The large hall of the event venue was already full before the press conference even started. Cameras were set on tripods, microphones were arranged neatly on the table and reporters were whispering among themselves while waiting.
The big screen behind the stage showed the logo of Lenskart along with pictures of stylish glasses. The event today was special, because a very famous actor Nani Hirunkit was invited to represent the brand as a celebrity guest and even before he arrived the excitement in the room was clear. Many reporters were adjusting their cameras again and again making sure everything was perfect. Some of them were already discussing what questions they would ask him.
" Did you see his latest photoshoot? "
One reporter whispered to another.
" Of course! Fans are going crazy for him everywhere "
The other replied.
Everyone knew how popular Nani had become. His acting, his visuals and especially his charming personality had made him extremely loved by fans around the world. Whenever he appeared at events the crowd would go wild.
After a few minutes the event host walked onto the stage with a bright smile.
'' Ladies and gentlemen thank you for coming today. We are very happy to have such an amazing guest with us. Please welcome the talented actor who is here to represent Lenskart today.. Nani Hirunkit! ''
The moment his name was announced the room suddenly became loude, camera shutters started clicking rapidly and then Nani walked onto the stage.
He looked calm and elegant wearing a simple but stylish black suit. On his face were sleek glasses from Lenskart which made him look even more attractive. His hair was styled perfectly and he gave a small polite bow before sitting down on the chair prepared for him.
'' Hello everyone ''
Nani said with a gentle smile. His voice was soft, but confident.
Immediately the reporters began taking even more photos. Some of them even laughed quietly, because Nani looked slightly shy from the sudden attention.
The host continued speaking.
'' Today Nani is here as a special guest representing Lenskart and sharing his experience with the brand ''
Nani nodded politely.
'' I'm very happy to be here today. I really like how Lenskart focuses on both comfort and style ''
He said in simple words. His tone was relaxed and he looked comfortable speaking in front of the audience.
The host then announced that the press could start asking questions. Immediately many hands went up. One reporter stood up first.
" Nani can you tell us how you feel representing Lenskart today? ''
Nani smiled.
" I feel honored honestly. Glasses are something many people wear every day so it's nice to talk about something useful, but also stylish. I think everyone deserves to feel confident in what they wear ''
The reporters nodded while writing notes. Another reporter raised her hand.
'' Which glasses from Lenskart do you personally like the most? ''
Nani gently touched the glasses he was wearing and laughed a little.
'' These ones ''
He said.
The room chuckled softly.
'' They are comfortable and also look simple. I like simple things ''
More camera flashes filled the room. For a few minutes the questions stayed about fashion, glasses and his acting career. Nani answered everything politely and carefully. He spoke calmly while sometimes joking lightly which made the reporters laugh, but slowly the questions started changing.
One reporter raised his hand and asked with a teasing smile.
'' Nani your fans are very curious about your personal life ''
The moment those words were spoken a few reporters laughed quietly. Nani also laughed a little, but scratched the back of his neck nervously.
'' Ahh my personal life... ''
He repeated.
'' Yes. Are you currently single? ''
The room suddenly became quiet, because everyone was waiting for his answer. Nani looked down for a moment then smiled awkwardly.
'' I think that question is very dangerous ''
He said jokingly. Everyone laughed, but the reporter continued.
'' So are you single? ''
Nani tried to stay calm, but the tips of his ears had already turned slightly red.
'' I think I'm focusing on work right now ''
He answered carefully.
Another reporter immediately raised her hand.
'' So that means you are single? ''
Nani laughed again clearly a little shy now.
'' I didn't say that ''
He replied.
The room filled with playful reactions and then another reporter asked something even more direct.
'' Do you have a girlfriend? ''
Nani paused for a second, bur then another reporter added loudly from the back of the room.
'' Or a boyfriend? ''
The moment the word boyfriend was said something funny happened. Nani's calm expression suddenly broke. His cheeks instantly turned pink. He tried to keep a straight face, but the blush on his face was very obvious. Some reporters immediately noticed.
'' Ohhhhh ''
'' Look he's blushing! ''
'' He's blushing! ''
The room filled with laughter. Nani covered his face for a second with his hand clearly embarrassed.
