BUZZZZ
BUZZ
"Okay you guys, I hear you," Eugene smiled, rolling his eyes. He spun around on his chair, giving them the expression that parents give little kids when they're 'too busy to play with them' "I'm almost done, I'll give you attention soon,"
The buzzing got louder, as if they were getting excited. Eugene just laughed quietly to himself.
"BOO!"
"EE- FUCK! PUGSLEY!" Eugene dropped honey all down his front, he had been pouring them into jars to sell at the next Nevermore market.
"Oops-"
"That's all you have to say!?"
"Atleast you'll taste even better now!"
"Ok, shut up," he sighed, pulling him closer. He planted a small kiss on his lips.
"What are you doing here? I thought you had your medical training today?" He spun back around on his chair, his attention going to the bees.
"Yeah.. I did, the teacher kinda... died."
"What? Oh god, what did you do-" Eugene asked.
"Why would you think I had something to do with it!?" He exclaimed, putting a hand to his chest as if pointing to himself.
"Pugsley, I know you. What explosive did you use this time..?"
"I didn't use an explosive! ...the poison worked well enough-" he mumbled the last bit, Eugene heard, of course.
"PUGSLEY!"
"Whattt??"

"UNCLE PETEEE!" A little girl came running down the hallway, followed by her little brother who was dressed in a dinosaur onesie. Their blonde curly hair bouncing atop of their heads as they ran, their laughter echoed throughout the hallway. Pete dropped to his knees, holding his arms out.
"Ivy! Oh wow, look how you've grown!" He smiled, "Are you taller?"
"Yeah! Mom says I've grown atleast two inches! Is that a lot?"
"Sure is, oh and Mars, that's a very scary dinosaur costume,"
Mars just made a sound in reply, Pete guessed that it was his attempt at a roar.
"Thank you for coming over, Peter.. I have to get to work," his sister, Alexis, came around the corner, putting on lipstick as she walked.
"The company has a big presentation today and I need to push the product. I think it might be the thing to get me the promotion I've been wanting!" She smiled, looking excited.
"That's great, Al, I hope you get it," he just smiled back, though.. he knew looking professional wasn't all that lipstick and perfume was for.
"Mommy will be back as soon as possible, darlings. Ivy, look after Marshall.. I don't want to find him stuck upside down in a toy tub again when I get home,"
"Okay mom!"
Mars cringed hearing his real name, no one called him that.. except his mother.
Alexis left, shutting the door behind her. Immediately, Ivy started pulling on Pete's hand.
"Oh!"
"Can you play us a songgg?" She begged, pulling him to their grand piano.. besides him playing for them occasionally the piano was basically unused.. it had been their father's before he-
well, before he left.
"Uh.. I don't know, Ives.."
"Pleaseeee?" Mars looked up at him, those big pleading eyes shimmered under the sun, peeking in between the curtains.
"Okay," he sighed. "What song?"
"Can you play that one you told us reminds you of that girl?" Her grin never faded.. Pete's on the other hand shrunk slightly.
"Oh.. okay, yeah I suppose,"
"Yay!" Mars cheered, almost tripping over his green plush dinosaur tail.
He sat down at the seat, his fingers finding the keys. The song came slowly, he pressed the keys, the tune floating through the air. He didn't need the music sheet anymore, he had it memorised. This song.. it was what he always played when they were littler. He was surprised they even remembered it but they sung along perfectly. 'The story of my life' by One Direction always made him feel a bit sad, it reminded him of Agnes.. what happened and it made him wonder... what was he doing with his life?

