~Bijo Zenin~

Standing at the edge of the Zenin estate after having another chat with Naobito Zenin, the current clan head and a special grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer, I feel a smile snake its way onto my lips.

I’m free.

That was probably a bit of an over exaggeration, as a Zenin, I’d always be tied to my family, and, unless I become a special grade sorcerer, I’ll always have to come running when the clan pulls the invisible leash of obligation that hangs around my neck. But other than that, I could finally call myself free as a limousine pulls up in front of me.

Letting the servant who was standing next to me take my luggage to the boot, I make my way into the limousine before lying across a row of seats.

“Ah~!”

If I were still in the Zenin estate, doing something like this would have no doubt gotten me into hot bother, or it would get me a beating, depending on who saw me…

Wincing at the thought, my mind helpfully replays the many times my fellow clan members, mainly Naoya, have beaten me black and blue. It wasn’t surprising; we are one of the three great families alongside the Gojo clan and the Kamo clan, and we’re expected to keep a certain level of skill and strength, but couldn’t they just go a little easier on me?

Grumbling to myself as the limousine begins to make its way towards Tokyo Jujutsu High, I feel my mind being brought back to my conversation from earlier with Naobito.

Naobito, even though he’s a drunkard and a prick, is one of the nicer members of the clan, and you can actually talk to him, though he might not remember the chat depending on how many drinks he’s had.

My conversation with him today was just going over what we talked about a while ago, me going to Tokyo Jujutsu High as a student. The conversation, even though he was as drunk as he physically could be, was rather enjoyable.

Of course, I could have asked to go to the Kyoto Jujutsu High instead of the Tokyo one; hell, Noabito probably would have allowed me to go there with no real push back, but I chose the Tokyo one for a multitude of reasons.

One: My second aunt, Maki Zenin, and my cousin, Megumi Fushiguro, both attended there and seeing as Megumi is the same age as me, he and I will most likely be sharing a class.

Of course, there was also my other second aunt, Mai, attending Kyoto, but that was honestly more reason to avoid it. I don’t hate or dislike Mai, as many other members of the clan do, but I honestly found her a bit weird since every time we’ve met, she’s made a pass at me.

While it wasn’t strange for members of the same clan to get into a relationship of an incestuous nature, and I personally don’t care about what other people do in their love life, she kind of just makes me a little uncomfortable.

The second reason I wanted to go to Tokyo Jujutsu High is that my teacher would by default be Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer in the world and the holder of the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique.

If anyone can make me into something other than just another member of the Zenin clan without a technique, it would have to be Gojo, right?

Of course, I kept that reason from Naobito, seeing as he has a distaste for Satoru Gojo and his entire clan, though that bad blood had existed long before Naobito was even born, thanks to the constant battles between the two clans back in the day.

Chuckling slightly at the thought of the bad blood, both Satoru Gojo and Megumi Fushiguro come to mind. One of the biggest factors for our clans hating each other was thanks to the battle between the former Six Eyes and Ten Shadows users killing each other, and now the current ones have a strange father-son dynamic.

I still remember the day that Naobito found out that Satoru Gojo had taken Megumi Fushiguro in, since it was apparently Toji Fushiguro’s, my uncle’s, last wish. Naobito was really, really angry, and I was lucky to be in one of the many training grounds instead of at the main estate at the time.

Though I do wonder what my uncle was like. From what I could scrounge up from the Zenin clan records, it seems he was branded a freak from birth before eventually leaving and taking on a new last name.

I still remember the day I asked my father, Jinichi Zenin, about Toji and the subsequent ass-whooping he hit me with as soon as I brought up the name. Even to this day, I still have scars from that beating.

Pushing the bad memories of my clan away, which, now that I think about it, is quite a few, I gaze outside the window of the rather lavish vehicle. The scenery was what I expected, woodland as far as the eye could see as we travelled along the winding roads that led away from the Zenin estate.

Being in a class with a fellow Zenin, or in this case a Fushiguro, was optimal. I’d spent nearly my entire life on the Zenin estate, only leaving for meetings with the higher-ups of jujutsu society and other clans or a rare exorcism of a curse.

Thinking about those rather lacklustre exorcisms, mostly against grade 4 and grade 3 curses, I can’t help but feel a little bit more excited about Jujutsu High. I’d be put on missions against powerful curses. Maybe I’d get to fight a grade 1 curse? Though I’m unsure if I could win…

While I have had some of the best training one can have in jujutsu society, thanks to my clan. I don’t have a cursed technique, and I wasn’t allowed to retrieve a cursed tool from the Zenin weapon stash, so all I have to fall back on is my slightly larger-than-normal cursed energy supply.