'' No no no I'm not blushing ''
He said quickly, but that only made the reporters laugh even more.
'' Then why is your face red? ''
Someone teased.
Nani shook his head helplessly.
'' You guys are dangerous ''
He said while laughing.
Another reporter spoke again.
'' So girlfriend or boyfriend? ''
The moment the word boyfriend was repeated Nani's ears turned red again. He tried to drink some water to calm himself down.
'' I think some questions should stay mysterious ''
He said carefully and that answer only made the reporters even more curious.
'' So there is someone? ''
Another reporter asked.
Nani smiled, but did not answer immediately. He looked down at the table for a momen clearly trying to control his expression and then he finally spoke.
'' I think everyone deserves a private life too ''
He said gently. His tone was calm, but his shy smile made many reporters suspicious. Some of them whispered to each other.
'' He definitely reacted when the word boyfriend was mentioned ''
'' Did you see that? ''
'' Yes, he blushed immediately ''
The teasing continued.
One brave reporter asked again.
'' Nani fans say you look happiest when you talk about someone special. Is there someone who makes you smile like that? ''
Nani looked slightly surprised by the question and then he smiled softly.
'' I think everyone has someone who makes them smile ''
He replied.
The reporters looked at each other again.
'' That sounds like a yes ''
Someone whispered. Nani laughed again and shook his head.
'' You guys are making stories already ''
The host quickly stepped in before the teasing became too intense.
'' Alright let's also ask some questions related to today's event ''
The host said with a smile. The reporters laughed and nodded. Another question came.
'' Nani what kind of glasses style do you think suits you the most? ''
Nani relaxed again and answered normally.
'' I think simple designs suit me best. Something comfortable that I can wear every day ''
But even while answering normal questions a few reporters still whispered and giggled about the earlier moment, because honestly it was very hard to miss. Every single time someone mentioned the word boyfriend Nani's cheeks turned red and the more he tried to hide it the more obvious it became.
At one point another reporter jokingly said,
'' We promise we won't ask again, but are you really single? ''
Nani looked at the reporter with an amused expression.
'' You don't look like someone who will keep that promise ''
He said and the room burst into laughter again.
The press conference continued for almost an hour. Nani answered questions about acting, fashion and his experience working with different brands. He remained polite, calm and charming the entire time, but the moment that everyone would remember the most was definitely when the reporters asked about his private life, because every single time the word boyfriend came up Nani could not stop blushing.
The press conference was still going on. Reporters were still asking questions one after another. Some questions were about acting, some about fashion and some were still trying to sneak in questions about Nani Hirunkit and his private life.
Nani was sitting calmly on the stage answering everything politely. He kept smiling sometimes laughing softly when the reporters teased him, but inside he was already a little tired from all the questions.
Especially the personal ones.
Every time someone mentioned girlfriend or boyfriend the reporters looked at him carefully while waiting to see his reaction and every time the word boyfriend came up his ears turned slightly red. He tried to stay calm, but the teasing atmosphere made it difficult.
Another reporter was asking him about his future acting projects when something suddenly happened.
A soft light appeared on the table. Nani's phone screen lit up. The phone was placed quietly beside him on the table. Normally he would ignore it during an event like this, but for some reason the moment the screen lit up he had a strange feeling. He already knew who it was. Without even checking the name his heart somehow recognized it. He tried to continue listening to the reporter, but his eyes quickly moved toward the glowing screen and just like he thought.... it was a message from the one person who always made his heart feel soft.
His one and only boyfriend.
Sky.
Nani quickly glanced down for just a second so no one would notice. A small notification appeared. Sky had sent a picture.
Nani carefully picked up the phone and slightly lowered it under the table so the cameras wouldn't capture the screen and then he opened the message.
The moment the picture appeared his expression softened instantly.
In the photo Sky was sitting on their couch at home. His hair looked a little messy like he had just woken up or had been lying down for a while. He was hugging a pillow tightly to his chest and looking at the camera with a small pout on his face. Behind him the living room looked quiet. It looked like he was alone.
Below the picture Sky had written a short caption.