"Wednesday?" Pugsley knocked on the door, holding hands with Eugene.
"Come in,"
He pushed open the door and Eugene turned away immediately, almost gagging.
She was bent over herself, legs over her head but feet still touching the floor.. she had always been quite flexible, she didn't used to like it but she was. However, recently she had found her comfort in contortion.
"Tell your boyfriend to harden up, Pugsley."
"Yeah, I'd stop, I don't think he can even look at you right now," he laughed.
She got up, sitting cross legged on the floor. Spider immediately climbed into her lap. He purred loudly. Opal and Thing sat on Wednesday's bed, sunbathing in the light that came in from the window. They both wore pink sunglasses and lay on a tiny beach towels.
"Hi.. Wednesday-" Eugene mumbled, finally looking up.. now that she was- not doing that..
"Hello, Eugene."
"We've come to ask you if you wanted to come get coffee with us, you haven't really.. left the house much besides work-" he smiled awkwardly, Wednesday raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, well.. I guess I've been busy- research and things... it is that time of year again-"
Usual people would think she meant that it was the time of year work got busy.. or the time of year that she starts studying for another college test.
But no..
Eugene and Pugsley knew exactly what she meant. Tomorrow was the day it all started three years ago, the day Wednesday and the others kidnapped him and Pugsley, to get their help.. to start the search for Enid.
"Wednesday, come on.. Enid made peace with it-" Pugsley tried, but she shot him a glare, one of her piercing Wednesday Addams glares. She lifted Spider off her lap and stood up.
"I'll go with you two.. but can we just- not talk about it-"
"Sure.." Pugsley smiled.. it was a slightly hurt one but he was just happy to have got Wednesday out of the house.
"I just need to get my bag,"
"Alright, I'll go start the car." Eugene smiled excitedly, spinning the key ring around his finger as he walked. Their plan had worked! Mission 'get Wednesday away from solitude' was a success so far.
Pugsley and Wednesday just stood in the hallway.
"Aren't you going to get your bag?"
"That's not all you came here for, is it?" Her stare was blank, she knew how to read him like a book. His nervousness radiated from his body like heat from a heater.
"Well.. yeah- I was going to ask you at the café-"
"You want to ask him to marry you." She crossed her arms, a guess mainly. Pugsley's eyes widened, shocked, but it quickly turned to a soft, worried laugh.
"Aha.. the psychic is right once again," he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, sighing.
"That's a great idea,"
"REALLY!?" He yelled, even more shocked than before, he looked towards the open door.. "AhM- I mean- really?" He whispered.
Wednesday rolled her eyes.
"Look, you piss me off, you're my brother. I'm pretty sure that's how this sibling thing is meant to work.. you piss me off and I piss you off," she didn't whisper, just spoke in her usual monotone voice. "Eugene's my friend.. it seems like it's a lasting relationship and he somehow makes you more tolerable,"
"..thank you?" He was confused about how to feel about that.
"You're welcome, let's go." She grabbed her backpack, walking out the door. He followed her with a smile.
Side quest, completed.

"AJAXXXX" Mars threw his arms around him, giving him a hug.
"Heyyy, little buddy!" He picked him up, spinning around. "I heard your uncle's around here somewhere?"
"FUCK-"
...
"Well, there he is.." Ajax sighed, walking down the hallway to the living room, Pete lay face first on the floor while Ivy sat on a stool at the island bar, sipping her juice box.
"Seriously?" Ajax laughed.
"Uncle got hit when I threw him the ball," Ivy told him, pointing to a massive yoga ball that was sat a few metres from Pete's head. He groaned into the floor, while Ajax tried to think of how the fuck this tiny six year old took down a nineteen year old.
"Pete.. get up."
"Fuck," Mars smiled, repeating what his uncle had said.
"Uh oh.." Ajax mumbled..

Wednesday drinks her tea as black as her soul, It literally surprises no one.
"So, what are you two up to?" She asked. A long time ago now, she had promised Pugsley that she'd try to care when making conversations.
"Uh well, I'm still working for the school, the Nevermore market's coming up soon! It's going to be really fun. I hope I have enough inventory- your brother made me spill a whole jar of honey of myself," Eugene rolled his eyes, giving him the finger.
Pugsley gasped.
"Who.. mE???" He batted his eyes, moving his face closer to Eugene's. He laughed and pushed him away.
"Anyways," Wednesday started.. kicking the back of her foot. "That's interesting. Are the bees okay? Has Pugsley eaten any of them?"
"No. I told him we're done if he eats any,"
"Unfortunately I care a lot.." Pugsley sighed. "I swear, if it was anyone else." He took a sip of his hot chocolate.
"What about you, Pugsley? Still taking that medical course..?" She smiled.
"Yeah, it's great.." He laughed, "I can't wait to keep learning, it's really interesting."
"Woah.. that's the first time anyone has EVER heard something like that from Pugsley Addams," Eugene gasped, laughing.
~✰~
"FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!" Mars yelled, laughing manically as he ran around the house.
"NO! MARS STOPP!" Pete yelled.
"WHY IS HE SO FAST-" Ajax complained, him and Pete had been trying to catch him for the past twenty minutes.
Meanwhile, Ivy's empty juice box pile was getting higher and higher. She was getting sick of watching this, it was so incredibly sad.
"Mars, shut up." She said softly, taking another sip.
Mars completely stopped, not saying a word. Pete and Ajax tripped over, falling flat on top of each other while trying to slow down.
Mars started laughing at them on the ground together. They both just sighed.

