Chapter 1: Burying The Unavoidable.
Chapter Text
The thunking of Uravity’s boots filled the air compared to the calm silence that welcomed itself upon the end of the war. Sunlight beaming in the sky, half blinding her vision, yet still searching as she tried to focus on her task at hand.
It had been a few weeks or so ever since the war had ended, and various hero’s were sent out on patrol mission’s to help clean up the city.
Plenty of UA High students are present for the project, including Uraraka.
Divided through teams sent to specific locations, it just so happened that Uravity and Froppy were paired for this patrol.
A broken, half burnt down, shopping centre.
The task’s simple, small and compact. Their job is to remove all debris, and to search the area for any remaining injured civilians.
Task in mind, Uravity and Froppy split up in hopes of loading off the debris quicker, covering more ground, and searching for any civilians as they work their way through the mess.
They had both agreed to meet up beside the entrance of the shopping centre, if anything were to happen.
Sidestepping through the debris of concrete slabs, snapped wires and burnt merchandise, Uraraka searches for any sign of stragglers as she makes her way towards a store.
Her mind wandering, tracking back to the war. Things she really didn’t want to think of right now.
Uravity attempts to focus on the thud of her boots against the debris, locking away images of a pretty smile she can never forget.
Nearing closer to the store, Uraraka searching for the safest way to enter, a tall slab of concrete blocks the doorway.
Not thinking much of it as she quickly presses five fingers on the slab. The concrete slab begins to float up, away from the door.
Touching her fingers together releasing her quirk, the slab hits the floor a few feet behind her. Shoving a few other minor pieces of concrete out of the way, she enters the store.
From the outside, it appeared to be a clothes shop. As Uravity scans the room for any signs of people, she gently shoves a few large pieces of debris to the side to pick up later.
For every cleanup patrol the hero’s are sent on, it is mandatory to search for any lingering or injured civilians before moving all of the debris.
“Hello? Is there anybody in here?”
…
Silence.
Uravity waits a few moments, scanning the room.
The only place a person could be, is behind the wooden counter a few feet in front of her, that is scorched so deep the wood is black. A broken door to the far right of it, hanging off of its frame by a hinge, leads to a room with a gaping hole in the middle of it. Note to self, an easy escape route.
Seeming content that there is nobody there, she turns to her left, where she kept the big slabs of concrete.
Touching five fingers on the large concrete slabs, they begin to float. She taps a finger on one of her gauntlets, releasing small grappling hooks to hold them in place when she moves them outside.
She turns her head, eyes wandering over the room one last time.
..Just to make sure…
As her eyes scan over the room, once they reached the right side of the room past the counter, a blinding light fills her view. Eyes slamming shut reflexively, she takes a small step to her right, slightly grazing her shoulder past a scorched clothes rack. Opening her eyes slowly, she lets her eyes wander back to where the source of the light came from.
A shattered mirror catches her eye on the wall. Pieces of glass scattered amongst the floor, and that’s when she see’s it.
A familiar shade of red stains the floor, splattered in cracks of the mirror.
Uravity’s breath catches in her throat, hurrying toward the mirror.
The grappling hooks wires extending, leaving behind the concrete slabs. She slows at a stop in front of the counter, turning to the right toward the broken, bloodied, mirror.
Carefully treading around the broken shards, she crouched down to get a closer look, front facing the mirror.
She slowly examines the blood on the mirror. Silently praying not to catch any more sun in her eyes, she tips her head down. Picking up a heavily red stained shard, she ponders it.
It’s not dry yet. There could be someone injured nearby.
Setting back down the bloodied shard, she lifts her head back up. Her eyes meet her own in the reflection of the cracked mirror.
Prayers answered, she doesn’t catch any more sun in her eyes. Its burn undeterred as it shines brightly, warm light cascades upon her. She stares in the mirror, looking herself over.
It’s so bright, it’s almost like …
Her brows furrow as an unwelcome thought springs up once more.
My hair looks..
Blonde.
A pit growing in her gut, vision swarming and thoughts unyielding, she blinks harshly and quickly stands.
No. I can’t think about that. I can’t bring the mood down. not with this.
Her heart caught in her throat, she turns sharply back towards the floating debris.
She floats other remaining debris and hooks them onto her grappling hooks, eager to leave. Eager to not be reminded of her.
Against her wishes, she instinctively looks back. Towards the broken mirror. Towards her.