'' I miss my P'hirun. When are you coming back home? ''
The moment Nani read the message his heart melted. A warm smile slowly appeared on his face. He tried to control it, but it was impossible.
Sky always had this effect on him. Even when he was busy in the middle of a big press conference one simple message from Sky could completely change his mood.
Nani looked at the photo again for a second.
Sky was hugging the pillow like it was a person almost like he was pretending the pillow was Nani. The thought made Nani chuckle quietly.
'' Is everything okay Nani? ''
The host suddenly asked.
Nani quickly looked up. He didn't even realize that he had been smiling at his phone.
'' Yes yes ''
He said quickly.
He placed the phone back on the table, but his smile was still there. One of the reporters noticed it immediately.
'' You suddenly look very happy ''
She said suspiciously. The room suddenly became curious again. Nani blinked once.
'' Umm... really? ''
'' Yes, your expression changed ''
Another reporter said.
Nani tried to act calm.
'' It was just a message ''
He replied.
'' From who? ''
Someone immediately asked.
The reporters leaned forward slightly. Nani laughed awkwardly.
'' You guys really don't miss anything ''
Another reporter grinned.
'' Was it from your girlfriend? ''
The room went quiet again.
Nani rubbed the back of his neck.
'' No ''
He said softly.
Another voice from the back shouted playfully.
'' Boyfriend? ''
And just like before Nani's face turned completely red. Some reporters gasped dramatically.
'' There! He's blushing again! ''
'' Oh my god! ''
Nani quickly covered his face with his hand.
'' No! Please stop ''
He said while laughing, but the more embarrassed he looked the more the reporters enjoyed teasing him.
'' Was it really your boyfriend? ''
'' Did he send the message? ''
'' Is that why you smiled like that? ''
Questions started flying again. Nani shook his head helplessly.
'' You guys are creating stories again ''
He said, but the truth was that they were not completely wrong, because at that exact moment his phone lit up again. Another message from Sky. Nani glanced down carefully. Sky had sent another text.
'' Why aren't you replying? Are you busy again? ''
Then another message came immediately after.
'' Did you eat? Don't forget to eat ''
Nani felt his chest grow warm. Even though Sky was the one who said he missed Nani he was still worried about him. That was just how Sky was. Always soft and caring.
Nani typed a quick reply under the table.
'' I'm at the press event. I'll come home soon ''
A few seconds later Sky replied again.
'' Really?? ''
Then another message came with a cute emoji.
'' Come fast 🥺 The house feels empty without you 🤧🎀 ''
Nani couldn't stop smiling. He quickly locked his phone again and placed it on the table, but this time the smile stayed on his face. The host noticed it too.
'' You seem very happy now ''
The host said.
Nani laughed softly.
'' Maybe a little ''
One reporter crossed her arms and smiled knowingly.
'' That message must have been very special ''
Nani looked down shyly.
'' Well it was from someone important ''
The reporters immediately reacted again.
'' Someone important! ''
'' Ohhhh ''
'' Now we are curious again! ''
Nani quickly waved his hands.
'' No more questions about that ''
He said, but his expression was still soft. Inside his mind he could still see the photo Sky had sent. Sky hugging the pillow while pouting at the camera and saying he missed him.
For a moment Nani almost forgot he was sitting in front of dozens of reporters and cameras. All he could think about was going back home, back to the place where Sky was waiting and back to the person who called him Phirun so sweetly.
Another reporter asked one last playful question.
'' So Nani if someone is waiting for you at home will you go back quickly after this? ''
Nani smiled. This time he didn't hide it.
'' Yes ''
He said simply. His answer made the reporters laugh and clap lightly, because even though he didn't directly say anythinghis soft smile already told them everything.
The press event finally came to an end after some time. After almost an hour of answering questions, smiling for cameras and trying to escape the teasing questions about his personal life Nani was finally free.
The moment the host announced that the press conference representing Lenskart had ended reporters slowly started packing their cameras and notebooks. Some of them still tried to ask Nani a few more questions, but the event staff politely guided him toward the exit.
Nani bowed politely to everyone before leaving.
