Work Text:

The afternoon sun poured gently through the curtains of their shared home, wrapping the living room in a warm, golden hue. Harry sat on the plush sofa, his mind wandering amidst the quiet moments shared with his husbands, Theo and Blaise. The world outside buzzed with conversations about labels and identities, but within these walls, the focus was simply on love and support.

Harry, a man with unique experiences, had never quite fit the standard mould. Intersex by nature, his journey through life had been peppered with challenges and revelations. Yet here, he felt at ease, perhaps more so than ever before, pregnant and cherished. The growing curve of his belly was a testament to life — an adventure he hadn’t anticipated but embraced wholeheartedly.

Theo, with his warm brown eyes and gentle smile, moved closer. He’d been the first to notice the slight changes in Harry’s body, the way life blossomed within him. Blaise followed suit, his expressive gaze filled with admiration and a hint of wonder.

“Are you comfortable, love?” Theo asked softly, settling beside Harry and brushing his fingers lightly against the fabric of his shirt, yearning to connect with the life within.

“More than I have been in a long time,” Harry replied, looking down at his belly, the new source of joy and uncertainty. It was surreal to think of the baby growing inside, he often found solace in the little kicks, a reminder of their shared journey.

“I can’t wait to meet them,” Blaise added, the softness of his voice wrapping around Harry like a blanket. “I think they’ll inherit your spirit, you know. Beautiful and strong.”

Harry chuckled softly, appreciating their unyielding positivity. He had grown accustomed to the whispers of the outside world — those who oversimplified identities, reducing complex human experiences to mere labels. To him, intersex wasn’t about fitting into a predefined category, it was a part of his story, not the entirety of it.

“How are you feeling?” Theo’s inquiry was genuine, his hand now resting lightly against Harry’s belly, hesitant yet eager.

“More tired than I thought I’d be,” Harry admitted, but the truth was that weariness melted away in their presence. “But every day, it feels more real, more exciting.”

“Just wait until we start planning for the nursery,” Blaise teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief. The thought of decorating a room for their little one brought a smile to Harry’s face, despite his initial fatigue.

As their laughter echoed softly in the room, Harry looked at his partners. In this bubble of love, they had created a sanctuary away from the chaos of the world outside. It wasn’t about which box they ticked or where they fit on a spectrum, it was about the connection they shared.

The recognition of Harry's unique identity didn’t concern them, nor did it loom large in their hearts or conversations. Rather, their focus was on creating a home filled with laughter, love, and understanding. While the outside world debated and discussed, Harry found solace and strength in the warmth of their love.

As evening descended, painting the sky in shades of orange and purple, the three settled into the comforting embrace of their space. Blaise leaned over to plant a gentle kiss on Harry’s belly, a sweet gesture that conveyed care and protection.

“Whatever the world thinks, this,” he gestured to their little family, “is what matters. You’re perfect just as you are.”

Harry's heart swelled as he felt the weight of their words sinking in. He didn’t need to define himself for them, their love was an accepting, unfettered force that allowed him to simply be.

In that moment, as they nestled into their surroundings, each lost in their thoughts yet interconnected by an unbreakable bond, Harry couldn’t help but feel that together, they were forging a new kind of normal — wonderful, chaotic, and exquisitely theirs.
