Work Header

In the Quiet Between Patrols

Summary:

This is a chronological collection of short stories about Cyno and Tighnari being in love. Mostly domestic fluff and smut, with light angst that never lasts long, found family feelings, travel mishaps, and a whole lot of fox behavior. Plot is optional, emotions are not. It's all in all very domestic, with some surprises for our fox and general.

It was written for my gf and myself, so it might not completely cater to you. But I want to share my love for these two anyways.

Notes:

As said in the summary, I wrote this for my gf and myself. And she liked it very much, so that inspired me to share it with you guys. I am not a native English speaker, so the style might be a little stiff because of that. The further the chapters go, the better it does get, I think!

As for the smut... I am not very confident in those scenes, so I'm sorry if they are disappointing!! *bows*

I am terribly insecure in my own writing, so I do hope anyone who reads it likes it.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Summary:

Cyno's work is more than important, but Tighnari is a simple fox who misses him very much.

Notes:

My apologies in advance for the probably not very good smut. o7.

Chapter Text

Day 1

The night is never silent. Sounds one normally wouldn’t hear; leafs rustling due to birds landing in a tree, critters running around, the snoring. Avidya Forest was never silent.

Tighnari was haunted by these noises this night. Usually, he could drown out the noises by focusing on his research, or listening to a certain General's heartbeat. Hugging his tail closer, Tighnari sighed softly as he sat up in his bed, holding the last letter he had received a month ago.

He had memorised the first sentence.

“My dear Nari,

Work has gotten more complicated, and will take longer than I expected…”

Of course, there was more than the letter, but the first sentence was simply the most important. The letter had even lost the slight scent of Cyno's office in Sumeru City.

Three months already, huh..

Tighnari thought to himself. It wasn't even the longest Cyno had been away for his job. The longest they had been apart was definitely a whole year. And you'd think that Tighnari was used to it by now; being the General Mahamatra had taken Cyno away from him since the Akademiya days. But this was the first time to be separated from Cyno since being hit by that lightning.

As if on cue, his shoulder ached. He pushed his ears down, trying to drown out all the noises. Why do these noises bother me now? His ears twitched under his hands when he heard footsteps outside of his door, and for a second he got excited, only to realise it wasn't his. It was the soft footsteps of Collei.

“Collei,” Tighnari called out, unable to help the soft smile on his face when he heard a surprised gasp.

Opening the door, Collei peaked in. “Master Tighnari, you're not sleeping again?” She asked softly.

“Oh, you know. There are always things to do.” Tighnari lied, beckoning Collei before turning on a small oil lamp. He knew his glowing eyes freaked out his adopted daughter.

“Sure, there is…” Collei left the obvious unsaid. She knew Tighnari always looked rested when Cyno was around. “Oh! Master Tighnari, surely there is a plant to help with sleep? I've read about it… I think.”

“I don't have any on hand,” Tighnari tilted his head slightly. “And it is also slightly addictive. Highly effective, however. Too effective for me, I'm afraid.” He laughed softly. “Last time, I was asleep for two days because of it. Or maybe the dose was too strong. Maybe I used it wrong…”

Tighnari reached for his notebook, starting to scribble out his thoughts.

Why, yes, I ate it directly. That was what the book said anyways. However, what if I dilute it? Combine it with something else? I don't know if it'll work, I'll go to Sumeru City soon to see if I can find it there. Otherwise I'll have to go out and… Possibly miss Cyno coming back.

Tighnari shook his head at his own thoughts.

Stay on topic. Sumeru City tomorrow, buy that plant, go home, experiment. Oh, I should ask Kaveh to be my test subject.

He nodded to himself, turning to Collei only to notice she wasn't there anymore. Then he realised that just for a few minutes, all the little noises had stopped bothering him.

Looks like it's simply going to be another long night.

Day 2

Sumeru City was even more bustling in the morning, and Tighnari was starting to regret coming here after getting no sleep at all. He was secretly thankful for his control over his ears, keeping them pointing forward. He came there for one thing, plants.