'' Thank you for coming ''
He said with his usual gentle smile, but inside his mind was already somewhere else.
Home.
More specifically with Sky.
As soon as he stepped outside the building his manager started walking beside him.
'' You did great today ''
The manager said. Nani nodded politely, but his attention quickly moved to his phone again. There was another message from Sky.
'' Are you done yet? ''
And another one.
'' Phirun?? ''
The moment Nani read that message he smiled softly. Sky always called him that.
Phirun.
It sounded so sweet when Sky said it.
'' I'll head home now ''
Nani told his manager.
The manager looked a little surprised.
'' You're not going to the after event dinner? ''
Nani shook his head.
'' Not today ''
His manager immediately understood.
'' Ahhhh.... someone is waiting for you ''
Nani didn't say anything, but his small smile said enough.
A few minutes later Nani was already inside the car heading home. As the city lights passed outside the window his thoughts slowly drifted back to the very first time he met Sky.
It happened almost 7 months ago at a fan meeting.
It was a huge event where many fans had come to see him. The hall was filled with excited voices, banners and people holding gifts. Fans were lining up one by one to meet him, take pictures and ask for autographs.
Nani had already signed dozens of posters, albums and notebooks.
Even though he was tired he still kept smiling warmly at every fan, because he knew how much it meant to them.
One fan came forward with a big smile.
'' Hi Nani! I'm your big fan! ''
Nani smiled back and signed her album.
Another fan nervously handed him a small card.
'' Ca-can I have your autograph? ''
'' Of course ''
Nani said kindly.
Everything was going normally until suddenly something caught his attention.
Someone standing slightly behind the fan line.
A boy.
He wasn't even in the line. He was just standing there beside another person looking a little lost, but for some reason Nani couldn't look away.
The boy had soft black hair that gently fell over his forehead. His cheeks were slightly pink almost like cherries. His eyes were big and round giving him the look of a small puppy and his expression was innocent. Unlike the excited fans around him the boy looked calm and quiet almost like he didn't even realize where he was. He was just looking around curiously.
That boy was Sky.
Nani didn't even realize that he had stopped signing the autograph. His eyes were completely focused on Sky.
Sky noticed it.
At first he thought maybe the actor was looking at someone behind him so he turned his head slightly, but there was no one there. When he turned back again Nani was still looking at him. Sky blinked in confusion.
'' Why is he staring at me? ''
Sky whispered quietly.
The friend standing next to him suddenly realized what was happening. Sky's friend was the real fan. She had dragged Sky along to the fan meeting because she didn't want to come alone. Sky himself wasn't really a fan of actors or celebrities. He just came to keep his friend company, but now the famous actor in front of them was staring directly at Sky and not just staring, but looking completely distracted.
The friend panicked a little.
'' Oh my god! ''
She whispered.
Sky looked confused.
'' What? ''
'' He's looking at you! ''
Sky blinked again.
'' I noticed... ''
Nani was still staring. For some reason he couldn't stop looking at Sky's face. Those soft cheeks and those innocent puppy eyes... there was something very gentle about him and something that made Nani's heart beat slightly faster.
'' Nani? ''
A staff member called softly.
That finally broke his attention.
'' Oh.. sorry ''
Nani said quickly finishing the autograph in front of him, but his eyes still kept drifting back to Sky.
Sky felt even more awkward now.
'' Why is he still looking at me? ''
He whispered again.
His friend grabbed his arm suddenly.
'' Come with me! ''
Before Sky could even react she pulled him forward toward the table where Nani was sitting. Sky immediately panicked.
'' Wait! Why are we going there? ''
'' You're coming with me ''
She said quickly.
'' But I'm not even his fan! ''
'' It's okay!''
They finally reached the front of the table. The friend quickly bowed excitedly.
'' Hello Nani! I'm a big fan! ''
Nani smiled politely and nodded.
'' Hello ''
But his eyes quickly moved toward Sky again. Sky stood there awkwardly clearly not knowing what to do.
The friend spoke quickly.
'' This is my friend Sky! I brought him with me! ''
Sky looked even more embarrassed now.
'' Ummm hi ''
He said softly.
