Chapter Text
She finally found her. It was a long grueling painful journey. And now it was over. After all this time, she had her right where she wanted her.
Hunter had her guns pointed at the infamous criminal Laser Lily. She was the former head of a powerful criminal organization before it fell apart and she set out on her own.
"All right Convict," The Hunter said. "It's all over for you. You're under arrest. You can either surrender now and come quietly or we can go back with you in a body bag. It's up to you."
Lily smirks as she holsters her guns.
"You think you got me now huh? I'd have to be pretty stupid to try and fight you. Besides, even I gotta admit I'm pretty good looking."
She smirks and winks, eyeing the hunter up and down.
"Though I have to admit you're not too bad looking yourself," Lily said flirtatiously.
The hunter raised an eyebrow, trying to remain focused. "Don't try and charm your way out of this convict. It won't work."
She stood her ground, her finger hovering over the trigger.
There was something oddly familiar about this woman. Almost as if Hunter met her before. Suddenly realization set in. "...Lily?"
Lily's smirk faltered for just a moment. Hunter's voice suddenly seems familiar.
"...Yeah? What is it?" She crossed her arms defensively, trying to mask any possible recognition in her expression.
"You seriously don't recognize me. The two of us were close back in high school. REALLY close," Hunter said while blushing trying not to think about certain memories.
Lily's eyes widened slightly, surprise and uncertainty flashing across her face.
"...Hold up. Hunter? Wait..is it really you?"
Lily took a step closer, studying Hunter's face as if trying to confirm her identity.
"Yes. It's really me," Hunter said before remembering the circumstances they were in. She raised her gun signaling Lily to keep her distance.
Lily put her hands up in mock surrender.
"Whoa, whoa, easy there hotshot. It's like you said, we knew each other once. Can't a gal say hi to her old friend?" She smirked, taking another step closer despite Hunter's warning.
Hunter fired at the ground causing Lily to freeze. As much as it hurt having to bring in her former partner, she still had a job to do. History or no history, Lily was still a criminal.
Lily froze, her playful smirk vanishing as the bullet kicked up dust between them.
"...Alright. You're serious."
She slowly lowered her hands, expression shifting to something more resigned.
"Guess some things really do change huh?"
"What happened to you," Hunter asked trying to hide the sorrow in her voice. "I thought we would have been great together as bounty hunters. Why did you become the very thing I hunt?"
Lily's expression hardened, her features darkening at the mention of their past plans. There was a hint of bitterness in her gaze.
"...Life happened, Hunter. We were young and naive. We didn't know a damn thing."
She clenched her fists, her voice growing sharp and strained.
"You went on to become some righteous gun slinger, and I realized the world isn't as black and white as we thought when we were kids. Things change. People change."
Hunter spoke. "That doesn't mean we couldn't have done great things together. You should have stayed on the path to becoming a hunter like me. You were better than this. You ARE better than this."
Lily let out a bitter laugh, eyes flickering with pain.
"Oh yeah, cause we were just peachy back then. Remember all those "fights" about everything and nothing? We were a ticking time bomb back then. You wanted a life where you could explore everything, I wanted a life of easy money. We wanted different things."
She looked away, avoiding Hunter's gaze.
"...That's just how life goes sometimes. You gotta make choices. Even if it means losing something important."
Those words cut deeply within Hunter's heart. She didn't know what to say.
She keeps her gun steady but hesitates slightly, eyes narrowing.
"And what's that name? Laser Lily. That's what you're calling yourself now? A bitter chuckle escapes her. "Funny. After everything we've been through, this is how it ends - with me pointing a gun at your stupid face."
The barrel of the rusty sidearm trembles almost imperceptibly before she steadies it again.
"You know. If our past relationship means so much to you, why don't you let me go," Lily said.
"You know damn well why I'm here. Don't think for one second that whatever pathetic feelings might be lingering will stop me from doing my job."
Lily laughed menacingly. "And if I refuse to be arrested?"
A hint of regret crossed Hunter's expression, but she quickly composed herself.
"Lily, you know I can't let you walk. You're wanted in multiple towns for theft, assault, and who knows how many other charges. I have a duty to uphold the law."
Her grip on the rusty sidearm tightened.
"Don't make this harder than it has to be. Just surrender peacefully."
It was getting harder to maintain her composure. "Please," she said.
Lily noticed the pain in Hunter's eyes and softened her demeanor.
"...You haven't changed much, ya know that? Still just a bleeding heart after all these years. You were always the one with the soft spot."
She shook her head, a small smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.
"It's a wonder you lasted as a bounty hunter with a heart so big."
The hunter's breath hitched slightly at Lily's words, her gun lowering just an inch before she caught herself.
"...Shut up."
She quickly raised the weapon again, but there was less conviction in her stance now. The memory of their past weighing heavily on her mind.
"This isn't some joke. You're coming with me whether you like it or not."
Lily slowly walked up to her and caressed her face. "Isn't that what you said the last time we shared a bed together."
Hunter's cheeks flushed red involuntarily at her touch, memories flooding back. She tried to shake off the nostalgia, desperately clinging to her duty.
"Lily... don't..."
She swallowed hard, her aim wavering again as she struggled to keep her emotions in check.
Lily leaned in closer. She could feel her breath on her. "Don't what? You know you want this. You've longed for this again."
Hunter's resolve was crumbling with each passing moment. She closed her eyes, the weight of her duty feeling heavier with each second.
Damn it....
She tried to resist, but the memories and feelings stirred by Lily's touch were too strong. Her fingers trembled, the pistols dropping completely. The temptation was there. And it was too strong.
The hunter's breath hitched as she stood frozen, her guns now lying uselessly at their feet. All the years of training, discipline, and duty meant nothing in this moment.
...Damn it.
She finally opened her eyes again to meet Lily's gaze - conflicted but undeniably drawn back into that old connection.
This is wrong on so many levels...
Yet despite her words, she made no move to pick up the weapons or stop whatever might happen next.
Lily closed the gap between them. Her kiss was slow at first before becoming more needy.
Hunter let out a soft gasp as their lips met, all resistance crumbling in an instant. It was just like the old days: passion fueled moments of reckless abandon. She returned the kiss, her hands moving to grasp at Lily's shirt, pulling her closer as if to erase every bit of space between them.
Lily let out a low exhale as their lips connected. The years of longing and unresolved tension finally coming to the surface. The taste of her was both familiar and intoxicating, bringing back memories that she had tried to bury deep within her mind over the last few years
"...You're still a damn good kisser..." Lily said between kisses.
After a moment, the two separated and stared at each other. "Why don't we take this somewhere more private," Lily suggested.
Hunter didn't have the energy to respond with words so she simply nodded.
Damn it...