But then he came by a stall selling Genius Evokation TCG cards, and he couldn't help but stop by, trying to see if he could snatch a card Cyno might not have. Before the merchant could make small talk with him, Tighnari had already forced himself to keep walking.

Plants.

A candied nut stall… No, plants. But maybe, for Collei.

Tighnari stalked over, tail swaying slowly as he looked over the delicious candy. Now, with three wrapped candied nuts, he made his way over to the botany stall.

Right. Plants.

“Oh, Master Forest Watcher! Coming all the way here, what can I help you with?” The merchant smiled brightly.

“Ahaha.. Just Forest Watcher is alright. Right, I'm looking for this herb specifically,” Tighnari pulled out his notebook, showing the merchant. “Do you maybe have this in stock?”

“Oh, hmm… I think the Akademiya actually had me remove it from the stall… Something about it being dangerous to consume?”

“It's highly addictive on its own, yes.”

“Yeah, so…” The woman laughed nervously.

“Do you maybe have any left, still? N-Not that I’m going to use them! Well, yes, to use them, but for experimenting.” Tighnari put a hand to his head, ears flopping down, tail lowering almost between his legs.

Oh, she definitely thinks weird things of me now.

“Well… I suppose I do have a small box left. Give me a second.” The merchant disappeared behind a few boxes before coming back with a small wrapped package. “Here uh… Here you go. On the house! I'm sure a Forest Watcher like you has… Good use for it.”

“Thanks…” Tighnari took the package, tucking it in the sack he brought with him.

Great. I shouldn't interact with people when I'm this sleep deprived.

Tighnari kept his hand to his head as he walked on, desperate to get home. Both to avoid Sumeru City, and to get back to the safety of his home. He even forgot about his previous plan to ask Kaveh to be a guinea pig for his experiment.

How did I even manage my Akademiya days? I suppose I didn't leave to go into the city too often, because I can never get used to this many impressions.

“...Nari! Tighnari! Is he ignoring me? Do his ears not work?”

Tighnari stopped, blinking away his thoughts.

Huh?

“Oh, finally. You sure walk fast when you are in thought, huh?” Kaveh panted slightly as he caught up with Tighnari, a big smile on his face. “I didn't know you were coming to Sumeru City today! If w- I had known, I would've invited you over for tea!”

Tighnari glanced around. No sign of Alhaitham, nor of Mehrak. “Don't tell me you had a fight with Alhaitham again. Did Mehrak take his side?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. The amount of fights those two had was astonishing to Tighnari. He had a feeling Cyno and he never fought. Not even over Cyno’s ‘jokes’.

“What? No! No, Alhaitham actually had some work to do, and I'm working on Mehrak. I was looking for some spare parts with my usual desert dealer.” Kaveh explained with a frustrated sigh.

“Working on Mehrak, hm? I suppose that does need to happen from time to time.” Cyno would make a joke here probably, about maintenance, architecture… I'd do a horrible job trying to mimic him.

“Yeah, so, are you feeling alright? You look rough. Don't look at me like that, I'm your senior!” Kaveh folded his arms. “Have you slept? I can't believe I have to ask that?”

Tighnari didn't even notice Kaveh subtly guiding them to Kaveh's home. “Sure, sure.” He muttered.

“Let me guess, someone is still roaming the desert.” Kaveh patted Tighnari's shoulder. “Worry not, my dear junior, I will take good care of you.”

The desert… I would look for him if I wouldn't melt the second I step foot in that Archon forsaken place.

“Tighnari you're scaring me, you're never this quiet. That's usually Cyno's thing if he isn't telling his awful jokes.” Kaveh pushed Tighnari inside, closing the door behind them. “Behold! The silence of my home.” He said proudly.

With Cyno gone to take care of the Fennec, maybe it fell on Kaveh to save Tighnari from the horrors of the city.

Tighnari let out a soft sigh of relief, rubbing his ears in a form of both relaxing and washing them.

“Anyways, I'll make us some tea. I got some Fontainian dessert too, I've been dying to try it out, but Hayi just doesn't want to try it. Something, something, too sweet, grumble, grumble.” Kaveh waved his hand as he got to getting everything together.