Nani looked at him carefully. Up close Sky looked even more adorable. His cheeks were naturally pink. His eyes were bright but shy. He looked like a small puppy that accidentally wandered into a crowded place.
'' You're not a fan? ''
Nani asked gently.
Sky scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
'' Not really.. I just came with her ''
His honesty made Nani laugh softly.
The friend immediately panicked again.
'' Bu-but he knows who you are! ''
Sky looked at her.
'' Of course I know who he is.. ''
Nani smiled again. For some reason he liked how honest Sky was.
He picked up a pen and asked softly,
'' Should I still give you an autograph? ''
Sky looked surprised.
'' Ummm sure.. ''
His unsure tone made Nani laugh again. As he signed the autograph he glanced up at Sky once more. Those soft cheeks and those innocent eyes... something about Sky had already caught his attention from the very first moment and Nani didn't know it yet.
Nani had met thousands of fans before, but no one had made him react like this.
After Sky's friend got the autograph they both stepped aside so the next fans could come forward. Sky politely nodded once to Nani before moving away.
'' Thank you ''
Sky said softly.
Nani nodded back with a small smile, but his eyes followed Sky as he walked away.
Sky was now standing beside the side wall while looking at his phone. He looked completely relaxed like someone who didn't even realize a famous actor had just been staring at him for several minutes.
Nani couldn't help but smile a little. Meanwhile Sky's friend was still very excited. She kept whispering quickly.
'' Did you see that! ''
Sky looked confused.
'' What? ''
'' He kept looking at you! ''
Sky sighed.
'' You're imagining things ''
'' I am not! ''
Sky just shook his head.
While they were talking Nani quietly looked around the table. There were many papers, posters and pens on the table. Among them was a small blank piece of paper. Without drawing attention he picked it up and grabbed a pen and then he quickly wrote something.
His handwriting was neat, but fast.
'' Please bring your friend tomorrow to the cafe across the street at 10 AM. I kind of like your cute friend 👉🏻👈🏻 ''
After writing it Nani folded the small paper carefully. His manager was standing nearby talking with staff and the fans were still coming forward. No one was really paying attention to him for a moment.
Nani looked toward the side of the hall again. Sky was still standing there with his friend. Sky looked calm, but the friend still looked excited.
Nani quietly signaled to the friend with a small gesture of his hand. She looked confused at first.
'' Me? ''
She whispered.
Nani nodded slightly.
Her eyes widened immediately. She quickly walked back toward the table. Sky looked confused again.
'' Where are you going? ''
'' I forgot something! ''
She said quickly and walked back to Nani trying to act normal.
'' Did you forget something? ''
Nani asked politely so the people around wouldn't suspect anything.
She nodded quickly.
'' Yes! ''
Nani gently slid the folded paper across the table toward her hand.
'' Please read this later ''
He said quietly.
Her eyes moved down to the paper. She carefully picked it up. For a moment she looked confused, but when she opened the paper and read the words inside her eyes suddenly became huge and her mouth opened in shock. She almost screamed.
'' Oh my- ''
But before any sound could escape her mouth Nani quickly raised his finger to his lips.
'' Shhhh ''
His voice was soft, but serious.
'' Please keep it private ''
The girl immediately covered her mouth with both hands. Her whole face was full of excitement. Her brain was screaming. A perfect BL pair is forming right in front of me!
She looked toward Sky who was still standing far away and had absolutely no idea what was happening and then she looked back at Nani.
'' R-really? ''
She whispered.
Nani scratched the back of his neck slightly.
'' Well I would like to meet him again ''
Her eyes sparkled like fireworks.
'' Oh my god! ''
But she quickly controlled herself again, because Nani was still looking at her seriously.
'' Please don’t tell him yet ''
Nani said softly.
She nodded quickly.
'' I promise ''
'' Just bring him tomorrow ''
'' Okay ''
She folded the paper carefully and hid it inside her bag like it was the most important treasure in the world and then she quickly walked back to Sky. Sky looked at her suspiciously.
'' You look weird ''
'' I always look like this ''
She replied quickly.
Sky crossed his arms.
