We are in a world where all different kind of clans live in harmony, mostly. Each kingdom ignores the other kingdom or openly have a peace treating, which wasn't a surprise seeing after many many wars did they all finally became able to stand each other.
There were 4 kingdoms in total, the Monster kingdom, grown big and having the most control over other species that were on the land seeing they were fast, had a lot of stamina, could with stand tremendous wounds and even had a high IQ. They were seen as mostly the nation to be feared the most of war ever broke out again.
Then there was the water kingdom, as the name would suggest these held the creatures that lived in the waters like mermaid, merfolk, sirens and other living creatures that lived in the deep ocean. They were the reason trading went so well between kingdoms, also the reason why most people wanted to be on their good side seeing as just a flick of their mood could sent many to their death.
Then there were the under dwellers, the monsters that lived under the ground and rather be there then be outside or anywhere else. It was the most peaceful kingdom as no one saw them as a threat, they kept to themselves and delivered fine ores and other materials as trading options which also made them the richest kingdom almost, next to the Monster kingdom of course
and then there was the weakest and maybe the cruelest kingdom. The humans, known to be malicious and even oblivious to anything around them, ignoring warnings daring to trespass onto other kingdoms even known to kill their own kind simply because of stealing a bread. It was no wonder the Monster kingdom took pray on them for their cruel ways and ate them when they wanted too. They didn't necessarily have to kill them, they just picked the worst from time to time. But with that came conflict not all monsters took the rules and even attacked villages just to eat Humans. With that the hatred grew between these 2 kingdoms. Humans hating Monsters for being freaks and human eating beasts. And humans being beings far worse then the monsters not knowing their own weaknesses and blaming each other for everything.
It was no surprise that the Human kingdom was slowly dying out thanks to the egoistical king that wanted to rule the whole nation rather then his own Kingdom. Humans suffered under his rulling, monster died for no reason and war was on the edge of breaking out between two nations. A fear that spread to other nations as well seeing another war could hit everyone in a bad way like last time.
Now here comes our Mc into the play also know as (insert name) you weren't a prince or a nobel heck you weren't even a middle class person. You were hated by most of your village for being different. Not in a bad way, more like....people assumed you were a traitor. Known to show kindness to anyone you saw fit, rumors spread that you helped a monsters that killed a human, others praised you for your kindness in this time of age and then there were the bad people. People that simply tested you, they wanted to see you break and show your true colors. And here is where this story begins but let's turn back a few more weeks shall we? To show what really happened and started this all.
You lived in a quiet Village far on the outskirts of the kingdom, it was mostly troublesome here, people didn't trust anyone, hunger was a second rule here. Starvation was like a second Natural death and killings happened a lot. So not so quiet after all....You wanted to believe it was quiet, it had been before when you were a child but after the new king took over did everything change. Well that's what you vaguely remember, since then everything was like it was always. It felt like this was...normal, even if you didn't like to call this a normal life. The new king had changed everything when his new rules arrived at your doorstep, people were happy to celebrate the new king at first.
But then everything changed, people were no longer to be friends with any kind of monster no matter if it was a mermaid, a hole dweller or a human like horned beast. At first everyone didn't believe it but seeing knights had came punishing anyone who refused any kind of corporations send people into quickly listing. It's a memory burned deep into your mind the day knights showed up in the village while you were picking flowers for your mother. You had wanted to greet them but they pushed past you grabbing a old lady you knew who always gave out candy.
"Ma'am your coming with us for conspiring against the king and bringing everyone in danger by engaging with a monster" the knight said roughly pushing her up and into a carriage, you sat there in confusion and horror at how rough they handled her even as she pleaded. Then they stormed inside her house, if you had known what would of happened next you would of turned your head away. But you didn't know, you didn't know what would happen and watched in confusion as they came out a few minutes later dragging a bloody body that seemed to have used to be a monster child.
"This is what happens when you refuse any order!" The knight had yelled, you would never forget the scene, never ever would you forget how they then thew the corpse on the ground to be left as a warning while they took away the nice lady. She had never returned to the village, you never saw her again or the corpse as shortly after it had been quickly cleaned away by the village elder having buried it with care in a sunny place.
That day changed something in you, you couldn't understand why the king hated monsters, why people were scared of them when they looked so pretty? You didn't understand and tried asking your parents who quickly told you to shut up. You asked the elder next right after he put flowers on the grave of the poor monsters.
"Grandpa Loki, why does the king hate monsters? Aren't they just like us?" You had asked innocently as you placed your own flower on the grave. The Elder had stopped, sighing softly as he turned to you with a soft gaze, a gaze that would remind you for years to come that the path you had chosen was the right path no matter what happened to you.