Tighnari laughed softly. “Sounds like him. I don't mind tasting. Maybe it'll be something Collei likes.” He sat down at the kitchen table, taking off his gloves to spread his fingers.

“They are called ‘doughnuts’, I think. I got several types! You can definitely take some home. For Collei and yourself.” Kaveh paused, placing a hand on his hip. “Do you miss him that much?”

“W-What?”

“Cyno? Oh, you definitely do. You look like a hopelessly lost kitten.”

“Fo-”

“Yes, yes, fox, I know. Don't baby foxes get called kittens too? Exactly. Point proven.”

“... He's been gone for three months, and it hasn't even been the longest period.” Tighnari sighed as he wrapped his hands around his cup of tea.

“I doubt time makes it easier. But he does have an important job. Without him, there would be more people like…”

“Yes, I know. But the way he puts himself in danger...”

“Knowing he has a certain fox well versed in botany to return to.”

“Kaveh, stop. I just… Don't want to think about him at all, I think.” Tighnari muttered, his ears flat against his head. Because I feel like crying. Like a… Kitten.

Kaveh shrugged, placing a doughnut on a place in front of Tighnari. “I do not envy you, that's all.”

And I am jealous of you having Alhaitham with you every night. Tighnari thought. He pushed those thoughts away as he took a bite of the doughnuts, and one of his ears perked up. Ah, this is…

“Is it good?”

“It's… Sweet. And fluffy. This one's a little powdery. I suppose that's sugar.” Tighnari analysed. He took another bite, tilting his head to the side as he tried to relate it to any Sumerian snacks. “It is a little like a Tulumba, but also not.”

“Oh, those Fontainians know how to do sweets.” Kaveh grinned as he bit into one of his own.

Would Fontaine be a nice place to visit? I think it is a very rainy place, but without giant trees to protect you… I don't like getting my tail wet.

Tighnari sipped his tea, staring at the wall. Luckily, Kaveh didn't ask any more questions. Or try to initiate conversation. Maybe his senior realised that he was really sleep deprived.

“I plan to make a special tea to help one sleep.” Tighnari started

“Oh, from that one plant?”

“That doesn't really narrow it down, Kaveh, there are many plants. But yes, the one the Akademiya apparently doesn't like anymore. I was thinking, right, it's bad when eating it directly. But what if I were to dilute it. And I was thinking, hot water. Dry it, grind it up, put it in a tea bag, and let it steep in hot water. Would it work? Would it help you sleep, without being addictive? Or knocking you out for multiple days?” Tighnari got up, determined.

“Oh, you're leaving already?”

“Yes, I have to get home. Collei has her lessons, and I have to try it out. There are so many hypotheses…” Tighnari put his gloves back on.

After saying goodbye to Kaveh, and promising to come back soon, Tighnari made his way back to Gandhara Village. After greeting everyone who welcomed him back, he dedicated a few hours to tutoring Collei, thankful for the distraction.

When the sun had set, he withdrew to his own house once again, ears low on his head.

Alone, again.

Thinking back now, spending time in the city, with Kaveh, around his own village, were such nice distractions.

First things first.

Tighnari divided his new herbs in half, drafting a letter to the Pardis Dhyai with a request to artificially dry them like tea leafs. A rainforest was not the ideal environment. Once he finished that letter, and added half of the herbs to it, he placed it on the side to have it sent out first thing in the morning.

Now, for the next part…

He opened his notebook, scribbling a few hypotheses. Different grams of the herb, different degrees for the water. He lit a small fire for his kettle, tail swaying slowly. He was in his element.

“Right…” Tighnari muttered to himself as he waited for the water to boil. Musing out loud always helped him focus. “One leaf alone is enough to knock someone like me out for two days… I'll add just a quarter of a leaf to boiling water.” He decided, cutting up a leaf and leaving what was left back in the bag. “A pot, or a cup?” Tighnari's ears twitched as he heard footsteps, but they weren't his. “A pot, for safety.” He decided with a nod.

When everything was ready, and he had poured himself a cup, he first took his notebook.

Tonight, I will drink 1 cup of this new tea I brewed. A quarter of the leaf steeped in just boiled water in a pot.

