Chapter Text
Your finger caressed through books as you skimmed for the book you needed for your upcoming exam. "Richard Feynman..." You mumbled under your breath while picking up your pace. Guess you were too involved in finding the book that you didn't even bother to watch where you were going-
"Hey!" A soft guy's voice yelped.
You snapped back to your senses. "Shit, I'm sorry."
The guy hidden behind stacks of books he's carrying wobbled left and right to keep the books from falling. Thankfully, nothing fall cause if you want to bend over in this libary sections? It's a whole ass pilate workout if you ask any students on campus.
Your eyes couldn't help but skim through the books he was carrying. Boring physics book and...Richard Feynman, in the middle, on his towering stature.
"Wait-" You reached for the book on instinct, but pulled back. "Is that Richard Feynman?"
The guy slides his arms to the side to look at you, then back at the books. He raised a brow, his glasses tilting upwards slightly. "Six Easy Pieces? Yeah."
"Do you mind if I-" You glide your fingers against the book.
"I-uh..." He struggled to find words. "Well-uh-"
"Oh, yeah, of course you need to settle everything down first." You turned around and started to speed walk out of the sections.
"That's not..." He murmured to himself but followed behind you anyway. Don't want to create traffic for the people behind him.
You settled for an empty table, leaning the back of your thighs against the table as you watched him stumble quickly to the table you were at. The book dropped onto the table with a quiet thud. He nervously glanced at your directions as he disassembled the books onto the table so they wouldn't topple over.
"That one." You pointed at the book you were looking for.
He flinched when you spoke out of the blue. His cheeks flushed pink, his hands shaking when he picked the book up. "T-This one?"
"Yeah. I've been searching for this forever-"
"The thing is-" He interrupted you. "I need this book to study for my upcoming exam." He didn't dare to look into your eyes when he said that.
"Oh." Was all you could mutter for a couple of seconds. You shook your head slightly with a slight crack of a smile. "That's crazy cause I also had an exam coming up next Thursday, and it just so happened that I need that book."
He curled his shoulders, almost covering his ears with the back of his head turned toward you.
You closed your eyes for just a second to embrace this awkward giant. "Dr. Alistair?"
He spun to face you, his crystal blue eyes widened slightly, which doesn't exactly help with his puppy-dog eyes. "Hm?"
"He's your professor?"
He bopped his head.
"Okay..." You curled the hair away from your face behind your ears. "Are you in my class?"
He hesitated. He nods.
Shit. Why did I make this more awkward? "Is that the only copy?"
He nods again.
"Okay." You took a deep breath. "I'm y/n."
"I know who you are." He replied, barely audible if it's in a regular setting outside of this deadpan, silent library. "I sit behind you."
You couldn't help but smile due to the severity of the situation. "Oh, shit, well that explains it because I don't turn back often, you know?"
"Gojo." He swallowed. "Gojo Satoru.
"Gojo Satoru." You repeated. "Do you study with someone else often, Gojo?"
He connected the dots. He goes to Princeton afterall. "No." His eyes wandered nervously. "But I suppose it could be more effective if you study with someone who's..." He looked at you from head to toe.
"ambitious and smart." He finished.
"Oh, don't glaze me." You gesture your hand like you're shooing the compliments away. "So that's a yes?"
He paused at the offer. He looked at the books, then back at you, debating whether this is worth his time or not, and his grades. "I..." He looked at you, a real good look.
"You...?"
Of course, you didn't mean it as a mockery, but for someone who lacked social skills, he did take that in a different way. "Rockefeller College, room 312." He blurted out a little too loudly and quickly.
People turned and looked up at their computer at the sudden burst of sound, but turned back to their work when they found out it was some random college guy.
"You're..." You didn't bother with the second audience member. "I'm..." You wanted to say, "You want me to go to you?" But you pulled yourself back. For godsake this is the guy with the book and is sharing with you. Plus, he complimented you so...
"I'll be there tonight at five thirty pm." You smiled. You twisted your heels to leave...
"W-Which..." He blushed even harder when he stuttered to ask a simple question, looking at the books on the table to avoid your gaze when you turned back. "Which dorm building are you in?"
"Me? I'm in New College West."
"Oh." He gulped. "That's a relatively new building."
You shrugged. "Guess I got lucky. I'm more of a modern girl, you know?"
His lips twitched a small smile, a genuine one. He looked up. "That's very nice to know..."
You took a couple of steps toward him, your sweet scent invading his senses with the need for more. "Rockefeller is quite old, but it sure has lots more history to it." You looked into his eyes. "Smaller, more of an intimate feeling?"
The way you said the last sentence, the way you're standing so close to him, eye contact, and your scent...It felt...overwhelming. Especially underneath the gentle pale yellow light, you looked ridiculously more attractive even if you're just wearing the school's hoodie and shorts. He felt the fabric right below his button tighten and his breath become ragged.
He turned his back around to you quickly. "I'll see you later."
Weird. You thought yourself. "See you later, Satoru." You spun around and walked out of the library.
Oh my god. Tears welled up in his eyes from the embarrassment. He covered the bulge in his pants with his hands. He squeezed his eyes shut. What is wrong with me?
He quickly sat down and hid his head behind his arms, taking deep ragged breaths to calm down his 'situation'. How am I supposed to face her after this if this is how I react after the very small interactions?