Bloodied, on the floor. Blonde. Some one thing she can’t help.
She clenches her fist. Uravity turns her head, leaving with the floating debris behind her.

Chapter Text
The wind whistled in her ears, tussling her hair as Uravity was leaping rooftop to rooftop. Froppy alongside her once more, jumping almost in unison as they have eyes on a thief running rampant in the streets.
…….
Beforehand, they were out on cleanup patrol. Suddenly, an alarm rang loud coming from a jewellery shop on the corner. That was nearby.
As the hero duo quickly made their way over, an old woman cried, “Thief! He took everything in the store and my purse!”
Stopping in her tracks, Uravity turns to the woman, hurriedly speaking “Do you know which way he went?”
“Yes! He ran across the street into an alleyway.”
“Thank you!” Uravity replied, relaying the information to Froppy as they both ran off towards the direction. Quickly shoving her fingers together, she floated up towards a rooftop to cover more ground. Hearing Froppy close behind her, hopping from wall to wall and landing on the rooftop.
Eye’s scanning below for someone running through an alleyway, Uravity spots him right as he bumps into a civilian.
“Froppy! Over here!”
“Coming.”
Froppy leaps over to Uravity, standing beside her, remaining diligent as she peaks down below.
The thief shoves away the person they bumped into hard, causing them to hit the wall as he spews,
“Move out the fucking way!” Falling back into a sprint towards another alleyway.
Uravity and Froppy glance at eachother, both nodding, before following close behind him from the rooftops.
…..
“Froppy, I have an idea.”
“Ribbit?”
“I’ll head down and cut him off. You stay up here, and cover me.”
“Sure, ribbit.”
Uravity nods, quickening her pace, jumping onto a roof to her right. Her quirk softens her landing, the metal thunk of her boots barely audible. Keeping up with the thief, she leaps downwards, landing in an alleyway he was running towards.
The minute her boots touch the ground, she tips five fingers together releasing her quirk on herself, slightly skidding on the floor.
She turns to face the thief head on, bending her knee’s and her arms raised. He stops in his tracks. The alley Uravity’s blocking is the only way out. Unless, he tries to climb. He takes 2 steps back, abruptly hitting a dumpster overloaded with rubbish. She tries to get a good look at his face.
The thief looked no older than 40 years old. His amber eyes widended in shock, black hair draping over his face from the side, slightly blocking his sight. He had some facial hair dotting his chin, but not enough to call it a beard. Not a heteromorphic quirk, then.
He quickly secures the bag of stolen goods in his back, before he places five fingers on both of his hands, his fingers emitting a soft blue glow as he makes contact with his skin. He slouches down sloppily, his palms now fists, rapidly charging at Uravity.
Her quick reflexes kicking in, she dodges left and leans back, his fist’s missing her face.
An emitter type quirk. Touch acitvcaiton. Glows?.. I’ll try to keep my distance.
His arm still outstretched, Uravity grabs his arm with her right hand, keeping her stance wide. Her left palm grips the base of his neck from behind, throws him face first into the concrete wall to her right. As long as he doesnt touch me, I’ll be fine.
Upon the impact of him hitting the wall, Froppy takes this chance to hop down. Midair, she extends her tongue attempting to restrain him. Uravity steps out of the way, to the right of the thief, still blocking the exit out of the alley.
He recovers swiftly, placing his two palms on the wall and shoving himself off of the wall. He curses under his breath, ripping something out of his pocket. Whipping around, he slashes wide, as a long strip of blood begins to pour out of Froppy’s tongue. She flinches, reflexively pulling her tongue back.
Uravity’s eye twitches slightly. I’ll make him pay for that.
Seeing her pause momentarily, he pockets his knife rapdily. He uses one hand, activating his quirk on both of his arms and legs, desperately charging at Uravity once more. He reaches her far quicker than she would have liked. Some sort of enhancement quirk. I can work with this.
A loud thud! echoes a few feet in front of Uravity, behind the thief. Catching a quick glimpse, She takes note that Froppy is a good bit behind him. She reaches out her tongue once more, but the thief has already closed the space between him and Uravity.
He pulls his arm back, seemingly trying to knock her out. Uravity stands her ground, widening her stance a little to easily evade any hits. I just need to make him float, and Froppy can grab him with her tonuge.
His arm connects to her shoulder, though not in a fist, but an open palm, gripping her shoulder fiercely. He flings his other arm out from behind his back, unleashing his knife.
