Chapter Text
With her last strength, Mega Dragalge was able to shoot her final sludge bomb towards Mega Clefable.
The attack impacted on its target.
And with that, it was over.
Lebanne had won.
“YES!” Lebanne shouted with joy, “I DID IT! I FINALLY WON!” Her excitement drowned her whole body, she needed a physical activity to free herself from so much emotion and so she started to jump.
While the dragon woman was so busy with her victory, she completely forgot about her opponent, Jacinthe.
She looked at the hyperactive woman with a soft surprising expression, she was not unfamiliar with the feeling of losing, as that meant her rival in battle was a unique trainer she wanted to have an eye on for future battles, it was an exciting feeling.
Then why this time she felt like a part of her was about to get lost forever?
Her subconscious knew why, but her conscious could only smile.
She returned her dearest Clefable to her pokeball, thanking her for her great effort, she would make sure all her pokemon would have a perfect meal after all of this.
Lebanne kept shouting and hugging her Mega Dragalgue with a wide, full of sharp teeth smile. She didn't realize Jacinthe was by her side until the fae woman spoke.
“Merveilleux, Lebanne, that was a splendid battle, you certainly had been training since the last time we battled.”
Lebanne returned Dragalge to her pokeball, she finally acknowledged Jacinthe by giving her a small smile.
“Y-yes, my lady. I had been battling with Miss Harmony a few times thanks to the infinite Z-A games.” She scratched her head with nervousness, her honey eyes were focused on Jacinthe.
Jacinthe smiled at the view of those eyes.
She would miss them.
But a bet is a bet and she was a woman of words.
“Well, Lebanne, it was a pleasure to meet you.” Jacinthe gave one of her usual smiles.
Lebanne opened her mouth in shock. “Huh?”
“Do not tell me you have forgotten about it, my dear, our bet.”
Lebanne stood there, a silly expression in her face for almost a whole minute until it hit her.
“O-oh! R-right… Of course.” She tried to put a confident smile on her face, if she succeeded or not, it was up for debate. “Heh, I guess I'm finally free from you.”
Jacinthe gave a genuine giggle, one that was followed by Lebanne soon after.
“Well,” Jacinthe started, “You know where your things are, you can go and get them right now if you wish.”
Not giving Lebanne the time to respond, she turned her back on her and walked from the battlefield of the hotel, entering in the elevator of the room.
“Have a good life, Lebanne, adieu.” The elevator door closed, leaving both alone in their own world..
For a few minutes, Lebanne couldn't move, she looked at the elevator with an unsure expression, she was fidgeting with the pokeball of her Dragalge.
What was wrong with her? She has been waiting for this day since she lost that stupid bet she made two years ago. Look at her running her mouth and paying the consequences of her own actions.
Maybe… Maybe it was the exhaustion of the battle… Yeah! That was it, she was too tired, Jacinthe was objectively a strong trainer and her fairy types had never been easy against her dragon types.
This strange feeling on her chest was just exhaustion, that had to be it.
Ignoring the whole mess that was her brain, she went to her room in the hotel.
She thought maybe she would find Jacinthe in the way but she didn't… Why did she think that? Her brain was really tired indeed.
Once she got into her room, she carefully took off her maid uniform and put it on the bed. She looked at it for a few seconds with her honey eyes.
So this was really over, huh? That was… Fine.
She hated the maid uniform anyway, she was glad that was gone now.
She never got rid of her punk clothes she wore back in the day, a cool black jacket with some pants that clearly needed a hand for all the holes in it, but they were hers, it was fine.
A memory got into her brain, Jacinthe offering to send them to be fixed by probably a rich friend of hers, but Lebanne rejected it, she only wore them on her off days, did it really matter that much?
Well, clearly Jacinthe cared and by the next day she found in her wardrobe a whole bunch of punk clothes, exactly her taste. And after that she didn't wear the same thing on her days off.
She would need to take a lot of those, she would need them now.
Housing would not be a problem, she was sure Team MZ would take her in the hotel for a few days, while she looked for a job and an apartment.
At least if she didn’t find something else, the maid thing would look good on her resume, though she was sure the pay would be so, so much lower.
Lebanne took her suitcase and put the essentials, clothes, her savings, a few cool stuff from the hotel like the soap and a silly Skrelp plushie Jacinthe gave her a few months ago.
Before locking at the door behind her, she looked at the room one more time. This hotel, this place, she, all of this felt a little like home, even if she didn’t want to admit out loud, she got used to all of this, can you really blame her?
But it did not matter, because this has been what she looked for, she just needed a few days to completely forget about all of this and be the person she used to be again.
She locked the door and walked away to the entrance of the hotel.
Lebanne wondered if she would see Jacinthe on her way out.
She did not.