'' What did you go back for? ''
'' Nothing ''
'' You definitely went back for something ''
She shook her head quickly.
'' Nope ''
Sky narrowed his eyes slightly, but didn't push further. Meanwhile across the hall Nani looked at them quietly. He watched Sky for a moment. Sky was now talking casually with his friend completely unaware of the secret plan that had just been made behind his back.
Nani smiled softly. For the first time in a long while he felt something exciting and nervous at the same time. He didn't know what would happen tomorrow, but he knew one thing that he definitely wanted to see Sky again and this time not just for a few seconds at a fan meeting.
Across the room Sky suddenly felt like someone was looking at him again. He looked up and once again his eyes met Nani's. Nani quickly looked away and pretended to sign another autograph. Sky tilted his head slightly.
'' That actor is strange ''
He muttered. His friend almost burst into laughter, but somehow managed to stay quiet.
'' If only you knew ''
She thought, because Sky had absolutely no idea that tomorrow his life was about to change in a way he never expected.
The next day started very normally for Sky. He woke up late in the morning, because he didn't have classes that day.
Being a university student meant some days were very busy and some days were relaxed. Today was one of the relaxed days.
Sky stretched lazily on his bed and rubbed his sleepy eyes. His phone was full of messages. Most of them were from his friend. The same friend who dragged him to the fan meeting yesterday. Sky sighed when he saw the messages.
'' Why is she texting so much this early in the morning? ''
He muttered.
He opened the messages.
'' Wake up! ''
'' Sky wake up! ''
'' We are going out today! ''
Sky frowned.
He quickly typed back.
'' No ''
A few seconds later she called him. Sky answered with a sleepy voice.
'' What? ''
'' Get ready. We're going to a cafe ''
Sky immediately shook his head even though she couldn't see him.
'' No ''
'' Why? ''
'' I want to sleep ''
'' You already slept enough! ''
'' I'm still tired ''
His friend groaned loudly.
'' Sky please ''
'' No ''
She tried another method.
'' I'll buy you dessert ''
Sky paused. He liked desserts, but he still said stubbornly,
'' Still no ''
'' Coffee? ''
'' No ''
'' I'll pay ''
Sky was silent again. She quickly continued.
'' And I'll buy your favorite cake ''
Sky sat up slowly on the bed.
'' Which cake? ''
'' The chocolate one you like ''
Sky thought for a moment and then he sighed.
'' You are very annoying ''
'' So you're coming? ''
'' Fine ''
His friend jumped happily on the other side of the call.
'' Yay!! ''
Sky rubbed his face tiredly.
'' But if it's boring I’m going home ''
'' Yes yes! ''
After some time Sky got ready and met his friend outside their university. They walked together toward the cafe which was not very far away.
Sky didn't know it yet, but this was the same cafe that Nani Hirunkit had written about in the small note yesterday.
The friend was secretly very excited. Inside her bag the folded chit from yesterday was still safely hidden.
She had barely slept last night, because she kept thinking about it. He said he likes my cute friend. Just remembering those words what Nani said made her want to scream again, but she had promised Nani to keep it private so she forced herself to act normal while walking with Sky. Sky looked relaxed as always.
'' Why are we even coming here? ''
Hasked.
'' To relax ''
She replied quickly.
'' We could relax at home ''
'' Going out is healthy ''
Sky looked suspicious.
'' You're acting strange ''
'' I'm always strange ''
Sky shrugged.
They finally arrived at the cafe. The place was quiet and comfortable. Soft music was playing in the background and a few people were sitting around drinking coffee.
Sky walked in first. He looked around casually. Meanwhile his friend quickly scanned the cafe carefully and then she saw him. Sitting at a table near the window wearing a simple cap and casual clothes, but even with the cap she recognized him immediately.
Nani Hirunkit.
Her heart almost exploded with excitement. He really came. She forced herself not to react.
'' Let's sit there ''
She said quickly pointing to a nearby table. Sky sat down.
'' Okay ''
He didn't notice anything unusual. Meanwhile across the cafe Nani had already seen them enter. His heart started beating faster. Sky looked just as cute as yesterday. He was wearing a simple white shirt and jeans. His hair looked a little messy again and his soft cheeks were slightly pink. Nani tried to calm himself down.