Uravity flinches back as he grabs her. It hurts, but not enough to stun me. She **grabs his wrist with her left hand, her other gripping his upper arm, digging in five fingers she activates her quirk.
If he tries anything drastic, i can snap his arm in half. Before he starts to float, his free arm comes shooting up, his knife piercing into her side.
!!!!!!
Her breath stutters in her throat. She didn’t expect him to move so quick. Ouch.
Reacting quickly, Froppy’s tongue wraps around his arms and torso, successfully trapping him as he begins to float up.
..She’s bleeding a good bit…. Uravity’s brows furrow at the thought, no longer prioritizing the thief. Concern etched on her face, she glances toward her friend.
Froppy slams the thief down to the ground, releasing her hold on him. After using his quirk extensively, it appears the energy got knocked out of him as he falls unconcious the minute he hits the floor.
Uravity, sparing him no glance, puts her fingers together releasing her quirk. He lays on the ground, unmoving. Her eye’s meet Froppy’s.
“Froppy, are you okay? Your tongue is still bleeding.”
“You’re asking me that? You’re the one that got stabbed, ribbit.”
Oh. Right.
“Haha… yeah…” Uravity tips her head down, her gaze reaching her injury. She roughly scoops her hand over her side, applying pressure to it. Since when was i bleeding this much?..
Froppy paces over to her, taking something out of her belt.
“Take this.” She offers, handing her what seems to be a small medkit. “I keep it on me in case of emergencies. Ribbit.”
Uravity’s eyes widen in surprise for just a moment, before softening. Her lips twitch upwards.
“Thank you, Froppy.” She picks up the medkit, letting her hand fall to her side.
*Why am I so tired?… I barely even used my quirk. It’s not like i was doing flips the entire time. Is this a drawback of his quirk? I mean, he did touch me, but his hands didn’t glow.
“—vity.”
So, it’s nothing he did. Great. Her eyes lazily treck back down to her bloodied hand. Losing a lot of blood. Nothing I’m not familiar with, so it’s nothing to worry about. Right?
“U——avi—y!”
He almost hit my abdomen. Where she—
“Uravity!”
Blinking out of her mind induced coma, she focuses on the voice infront of her. Froppy.
“Are you sure you’re alright? You keep spacing out. Ribbit.”
Huh?
Her eye’s scan Froppy’s face. She look’s worried. Did I make her worry?
I need to get a hold of myself.
She forces her lips to meet her cheeks, giving her a half assed thumbs up with the hand holding the medkit. “I’m alright! Just a little clean and im good to go. Really.” She reassures her, hoping she drops it.
Froppy gives her a deadpan stare. Sighing internally, but accepting. “If you say so.”
“I already tied him up, and he’s still unconcious. Ribbit.”
“Oh.” I didn’t even see her do that. I’m not losing that much blood, am I?
“I’ll call the police while i clean up, okay?”
“Sure. I have to go return the bag of stolen jewellery to the shop, and its not too far from here, ribbit.” Froppy continues, “So, if you need me, just give me a call.”
“Yep!” She smiles weakly. I’ll have to do better than that.
Froppy gives her another questioning glare, When was the first time? Before turning, picking up the bag from the thief’s shoulder and swinging it around her own. “Won’t be long, ribbit.”
“See you later.” Uravity waves goodbye, trying to appear enthusiastic. She doesn’t even see Froppy walk away, as she slips back into her head.
Her head tilt’s down, studying her wound. She hisses as she slowly peels away her hand, blood dripping as her fingers slide off her side.
Theres a small puddle of blood on the floor that she hadn’t noticed the entire time of standing here. She stares at it. The longer her eyes remain there, the more the ground starts turning to gravel, and the familiar stinging of a hole in the middle of her abdomen. If she closes her eyes, unknown to the world, she can almost see her. Can see the greens and dried blood in her hair, her tears overtaking her face, her beatiful face. She can almost feel her breath on her face, as she asks that question over and over in her restless dreams.
She’ll answer it forever, if she has to.
Her eyes snap open as a sharp pain overtakes her senses. Gasping in air, When was I holding my breath? as she looks down to her side yet again. Still bleeding. Still losing her. She will always lose her. If she just—
Breath hitching, the biting chill settling in the air seeming to worm its way into her side, she forces herself to snap out of it.
Before she loses anymore blood. Before she loses her. Again.