Turning away from the window, I shuffle over to the table next to my seat before pouring myself a cup of high-quality sake that had been left out for anyone who uses the limousine.

Taking a sip, the drink smoothly goes down my throat as I begin thinking about what I should do when I get to Jujutsu High. I was given a bit of money from Naobito, and I’ll be receiving a small amount of money, small in reference to what the Zenin clan can give out, every month.

If I save up for a while, I can probably buy a decent cursed tool, but in the end, I can probably just borrow one from Jujutsu High instead and buy it off them later if I like it.

The main thing I wanted to get while at school was a contract with a shikigami. While not particularly powerful, on average, they are around the grade 4 or 3 range, but can sometimes be higher. They are useful tools that I can use to either help me fight or keep enemies distracted.

In the world of Jujutsu, even a weak sacrifice can mean the world when fighting a cursed spirit or a curse user. Just go look at the power of Binding Vows if you don’t believe me.

Finishing off my cup of sake, I lay down on the seats of the limousine once more as I get ready to sleep. The distance to Tokyo Jujutsu High was decently far away, and I had nothing to do in the meantime, so resting was my best option.

[Chaos System Initiated!]

Rising from my lying position to a sitting one, as a transparent blue screen appears in front of me, I raise an eyebrow.

[Rolling Gold Random Ticket!]

A what? Reinforcing my body with cursed energy, I begin preparing. Is this some type of mental cursed technique that a curse user might be using? But if so, why me? I’m not important enough to have an assassin sent after me.

[Petal Burst] |Rare Ability| |Changer/Mover|

RWBY - Allows you to temporarily shift into the form of a mass of rose petals to move at superspeeds for a short duration, in rose form you are more resistant toward physical attack and anything you are in contact with is also in this form, but the larger the mass the higher the energy consumption. In addition, your control over your direction is lessened.

Feeling a strange energy settle in my chest, I gasp as info is sent into my brain. Holding my hand up, I instinctively call upon the strange energy, which seems to completely ignore my cursed energy as it rushes through my body. I watch as my hand turns into a mass of rose petals before turning back into flesh.

This doesn’t seem to be a curse or a curse user attacking me, but this isn’t something fuelled by cursed energy, so what is it?

Thinking back on the first message I received, I hum. The Chaos System? Holding my hand out and swapping it from rose to normal form over and over again, I smirk slightly.

This couldn’t be something clan-related, right? Never have I heard of anyone holding a power like this, something the Zenin would definitely brag about.

We have the Ten Shadows, a cursed technique that allows us to rival the Gojo clans' Six Eyes and Limitless, but something like this is new, foreign even.

Continuing to play with my new power, it seems like I’ve found something to entertain myself with for the next few hours as I wait to arrive at Jujutsu High.

~Satoru Gojo~

Stretching slightly before following Masamichi Yaga, my former teacher and current principal of Tokyo’s Jujutsu High, as we make our way to the entrance of the school to meet our newest student.

Bijo Zenin, a member of the Zenin clan whom I know nothing about other than the fact that he’s around the average level of strength for a Zenin. Does he hold Zenin values? Does he like how the old bastards rule Jujutsu society? These were the questions I’m curious about.

If he’s weak but shows potential, I can nurture that, but I hate the idea of accidentally making a new Usami for the elders to use as they please, so if he’s a bootlicker, I’ll have to try to change his way of thinking.

Arriving at the entrance of Jujutsu High, Yaga and I wait for the new student to arrive as I reach into the bag of sweets I brought with me and start eating.

“So… what do you think our new student is going to be like?”

Asking my question in between bites of my sweets, Yaga thinks over my words for a moment before answering, “If we use Maki, another member of the Zenin, as an example, he’ll be an exemplary student whose beliefs differ from the rest of the clan.”

“And if we don’t use Maki as an example?” Asking the important question, Yaga runs his hand down his face in annoyance.

“He’ll probably be someone like Naoya.” Feeling my nose crinkle at that idea, I can only hope that it won’t be true. Naoya, from the few times I’ve met him, is an example of every bad thing that makes up the Zenin clan.

Stopping myself from continuing as a limousine park in front of Jujustu High, I stop in place as Yaga continues moving forward, and our newest student steps out of the vehicle.

Blinking once, then twice, I almost think that the Six Eyes might be tricking me before pushing that thought aside. The Six Eyes never lie, so…

Reaching up to my blindfold and taking it off, I can’t help but feel confused as I try to figure out what that ball of golden energy in his chest is.