Tighnari inspected the colour and sniffed it before returning to writing.

A slight green discolouration of the water, with no distinctive scent.

Tighnari took a sip.

No flavour. Perhaps if there is more leaf, there is more flavour?

After downing the whole cup, Tighnari sat on his chair. How long would it take before there was any effect. Would there even be any effect? Tighnari couldn't help but smile at his own thoughts.

After all this time, I can't get rid of this joy while experimenting, hm? And it's actually more Cyno's thing.

After 30 minutes, Tighnari's body felt just a little heavy, but he blamed it mostly on being awake for so long. Still, he rested his head in his arms on his desk, staring at the stars through his window. The thought that Cyno saw the same stars comforted him as he drifted off to a dreamless sleep.

Day 3

With a gasp, Tighnari sat up. The sun was just barely creeping through the trees.

Interesting.

He got up and stumbled. His body was still adjusting to wake up. Just a quarter of a leaf and this is result? Maybe my constitution for this is just incredibly low. I have to ask Kaveh, maybe Alhaitham too.

Tighnari couldn't help but feel satisfied at his own experiment. Though, he should probably get into bed next time, and not sleep at his desk. His shoulders and neck ached.

Is this what getting older means? Aches everywhere? I used to live at my desk without issue!

He mused to himself as he stepped outside, taking in the fresh air. It had rained. It gave the earth such a pleasant scent.

First up on today's schedule was a routine walk around the forest. After picking up his bow and a quiver full of arrows, you could never be too sure, he walked off. He made sure to stop by and bring withering flowers back to life with the power of Dendro. The forest looked better without withering plants.

Even though the main issue of the Withering had been solved, here and there, remnants remained. Tighnari had put it on himself to check every morning to keep it in check. It was also a nice distraction.

He shook his head to get some left over sleep out, wondering why he was still so tired. Sure, he had a few sleepless nights behind him, but he had slept now. Maybe sleeping was the problem.

Maybe, instead of making a potion to sleep, I should make a potion to stay awake. Actually, no. I sound like Kaveh. And I know Kaveh would kill to get his hands on that.

Tighnari shook his head again with a smile. Of all his friends, Kaveh was truly the one he was worried most about when it came to his mental health.

On his way back, Tighnari kept alert at any sounds. What if Cyno had come back while he was gone? As much as he wanted to go back to check, he decided to take a detour, with ample vision on the road that Cyno would have to take to get to Gandhara Village.

Maybe I should ask Sethos to take me to the desert. Surely, he knows the place, and maybe also knows where Cyno would be… Argh! I've never been this bad before! Maybe it's close to… It's entirely possible, I get crazy emotional.

Tighnari considered as he climbed in a tree to sit in it, having a good view of even Sumeru City in the far distance.

The downside of his kind was the… Cycle. Even males had them, and Tighnari had always hated them. He had been quite young when he started to take medicine against it, and eventually he had gotten used to being. It made him feel normal, feel more human and less like an animal, and it helped him be treated with more respect in the Akademiya. Not that he lacked that. Since Cyno and he became official, he had been quite lax on it. Cyno had never minded and would gladly help him through it. What implications that had for their relationship was for Tighnari to know, and Cyno to be kept in blissful ignorance.

Oh, if my parents figure out that I chose someone not of our race…

Tighnari decided not to think about it any longer. He had to take the medicine and skip it this time. After sitting in the tree for a good hour, and seeing no sign of anyone approaching the village, he went back home to tutor Collei and complete his other Forest Watcher duties.

He did notice how people seemed to be more cautious around him. A bit kinder, a bit softer, a bit more avoiding of him or certain topics. It bothered Tighnari. He wasn't fragile. And as long as he completed his duties, no one was allowed to complain. He even went above and beyond for the flora today!

Ah. I'm getting too worked up. It's affecting me more than usual today.

He retired early that day, feigning illness. He immediately wrote down how he felt that day, deciding he would lean into feeling ‘sick’ by laying down, curling up and hugging his tail tight.

I don't want to skip it, that's the problem. Cyno has spoiled me now, giving me a taste of what it is like with my chosen person. My… Mate. That's embarrassing to think about.