'' Okay just talk normally ''
Back at the table Sky was looking at the menu.
'' What do you want? ''
He asked his friend, but she suddenly stood up.
'' Oh wait! ''
Sky looked confused.
'' What? ''
'' I forgot something ''
'' What did you forget? ''
'' I need to get something ''
'' From where? ''
'' From outside ''
Sky frowned.
'' Now? "
" Yes! "
Before he could ask more questions she grabbed her bag quickly.
'' I'll be back! ''
And just like that she rushed out of the cafe
Sky blinked and looked toward the door.
'' What? ''
He sighed and leaned back in the chair.
'' That girl is strange today ''
He picked up his phone and started scrolling through it while waiting. He had no idea that someone was slowly walking toward him.
Nani took a deep breath and then he stood up and walked across the cafe. Each step made his heart beat faster.
When he reached the table Sky was still looking at his phone.
'' Excuse me ''
Sky looked up and froze. His eyes widened in surprise, because standing in front of him was the actor he had met yesterday.
Nani Hirunkit.
Sky blinked twice.
'' Ummm.... ''
For a moment he thought he was imagining things.
Nani smiled softly.
'' Can I sit here? ''
Sky looked around the cafe, clearly confused and then he nodded slowly.
'' Sure ''
Nani sat down in the chair across from him. For a few seconds neither of them spoke. Sky was still trying to understand what was happening and finally he asked.
'' Are you following me? ''
Nani almost choked on his own breath.
'' No! ''
Sky tilted his head.
'' Then why are you here? ''
Nani scratched the back of his neck nervously.
'' Well actually... ''
Sky suddenly remembered something.
'' My friend... she left ''
He looked toward the door.
Nani nodded slowly.
'' Yes, I noticed ''
Sky looked back at him suspiciously.
'' You noticed? ''
Nani realized he was getting himself into trouble.
'' I mean I just saw her leave ''
Sky leaned back in his chair.
'' You're acting strange ''
Nani laughed awkwardly.
'' I hear that a lot ''
Sky studied his face carefully and then he sighed.
'' Well since you’re here do you want coffee? ''
He pushed the menu slightly toward Nani.
Nani smiled again.
'' Yes ''
And just like that their very first real conversation began. For a few minutes both of them had been talking slowly while drinking their coffee.
Sky was still trying to understand how this famous actor had suddenly appeared in front of him again. Meanwhile Nani was trying very hard to act normal which was not easy, because every time he looked at Sky's face he felt strangely nervous.
Sky's cheeks were slightly pink again and his big puppy like eyes kept watching Nani carefully almost like he was trying to figure something out.
Sky took another sip of his coffee and then he suddenly asked
'' So why are you really here?. '
Nani almost froze.
'' Just coincidence ''
He said quickly.
Sky raised one eyebrow.
'' Coincidence? ''
'' Yes ''
'' You just randomly came to the same cafe where I am sitting? ''
Nani nodded.
'' Yes ''
Sky leaned forward slightly.
'' And you also randomly recognized me and sat at my table? ''
Nani quickly grabbed his coffee cup and drank from it to avoid answering.
'' Maybe ''
He said.
Sky stared at him for a few seconds and then he slowly shook his head.
'' I don't believe you ''
Nani almost choked on his coffee. He coughed suddenly.
'' Ahem- ''
Sky quickly pushed a napkin toward him.
'' Careful ''
Nani wiped his mouth and tried to act calm again.
'' I'm fine ''
Sky crossed his arms.
'' You're a very bad liar ''
Nani laughed nervously.
'' Am I? ''
'' Yes ''
Sky tilted his head slightly while studying Nani's face.
'' Something strange is definitely happening ''
Nani looked away toward the window.
'' I don't know what you mean ''
Sky sighed.
'' You're famous ''
'' Yes ''
'' You're busy ''
'' Yes ''
'' But somehow you’re sitting here with me ''
'' Yes ''
'' And my friend suddenly disappeared ''
Nani stayed quiet.