"I don't know, you see their a bit different then us, much stronger, much faster and a little more clever then we could be. People are scared of them but in a sense they are also similar to us. They too just want to live in peace and have a home" the Elder had said while crouching down to your level letting your head softly.
"You see, young one, do you know of the old tale passed down to the people?" You had shook your head at his words while you both sat in front of the sad grave with no name on it just a small prayer the elder had known himself, to find a light even in passing.
"Old stories say we all were created by 2 beings, one side the monsters, their Creator was strong and had more power then his sibling. He created all kinds of beings to show his love for them, while his sibling struggled, he didn't have as much of power as his older sibling or even the strength to creat a being of his own so he spoke softly to his brother."
"Oh sibling of mine, how are you so clever? How can you be so strong while I can not even call one living thing into my hand?" The brother had asked to his sibling who turned to him, the sibling might of been strong but adored his smaller one. He wanted to give him the word and help him grow as strong.
"My lovely little sibling, I am older, so I am wiser, I trained to be stronger. Do not fear, on day you shall be as strong as me and creat your own" he had spoke but his little sibling was not convinced, he feared he would never grow tall, never grow strong of wise as his brother. Tale says there was a sister as well.
"Oh lovely brothers of Mine, indulge in my idea and join hands, let your ideas merge into one and befall your creations, give them a piece to find a light to hold of their own. Creat a bond that can not be broken even through death." She had spoke to both her siblings having no hands in the creation of this world, she was the oldest of those 3, known to be a beautiful women in all the story's known about her.
"With those words were we born, small humans weak as the little Brother not as smart as other monsters but what we have is a duty" the elder said looking at You while you watched him amazed having listened intently to this story clinging to every words he said to you.
"What is that?" You asked excited, his story strengthened your sight on these rules even more, even at the age of 10 did you know that hating Monsters was wrong, if 2 brothers created humans and Monsters together then why hate eachother? You couldn't see a good reason to hate creatures that were created full of love just like you were by a weaker brother.
"In here is a stolen piece, a piece that belongs to someone that is searching for it. So you see we humans are little thieves you could say. It's said we humans were born weaker for a reason, to go out there and find the person who is missing the piece we stole from them and give it back to them." The elder said booping your nose like he would steal it from you before quickly ruffling your hair, you were confused by his words. You stole something from someone?
"How's does it work Grandpa Loki? I don't remember stealing anything, will they hate me for it?" You had asked full of worry after all you were a kind child back then you were as innocent as a blooming flower that wanted to reach out to the sun to touch it and feel it's warmth with out knowing you would get burned if you reached too far.
"No no, they would be very happy. You see the 2 brothers worried we would hate each other just like now, with their sisters they helped to creat a bond between them that should never have broke. See it like a night light, out there will be a monster in pure darkness all alone and you have their night light that keeps them happy, your job is to find the person and return that happy feeling" the elder said gently while smiling at you, you still didn't quiet get it only that your mission was to find that said person so he wouldn't be scared anymore. From then on you did anything to find that person, well except leaving the village since you were to young and wandering off into the woods was dangers.
You never got a real answer on how you know if you found the right person or if they even existed as all the edler said was, you will know once you reach them. Sadly the elder passed away when you turned 15, now another elder Rules the village, a devastating blow to the already dying village as he doomed it all by spending money where it wasn't need, by punishing people for anything and soon your family suffered under it too.
To keep you healthy your parents sacrificed their own food to you, your father was the first to go after he got into a work accident from being too weak. Not too soon after your mother passed from starvation, a devastating blow that nearly send you spiraling down a dark room that would never release you from its clutches, weren't it for those words for the mission you had set yourself on you would of probably went right after them.
Now here we are, were this story began for its own. Where everything seemed to roll down a huge hill at a speed you couldn't stop it or even comprehend on what was happening at all. All you wanted was a peaceful life find that person your ment to give their piece back to and have a quiet life.
You were now barley 19, you had forgotten your birthday over the years and had no clue when it was anymore so you just guessed it by when winter arrived. Winter was always the most brutal season of the year. People fighting over wood, the village elder taking it away for himself, food growing even more thin then before, the people of the village called you a fool the mothers called you and angel. You knew how to hold your hunger, but the younger children didn't, you would sneak them your food to at least keep their childhood good. Deep down you suffered but it was better then seeing another young child die from hunger.
Today was different though, your hunger was louder then usually, you hadn't eaten in 3 days and were chewing on a small piece of bread you had gotten with the little money you earned, you were now in the woods, you were trying to find fire wood and maybe some hidden winter foods to maybe eat now that your hunger had reached this. But you felt weak after all dizziness was what you had for months on end thanks to being so under malnourished. You knew how danger the woods were now that a war was close to breaking out but you had no choice.