Tighnari closed his eyes, finally allowing himself some time to properly miss his General.

Cyno lifted the hood from his cape, looking up the road to Gandhara Village. It was just a few hours before sunrise, and he had finally made it back home. His real home. To Collei, and to his Nari.

This job had taken a toll on him, but he got out relatively unscathed. Any injuries were already covered up and healing. Cyno wondered, would Tighnari be awake at this hour? He knew his fox could get absorbed in research from time to time. And how were Collei's studies going?

Cyno continued on silently, though he walked a little faster than before.

The final stretch had arrived…

The village was fast asleep when he properly arrived. There wasn't even a light shining in Tighnari's place. He opened the door as quietly as he could, placing a hand on his heart upon seeing Tighnari curled up around his tail, ears flat and back on his head.

With a soft smile, he walked over and reached down to gently rub Tighnari's ears.

“Tighnari…”

Day 3.5

Tighnari had such a wonderful dream: Cyno had returned, and they were cuddling. He was massaging his shoulders, brushing his tail, rubbing his ears. He could even hear that voice in the distance.

“...Nari…”

Oh, how Tighnari longed to actually hear that voice again. With each rub, his ears twitched, and with each soft whisper, his tail started swaying slowly. The movements of his fox parts were what woke him up.

Then he realised his ears were being rubbed.

He sat up quickly, staring at Cyno with wide, seemingly glowing eyes. Was he an apparition? Tighnari reached out, gently touching this possible Cyno's cheek. The warm skin was very much real… He was real!

Tighnari threw himself into Cyno's arms, throwing the poor Mahamatra to the ground.

“Well, ow.” Cyno muttered as he rubbed the back of his head, not having expected such an excited reaction.

“What? You're back?” Tighnari sat up on top of Cyno, tail wagging in a speed only Cyno could cause. “It's the middle of the night! Cyno, what have I told you about travelling at night.” He folded his arms, shaking his head.

“You say so many things, Nari, which part specifically for this~?” Cyno teased.

“Ugh, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The night is dangerous, especially in the forest. You could've gotten hurt!” Tighnari wagged his finger in a scolding manner before reaching up to turn on his oil lamp, refusing to be the only one to be able to see, and he got to inspecting Cyno to see if the General had gotten any serious injuries. But he could only see old ones.

“Pretty good, eh? I was extra careful this time around, and I had the special salve you gave me.” Cyno reached over to grab Tighnari's slightly trembling hands. “Nari?”

“What?” Tighnari's ears were flat on his head. Why did he feel so angry? Maybe at the fact that Cyno came without a warning? In the middle of the night? Without any letters?

“Tighnari…” Cyno squeezed Tighnari's hands. “I'm sorry. I took too long.”

Tighnari looked away, tail slowly wrapping around Cyno's leg.

“Look at me, please?” Cyno asked, a little nervous at how angry and silent Tighnari was being. He seemed so excited to see him just a few minutes ago! His only consolation was the fluffy green tail around his leg.

“Don't do it again.” Tighnari whispered. “I know how dangerous it is, and how important your job is, but…” Tighnari refused to look at Cyno, ears twitching slightly.

“But?” Cyno gasped softly when he realised. “Ooww… I was supposed to be back already. Look, Nari, I'm really sorry. Don't be mad at me.”

“I can't be mad at you, do you know how frustrating that is?” Tighnari sighed softly, ears slowly standing upright.

Cyno simply hummed, reaching up to gently squish Tighnari's cheeks before scratching behind his ears. Tighnari couldn't help but lean into the touch, tail starting to wag ever so slowly. Cyno just knew all the right spots.

“I'm exhausted, Nari.”

“No wonder, you decided to travel at night. I’d expect better from the great General Mahamatra” Tighnari folded his arms.

Cyno got up from under Tighnari. “Do you have anywhere to be when you wake up? Or can you sleep in?” He asked as he effortlessly picked up Tighnari, earning himself a yelp from the fox.