Sky leaned back in his chair again.
'' This situation is suspicious ''
Nani rubbed the back of his neck.
'' Well your coffee is good? ''
He tried to change the topic quickly.
Sky looked at the cup.
'' Yes ''
'' And the cake? ''
'' It's good too ''
'' That's nice ''
Sky stared at him again.
'' You're avoiding the question ''
Nani laughed softly.
'' Maybe ''
Sky sighed again, but decided not to push too much.
After a few more minutes of talking Nani slowly started thinking about something. He wanted to see Sky again, but if today ended here he might not get another chance so he gathered some courage.
'' Sky? ''
'' Yes? ''
'' Can I ask something? ''
Sky nodded.
'' Sure ''
Nani took a deep breath.
'' Can we exchange phone numbers? ''
The moment those words came out Sky blinked slowly and then he stared at Nani again for a long moment.
'' Why? ''
The simple question made Nani panic inside.
'' I-ummm, because... ''
His brain suddenly became empty.
Sky waited.
'' Yes? ''
Nani quickly said the first random thing that came to his mind.
'' In case you become my fan later ''
Sky stared at him silently and then he said flatly,
'' That's a terrible excuse ''
Nani almost choked again.
'' Really? ''
'' Yes ''
Sky took another sip of coffee.
'' You're famous. You don't need my number ''
'' Well... ''
'' And we just met yesterday and today ''
'' That's true ''
'' So why do you need my number? ''
Nani tried again.
'' Maybe we can be friends? ''
Sky looked even more suspicious now.
'' Actors randomly ask strangers to be friends? ''
Nani scratched his head again.
'' You ask too many questions ''
Sky smiled slightly.
'' And you give very strange answers ''
For a moment both of them stayed quiet and then Sky suddenly said something.
'' You want my number that badly? ''
Nani looked up.
'' Yes ''
Sky thought for a moment and then he slowly nodded.
'' Fine ''
Nani's eyes lit up.
'' Really? ''
'' But... ''
Nani leaned forward slightly.
'' But what? ''
Sky pointed toward the table.
'' You will pay the bill ''
Nani blinked.
'' The bill? ''
Sky nodded seriously.
'' Yes ''
He leaned back in his chair again and sighed dramatically.
'' My friend dragged me here and then she disappeared for some unknown reason ''
Nani tried not to smile.
Sky continued.
'' So now I'm stuck here ''
Nani nodded again.
'' And I don't know why she left me ''
Nani pretended to look confused.
'' That's strange ''
Sky sighed again.
'' So if you want my number... ''
He pointed toward the counter.
'' You pay for everything ''
Nani looked at the table. Two coffees and two cakes. It was not expensive, but he pretended to think seriously.
'' Hmmm... ''
Sky crossed his arms.
'' Deal or no deal? ''
Nani smiled.
'' Deal ''
Sky nodded once.
'' Good ''
Then he took his phone out of his pocket and placed it on the table.
'' Give me your phone ''
Nani quickly handed it to him. Sky typed his number into it carefully and then he gave the phone back.
'' Here ''
Nani looked at the screen. Sky's contact was saved. He felt strangely happy and then Sky stood up.
'' Let's go pay ''
Nani laughed softly.
'' You really care about that bill ''
Sky shrugged.
'' Of course ''
He looked toward the door where his friend had disappeared earlier.
'' She better explain later ''
Nani smiled quietly, because he knew exactly why she had disappeared.
Outside the cafe hidden behind a corner Sky's friend was still secretly watching through the window. When she saw Nani paying the bill and Sky standing beside him she almost screamed again.
'' They even look like a couple already ''
She whispered excitedly.
Back inside the cafe Sky looked at Nani again.
'' Thanks for the coffee ''
Nani smiled.
'' You're welcome ''
Sky turned to leave, but before walking away he said one more thing.
'' Don't call or text me too much ''
Nani raised an eyebrow.
'' Why? ''
Sky smiled slightly.
'' I'm still not your fan ''
Nani laughed.
'' That's okay ''
Because in his mind he was already thinking something else.
Maybe not a fan, but maybe something even more special one day.
