh. Many times, you have been warned that your cockiness would be the end of you and yet... when idiots use such means to attack you, you can’t help but be cocky.
With one concentrated blast, you destroyed every weapon in the room, leaving nothing but smoking pieces of metal.
“If that’s all you got, this will be over before breakfast.” You taunted.
[? POV]
“You’re confidant. I like that.” You said over the comms.
“Why not speed things up, huh? Come out and surrender and you’ll get a lighter sentence.” Captain Marvel offered.
What a fool, she was. “I don’t think so. I shall see this through to the end and you... Can. Not. Stop. Me.” You replied, turning off the comms.
“Ready the chamber.” You said to the computer.
“Of course, sir.” A moment passed. “Chamber ready to activate. Simply give the order sir.”
“Once she is in position.” You replied, continuing to watch as Captain Marvel walked through several rooms, destroying the defenses as she walked with a cocky smirk on her face.
[Captain Marvel POV]
You enter another room, this one was completely empty.
“Nothing else to try? No more defenses? Are you surrendering?” You asked.
The comm turned on. “No. Just another part of my plan. Hope you enjoy it.”
You shook your head in annoyance. Why can’t these idiots just accept that they’ve lost? You continued into the room, nothing but the sound of your footsteps echoing off the walls. Suddenly the doors were slammed shut, holes opened on the walls.
“Oh? This is new.” You muttered to yourself. Suddenly a strange gas poured into the room. You took a deep whiff of the gas before chuckling. “Is this supposed to kill me? It’s not going to work.” You spoke.
You continued, walking to the door on the other side of the room. With one punch, the door crashed to the ground, a figure wearing a mask and a black longcoat sitting in a chair behind some glass.
[? POV}
You press a button, turning off the gas. It wouldn’t be long now. “Captain Marvel, how nice of you to join me. Would you like a drink? I have water.” You taunted.
“I think I’ll have you in handcuffs with a side of victory.” Captain Marvel said, cracking her knuckles. She threw a punch, missing your face by several inches. She continued to throw punches until she decided to shoot forth a beam of energy. The blast destroyed your equipment.
“That wasn’t cheap, you know.” You said in a neutral tone.
“That’s too bad.” Captain Marvel said.
She threw another punch, this time it landed... but it did nothing.
“Wha...?” Captain Marvel was baffled. She threw another punch... nothing.
“That was quicker than I had calculated.” You said, throwing a punch of your own. Your punch landed right at her nose, causing it to bleed.
Captain Marvel was speechless.
“How surprising that one single punch is enough to shut you up.” You taunted.
Captain Marvel threw more punches, each missing. She then lifted her arm up, aiming it squarely at you. She seemed to focus... but nothing happened. You grabbed her arm and twisted, causing her to scream in pain before you tossed her down the hall.
She began to drag herself down the hall towards the opening she had made before.
“That’s it. Crawl away. Just like he did.” You called out, slowly following behind.
[Captain Marvel POV]
Got to get outside... call for backup. What the hell did this guy do? Why can’t you use your powers? You had managed to drag yourself outside, activating your communicator.
“This is Captain Marvel... come in... I repeat, this is Captain Marvel, is anyone there?” You spoke to the communicator.
“What’s wrong? Got no friends to come to your rescue? Imagine how he felt when you murdered him.” The man spoke, walking up to you.
“What the hell are you talking about?” You demanded.
The man landed a swift kick to your face, sending you back a few feet.
You opened your eyes, the man looming over you. He crouched down before tapping a bit of his mask. Once the mask opened, you were shocked at the face you saw.
“Hello Carol. Missed me?” He spoke.