“A warning next time please! Oof!” Tighnari looked up at Cyno with wide eyes from where he had been thrown on the bed. “And what a stupid question, of course I do. I have to draft up a new schedule, I hav–”

Cyno interrupted Tighnari with a kiss, slowly pushing him down on the bed. Kisses were the most effective way of shutting down Tighnari's thoughts.

“You don’t ‘have’ to anything. You're having an off day.” Cyno whispered.

“What? No, Cyno…” Tighnari's tail wrapped around Cyno's leg again. It did sound very tempting, an off day. And he did excuse himself for being sick earlier. Maybe.

Cyno shook his head, gently tugging Tighnari's ear as a way to say ‘you have no choice’.

The fox didn't argue it anymore either, wrapping his arms around Cyno's neck.

Maybe he needed it. A night with Cyno, sleeping in. Tighnari warmed up to the idea more and more as Cyno kissed him.

Tighnari liked it when Cyno was a bit more assertive as usual. As serious as Cyno was, and as powerful as he was being the General Mahamatra, he was not always the most confident, and didn't take as much initiative.

Was Tighnari perhaps too assertive? He supposed it was part of his race; they took what they wanted. Tighnari pushed Cyno away slightly, ears twitching against the pillow.

Such a high heartbeat. He doesn't change, does he? With sly eyes, he trailed his fingers up and down Cyno's arms. When he got into the mood, it was Tighnari turned into a completely different person.

“Cyno?”

“Yes, Nari?”

Tighnari pushed Cyno off of him, instead pushing him down and crawling on top of him.

“Don't leave me alone for this long again.” He undid the clip of Cyno's cape, took off his own gloves and trailed his claw like nails across Cyno's chest.

Cyno could only manage an almost pathetic hum, with a nod accompanied with it. Tighnari smiled, leaning down to kiss Cyno, but stopping just before their lips could touch.

“Welcome home.” Tighnari whispered. “I missed you.”

Tighnari looked down at Cyno with hungry eyes. Now that his cycle partner was here, it was like he could finally give in to his needs. And he needed Cyno. All of it. He tugged off his own clothes, clicking his tongue in frustration when his pants got stuck on his tail.

“Tighnari, let me help.” Cyno reached out to help.

Tighnari glared at Cyno, slapping his hand away. “You can help by laying down. I got this.” He was determined. And he also knew Cyno liked him like this.

After removing Cyno's clothes, except the cape Cyno laid on, Tighnari licked his lips. Truly, Cyno was such a treat on the eyes. And all his… No one else could touch him. No one but him. Tighnari reached over to a small bottle of clear liquid. Plants held so many properties, and one of them made sex so much easier.

“Oh, we're almost out… Will this last for a few days?” Tighnari wondered as he poured a little bit on his fingers.

“Days? Wait is it really that time?” Cyno wasn't sure before, it had been just a guess. Now he seemed almost terrified.

“I'm so happy you're back, Cyno. Obviously for more reasons than just this… But it's perfect timing. Don't worry. I still have that potion~.” Tighnari pressed one hand on Cyno's chest as he reached the other back.

Tighnari had a feeling that Cyno liked seeing him like this. Panting softly, assertive, one ear flopped to the side. Of course, this lasted only until the first climax, then the fox was the complete opposite way. Needy. Pliant.

With soft whines, Tighnari opened himself up, digging the claws of his other hand on Cyno's chest into his skin. If it hurt the general, he did not complain.

This is taking too long. But it's been… Months, and I don't want it to hurt… But I need it so bad. It's like my body's on fire!

Tighnari wiped his hand on the bed, lining himself up.

Ah, just watching me has made him this hard… I'm just too lucky, truly! If I was a girl, oh, I'd give him all my kits.

“Careful…” Cyno whispered, placing a hand on Tighnari's thigh.

“Of… Of course.” Tighnari breathed out, lowering himself on Cyno.

It was so much, as it always was. Tighnari needed a moment, squeezing his eyes closed. Before Cyno could try to help him, Tighnari gathered himself, slowly moving up and down, placing his hands on Cyno's chest to balance himself.

“Cyno…”

“Hm…?”

“I do not care that I can't have kits, we can always… Hah… Always pretend I can.” Tighnari bounced a little faster, already so desperate.

