Chapter Text
…
“A tower.”
“Next.”
…
“A spaceship. Correlian class corvette-?”
“That was not needed, but thank you. Next.”
…
“A blaster.”
“Very good, Marcy. I think that concludes the test. We’ll be back with results from your blood test shortly. Run home now, young one. I can see great potential in you.”
“Yay!”
The funny men that had tested her were standing in her home, talking to her parents. Apparently she was going to be leaving this planet with them! Though she’d miss her parents, it was going to be so fun!
They had laser swords.
“The girl has much potential, you see- her combined midichlorian count and intelligence will make an impeccable jedi. To leave her without training would be irresponsible, and could cause her and others harm, if her fear gets the best of her.”
“We understand. We’ll… pack her bags,” her parents said hesitantly. Seeing the parent’s melancholy, the knight tried to offer as much respite as he could while remaining firm.
“Don’t worry too much, your daughter is in safe hands. The clone war may well be reaching it’s conclusion, and the galaxy will be safe once more. You’ll have a few hours to say goodbye, we’ll be landing the ship closer so that Marcy need not take the long trek. I also need to consult with some troopers back at our camp. I’ll be seeing you soon.”
“Bye Mr. Jedi!” Marcy exclaimed.
The Jedi bowed, leaving and giving a chuckle at Marcy’s starry-eyed expression.
“Goodbye, miss Wu.”
As soon as the man left, packing began… and subsequently ended. Marcy wasn’t allowed to bring much to the Jedi temple, clothes being supplied by the order, and objects of sentimental value linking you to your family being forbidden. Much to the (unintentional) hurt of Marcy’s parents, the girl then spent the next five hours waiting outside on the doorstep for her ride to arrive.
But as hour six passed, she was a tad concerned.
Hours seven and eight came and went.
As hour nine waned, she began to lose hope.
“Marcy?” Her mother spoke. “They might have been held up… how about you come inside, hmm? it’s cold, I don’t want you to catch something.”
Marcy didn’t turn around.
“But what if they come…?”
“I’m sure they won’t mind waiting till morning. It’d be good to be well rested for them.”
“But…” the three year old sighed. “I guess…”
The girl trod inside reluctantly, making her way up to bed.
It didn’t take long for her father to call her down with… news.
“Um, you… might wanna see this.” He pointed at the holovision, showing the chancellor palpatine giving a speech. He was wearing a dark cloak concealing his face.
“The Jedi hoped to unleash their destructive power against the Republic by assassinating the head of government and usurping control of the clone army. But the aims of would-be tyrants were valiantly opposed by those without elitist, dangerous powers. Our loyal clone troopers contained the insurrection within the Jedi Temple and quelled uprisings on a thousand worlds.
“The remaining Jedi will be hunted down and defeated! Any collaborators will suffer the same fate. These have been trying times, but we have passed the test. The attempt on my life has left me scarred and deformed, but I assure you my…”
The words continued but nobody paid much attention- they’d heads enough.
“I think I know why they were late…” Mr Wu said.
“But that can’t be right… they didn’t seem dangerous.”
“Well of course not all of them were in on it, I expect… But thank god Marcy didn’t go with them. If they’d been a few hours earlier, I dread to think…”
”we have to make sure nobody finds out. If they have her on record, we’re done for…”
Marcy was quiet.
She… she could still be a jedi, right?
Right?