That was when you noticed something, more like a noice, a small whimper and a man yelling. You walked over to the sound, you knew it was stupid but what ever was happening could be a robbery again which you wouldn't stand for but what you saw shocked you even more, you saw a man standing over what seems like a monster which wore a uniform you had never seen before. The man held a weird weapon you had never seen before it looked like ropes hooked with tiny weird needles. What ever it was made the monster weak seeing it tried breaking free but couldn't no matter how hard it tugged. Something in you jolted making the dizziness almost vanish completely, it felt like you need to move.
"That's what you get monster freak! I'm gonna kill you like you deserve" the man yelled pulling a dagger out that was when you moved, you ran up swinging your basket at the man hitting him in the head by surprise, you weren't as strong as you wanted to be but you made him stumble and release the dagger, with out thinking you took it off the ground holding it in your shaky hands.
"B-back off or I-i!! I will kill you!" You stuttered out quiet scared seeing the man looked very angry, you would be too you guessed seeing he was doing something very legal In this kingdom and you just attacked him.
"Are you insane! What's your problem kid! Get out of my way before I kill you to for protecting a monster! I will report you to the knights as well" the man yelled back at you holding his throbbing head, you were scared. You knew he was right that no matter what happened now that you were bound to be reported by him, but you held the tagger tighter wanting to seem stronger then him.
"Fine do it! But I won't let you harm this Monster!!" You say not wavering with your resolve as you hold the dagger tighter pretending to swing at him, it seemed the man had no other weapon with his weird gun of chains on the ground next to you, he grunted wanting to charge at you but you held your ground swinging again, this time you graced his arm that had tried taking the dagger. That seemed to have been enough for him as he cussed and ran off.
"You will be killed anyway the moment you free him fucking Monster Lover! I'm reporting you" he yelled while running of, you relaxed nearly feeling all your courage vanish instantly as the dagger fell from your shaking hands. You nearly forgot the monster behind you weren't it for the growl, you turned around and saw the monster better now, if seemed like it was wearing a mask? He had 3 horns and his hair in a low pony tail from what you could see, his uniform was formel like....a nobel man.? It was colored in black red and gold, making it look elegant and expensive
"I promise your save now, I could never hurt anyone...well except that man by accident" you mumbled seeing your words were backfiring after the monster raised an eyebrow at you, but was that...blush on his mask? Had that been there before? You grabbed the dagger again from the snowy forest ground slowly moving closer making sure to not seem threatening.
"I will try to free you okay?" You said slowly seeing no reaction except it following with its eyes like it was studying you, you took that as a good sign seeing he wasn't growling at you at all....you hopped. You looked at the ropes and hooks that seemed just so weird, ropes coated in something? The hooks having weird pink liquid on it, you didn't know what it was but seeing how the monster couldn't even break free it meant it was bad, monsters are known to be strong and even be able to break through steel chains so a rope holding a monster? Yeah unheard off. You touched hesitantly the ropes and felt the weird stick thing on it feeling your finger grow numb almost instantly. You pulled it back with a surprised gasp before looking at the rope again.
"Can you feel the pain or your limbs?" You asked softly, seeing the monster hadn't really answered anything at all but to your surprise just as you were about to give up hoping for a answer, he shook his head telling you he didn't feel the pain or his limbs, well you assumed, you tried to carefully cut the ropes and remove the hooks with the fabric of your sleeve from your jacket. You saw some small wounds all over his arms thanks to the hoops but you had no medicine around with you not like your village had anything at all.
"Your free now, can you walk or should I help you anywhere?" You asked with a soft smile seeing the monster hadn't attacked you yet at all and seemed quiet happy with you, you guessed seeing he was smiling but that could also mean he was about to...eat you? You weren't sure so you just stayed kneeling before him. At your question he seems surprised like he didn't expect you to even stay this long. Only his smile growing bigger. Oh boy....You out all your courage together as you reached out trying to pull him to his feet to see if he maybe could stand. Surprisingly he did stand, but why was he so big! With how wobbly he was you were sure he wouldn't even be able to walk 5 meters before falling so you gulped your nervousness down and let him lean on your own weak body.
"Not much of a talker huh? Can You point me into a direction or should I take you into a cave for now?" You said hesitantly as you already were struggling with just his weight on you. He didn't answer just shaking his head so you dragged him as best as you could to a small cave you knew was around there you set him up against the cave wall and quickly tried finding fire wood to use, you didn't want him to freeze so you have him your own winter jacket knowing you would freeze maybe a little more now.
Boy if you had known how this would of all ended you might of never have done what you had done next, because this is a decision you might regret for ever in you whole life even if you didn't mind your decisions before for saving the said monster. You would do that again with out hesitant.