~Bijo Zenin~

Greeting principal Yaga and having a quick chat with him, my eyes darted towards Satoru Gojo as he walked up to us without his blindfold on, his bright blue eyes glistening like water being hit by light, while giving me a weird look.

“Yo!”

Returning Satoru Gojo’s greeting as we shake hands, I try to ignore the fact that he’s staring at me so intensely as we make our way through the school grounds and Yaga explains the point of each area.

Jujutsu High is large, not as large as the Zenin estate, of course, but it’s still impressive. Making our way into an arena of sorts, I hum while looking around.

“Hey, kid.”

Turning towards Gojo, still without his blindfold on, I raise an eyebrow as he steps in the middle of the arena.

“Wanna fight?”

Feeling my body tense at the idea, I subconsciously take a step back as Gojo smirks at me. Yaga, seemingly not expecting Gojo to do something like this, calls out to him, “The hell do you think you’re, Satoru?!”

“EH?!” Looking at Yaga with the same expression you’d give to someone who asked a dumb question, he answers, “Isn’t it obvious? I feel like we should test our newest student's level of skill before they become a full-fledged member of the school, right?”

Ignoring Yaga’s yelling at Gojo, I begin thinking over whether I should accept the fight. It was stupid; no one, except for the current Ten Shadows user if he summons the Divine General, could hope to fight Gojo and win, or at least tie. But…

Walking over to the opposite side of the arena from Gojo, I drop down into a fighting stance. “I accept your challenge.”

Watching Gojo smile with joy, and Yaga’s jaw drop to the floor, I couldn’t help but smile slightly. I know this is a stupid idea, I can’t win, but I want to see the strongest fight with my own two eyes and to experience the difference in power.

Looking at Gojo, I decide to strike first as I cover my body in cursed energy and rush forward towards him at a speed a normal human could only hope of ever matching.

Gojo simply puts his hands in his pockets as I send out a punch, and it gets caught by Infinity. Smirking, Gojo reinforces his leg with curse energy before kicking me away and into the wall.

“Oh, come on.” Chuckling, Gojo starts moving towards me. “Don’t hold back.” Saying the last part quietly enough so Yaga can’t hear him, my eyes widen slightly as I look into his sky-blue eyes.

Smiling at me, I can’t help but frown. It seems that the Six Eyes truly are as bullshit as I’ve heard. To think that he can see my new trick was rather annoying, but… was there really a reason to keep it hidden? In the world of Jujutsu, I’d eventually have to use it, and if anyone can help me master such a strange power, it’d definitely be Satoru Gojo.

Smirking as my body turns into a swarm of rose petals and rushes towards Gojo as he tilts his head in confusion, and my now rose petal form rushes straight towards him, I quickly move to Gojo’s back before turning back and attempting to strike with a cursed energy-infused fist.

Frowning as my fist is once again stopped by Infinity, I realise how fucked I am as Satoru Gojo reels his fist back and delivers a blow to the stomach, which causes me to spit up blood as I’m sent away from him.

Feeling my eyes widen as pain jolts through my body, I have to focus to hear the words coming out of Satoru Gojo’s mouth, “Hmmm? Not a bad technique, with a bit of training, you might even be able to outpace that old drunkard.”

Looking at Gojo, who’s smiling from ear to ear at me, I can’t help but smile a little as I stand up. I knew from the start that this battle would end quickly with Gojo being the winner, but I couldn’t help but be happy at the praise.

To hear from someone like Gojo that one day I might be able to outspeed Naobito (Who else could be the drunkard he’s talking about?) inflated my ego a good bit. Naobito is the fastest sorcerer… behind Satoru Gojo, of course.

Blinking in surprise as Gojo disappears for a moment before re-appearing in front of me, I quickly turn into rose petals as he lets out a barrage of punches that simply pass through the mass of petals.

While I can’t attack while in this form, I’m more than able to take blunt attacks like that. Though I should definitely be careful with people who use bladed weapons or have Cursed Techniques that can damage a large area, like Satoru Gojo-

Oh no.

Watching as Gojo, not letting up on the attack, creates a small ball in his hand, which begins pulling in all the rose petals. I curse as a few rose petals get shredded by the blue ball, which makes me wince.

Pulling my body back together, seeing as the only other choice was to get shredded by Gojo’s technique, I let out a gasp of pain as Gojo delivers the winning strike to my chest, the sound of my ribs breaking sounding out before I’m sent through a wall.

“GODAMN IT, GOJO! DON’T YOU KNOW THE MEANING OF RESTRAINT?!” Barely hearing the shouting of Yaga, I feel my mind being lulled into unconsciousness as pain racks my body, with the last thing I notice being words that appear in front of my eyes.