Cyno put his hands over his face. “Nari… You can't just say that…!”

“Hmm, but you like filling me up, don't you?”

“Exactly… You're going to make me want to try too hard.”

“I see no issue~. I need it, Cyno. Archons know I need it… Don't actually listen, Archons…”

Tighnari's eyes turned a little lazy, and his ears fell back as he already felt so close. He didn't mind it, though. He had a lot more to go.

As expected, Tighnari fell on top of Cyno as soon as he climaxed, panting softly as he came down.

Cyno ran his fingers through Tighnari's hair, unable to help the smile on his face. His fox tried so hard, and he was so proud of him. Now, feeling a bit more comfortable, it was Cyno's turn to take care of Tighnari.

After a few minutes, and making sure Tighnari was asleep, Cyno got up out of the bed. The way his fox acted was definitely something only for his eyes, and that made Cyno feel giddy. Everyone else knew him as the Forest Ranger. Strict, but ever so friendly. Just don’t do anything stupid, or he’d scold you. But in times like this… Tighnari was both incredibly assertive, and incredibly pliant. Cyno knew what when Tighnari would wake up, he would beg for it. Begging was Cyno’s weak spot. How could he deny Tighnari anything when he was flushed red, ears flat to the side, thighs rubbing together.

This is bad. He’s not even awake and I’m getting excited again!

Cyno gently slapped his own cheeks as he stalked around the room, gathering a filled water canister, and food. They would need; Tighnari’s head tended to last three to four days.

He looks so cute on the bed there… He doesn’t know how bad I’ve missed him these past three months.

“Cyno…” Tighnari mumbled.

“I’m here” Cyno walked over, sitting on the bed.

“You better be… Been waiting for too long.”

“I know.”

Tighnari pushed himself up against Cyno, rubbing his head and ears against Cyno’s. Among his kind, the most intimate way of cuddling. It was him rubbing his own scent on Cyno. Not that he’d know.

Soft purrs started up as he took Cyno’s hand, pressing soft kisses up his arm before kissing his neck. Then he couldn’t help biting down almost hungrily, his small fangs digging into Cyno’s skin. Tighnari never drew blood, but biting down just felt so right.

Cyno’s soft panting, and his gentle touches all over his body just drove Tighnari even more insane. All he wanted was more, and more. More of what? Well, Tighnari wasn’t exactly sure, but more.

And he got more, as Cyno gently pushed him away to start his counter attack; he pushed Tighnari down, pressing soft kisses in his neck. Tighnari let himself go completely pliant on the bed, closing his eyes and focusing on Cyno’s soft touches.

With soft gasps, he opened his legs for Cyno to take place between, and he tugged at his hair when Cyno decided to pay ample attention to his nipples. He knew what Cyno was doing; trying to make him beg for it.

“Cyno…” Tighnari whined.

“Yes, Nari?”

“Ah… Don’t… Don’t make me wait…”

“Why, we have so long left~. Surely I can take my time~?” Cyno teased.

Tighnari managed a glare, but it wasn’t very impressive with his face flushed, and eyes hazy. “I’ll bite your head off.” He growled.

“Oohh, being threatening now, are we? Threatening the General Mahamatra?”

Tighnari slapped Cyno softly, sitting up ever so slightly to start biting at Cyno’s shoulder and neck.

Cyno rubbed his cheek with a pout. “I get a feisty fox, huh? Guess there’s only one way to shut you up.”

Tighnari kept biting, but it wasn’t hard. More as a warning: Fuck me right now, or I’ll do it myself.

“Hm. Suppose I’ll have to give your mouth something else to focus on.”

Cyno cupped Tighnari’s cheeks, kissing him deeply. He didn’t let Tighnari move at all as he kissed him, forcing his tongue down his mouth. As he moved to hold Tighnari’s face with one strong hand, his other hand moved down to line himself up.

Cyno drank Tighnari’s noises eagerly as he pushed himself in, grinning against his lips.

Oh how quickly Tighnari was shut up, and pliant again.

But it wasn’t the position that felt the best now.