"Howdy, roomie!"
"Good god, shut up.." Enid whispered, covering her ears and sitting on the floor with her legs against her chest.
She didn't know how long she'd been there.. or what was happening. There was no way out- all she knew was that she had been watching her life on replay over and over again. It was like being stuck in a lobby of a hotel and never being able to get to your room or even leave.. she was all alone- it was messing with her head and starting to get to her...
There has to be a way out..
There just has to be...
Please-

"That was a great day," Eugene smiled, pushing open the door to their apartment. Pugsley kissed his cheek.
"Sure was, killed someone and forced my sister out of solitary confinement.. might just be the best day ever!" He threw his hands up in the air.
"You're way too enthusiastic about that," Eugene smiled, sitting on the kitchen counter as he drank cold orange juice out of a cup. Pugsley walked over, resting his head on his shoulder.
"Yeah, well today was a good day nonetheless," he smiled, replaying his favourite part in his head.
Wednesday's acceptance.
He wanted to ask her, to see what she thought. He would've done it anyway, whether or not she said yes but he wanted to know how she'd feel. Knowing she wouldn't mind made him feel a bit more excited about it. Eugene rambled on about ladybugs, he didn't even know how he started talking about them, he just did, kicking his feet as he talked.. Pugsley smiled into his shoulder.
"Did you know that they've been to space? In 1999, four ladybugs went to space. They were all named after the Beatles, I find that quite funny like who names a ladybug John?"
"That's nice, bee."
"Are you okay?"
"I'm great, just tired. I still need to rework the wiring on the bomb I'm making.."
"I'm like.. pretty sure that's illegal by the way, honey.." Eugene laughed.
"I'm all for illegal activities,"
"You're going to get us killed one day," Eugene smiled. "You can do that tomorrow, did you even get any sleep last night? You look tired,"
"I'm an Addams, It's genetics.." he dismissed, giggling tiredly.
"Pugsley, you look more tired than usual, are you sure you're okay?" Eugene asked, a little concerned. He cupped his face with his hands, inspecting it like one of his bugs. Pugsley gulped, thinking about an answer.. an excuse. He wanted the proposal to be a surprise.
"Yeah, I- I just have a test tomorrow at school.." he blurted out. Eugene gave him that face that totally read 'That's bullshit.' But he didn't push.
"Alright well, I'm going to go get ready for bed, come in soon." He kissed him gently and then slid off the counter, walking into the bedroom. Pugsley laughed slightly.. the nervous energy melting, the tingle that always stuck around every time Eugene kissed him made it do so. Fuck, he loved him..
He pulled the ring box out of his pocket and looked down at it.. he was nervous for two reasons, first of all.. he'd be basically inviting Eugene to join his family.. his strange.. crazy family where no one was even slightly calm about anything, where everyone was wanted for doing at least one illegal thing..
Second.. what if it was too much? Would it ruin everything.. would it get awkward? Would he stop talking to him? That would hurt.. too much-
if he said no.. that was alright, if he's not ready... but if he stopped talking to him he didn't know what he'd do-
The ring sparkled in the box, the gold band sticking into the cardboard that kept it in place. There was a round diamond in the middle with smaller ones around it in the shape of leaves, it was perfect.. in all ways-
Like his bee..
He shut the box, sighing as he went to bed.
Was it worth the risk..?
