A mirror only shows the world in front of it

Not the new one, which is not for him to see.
Work Text:
As the mirror cracks at last, the most peculiar sound comes through the jagged gaps: a faint roiling of waves. The sound seeps from beyond his back, beyond the construct, where a conversation is happening between gods he cannot hear. He set the stage. Now the result unfolds in the darkness beyond him. One last shiver crosses him at the prospect that they might be dreaming together, ebbing and flowing.
Like driftwood carried by the tide, the echo of this nascent sea leaves a feeling in empty ruins of the construct: some unknown joy.
Everything goes dark, and he dies.