Cyno pulled himself out, causing Tighnari to let out a pathetic fox-y yelp. He grabbed Tighnari’s hips, flipping him around and lifting his ass in the air. Then he pushed himself up again, starting an excited pace.

“Ah! Cyno, wait…!” Tighnari cried out, hands gripping the blankets on his bed.

But Cyno wouldn’t wait, not even with Tighnari’s tail in his face. The tail had a pleasant scent.

This position was killer for Tighnari. His fox instinct told him this was for one thing. And even if that wouldn’t be possible, Cyno still entertained him by biting his neck.

Tighnari’s body turned jelly when he climaxed for the second time, but Cyno wasn’t done yet.

“C-Cyno…! Please, I'm…!”

“I’m not there yet. Stay strong, little fox.”

Tighnari could feel tears welling in his eyes. He was so sensitive, but it didn’t hurt. Instead he was filled with ecstasy knowing he was helping Cyno finish too.

When Cyno finally did, Tighnari promptly lost consciousness.

Tighnari had a sly smile on his face as he nuzzled Cyno’s crotch. It had been 3 days already, and Tighnari was as good as done.

So, Cyno had gone out for some food and new water.

But while Cyno was gone, Tighnari just couldn’t get Cyno out of his head. That’s why he was rubbing his head against Cyno’s crotch and thigh now, ears flopped to the side.

“Nari...”

“Hm… Even after 3 days, you sure do seem excited to see me~.” Tighnari purred.

Cyno’s face was slightly red as he placed the sack of food and water down on the table. He then placed a gentle hand on his head, as if to give Tighnari permission.

Tighnari didn’t need any more encouragement, and he eagerly tugged Cyno’s shorts down.

Ah… I’m finally lucid enough to properly enjoy and admire it.

Tighnari purred as he pressed soft kisses all over Cyno’s length. He stuck his tongue out, looking up at Cyno with fake innocent eyes.

Cyno understood immediately, placing his cock in Tighnari’s mouth. Outside of Tighnari’s heat, even though he was the top, Tighnari was certainly more horny than he was

Tighnari held Cyno’s thighs as support as he bopped his head up and down, taking Cyno a little deeper each time.

“Nari, fuck…” Cyno tugged at Tighnari’s hair.

Tighnari looked up at Cyno with mischievous eyes, and even though Cyno tugged his hair, he took Cyno deeper in his mouth. Even after 3 months apart, he took it easily, showing no signs of struggle as he swallowed, eager to make Cyno climax.

“Shit… Nari, you… You sure?”

Tighnari’s ear twitched in response.

Yes, yes, give it to me.

Tighnari’s tail wagged as he drank Cyno’s cum, swallowing when he was done. He backed away, wiping away some drool from the side of his mouth.

“Thank you for the meal~.” Tighnari purred.

Cyno hid his face in his hands. “Give me a little warning next time…” He muttered.

Tighnari tilted his head to the side, ears pointed straight forward. “Hmm, a hint? But a surprise blowjob is the most fun.” He patted Cyno’s thigh. “seeing the General Mahamatra all flustered is truly the most fun.”

“Do you need…?”

“Hm? Oh! No need. Honestly, I just wanted to taste you. We didn’t do that at all.” Tighnari seemed to almost skip over to where Cyno had folded his clothes.

Cyno followed Tighnari with his eyes silently.

“Haahh, it’s been too long! I still haven’t finished drafting up that new schedule for the rangers, and Collei’s studies. And I haven’t taken care of my tail at all!” Tighnari placed his hands on his cheeks, swaying around slightly. “Oh! And you need to go back to Sumeru City to report back, right? We can immediately invite Alhaitham and Kaveh to go for lunch. Maybe Sethos and that weird Inazuman guy too?”

Cyno shrugged. He enjoyed Tighnari talking.

Tighnari dressed up, letting Cyno help him pull his tail through the small hole on the back of his pants.

“Thank you, Cyno.” Tighnari smiled softly, pressing a soft kiss on Cyno’s cheek.

Thank you for coming back alive, for helping me through my heat, and helping me with my tail. Thank you for existing.

“Yeah… Always.”
