Chapter Text
It arrived on a starship, clamped & frozen in a diamond coffin, held in stasis inside of a massive abeyance chamber. A brief period of agonized indecision ensued. The powers that held sway over it could not agree whether it would be safer to land the starship directly at the destination, or move it to a specialized trans-atmospheric freighter.
As it had been successfully kept safe on the starship all this way, it seemed a safe bet to leave it there until final delivery. On the other hand, the starship was not well adapted to atmospheric flight, and reentry would carry an appreciable risk of accident – not to mention that if any enemies were laying in ambush that would be a golden opportunity to strike. On the third hand, moving it onto another vessel in orbit carried obvious vulnerabilities as well, but with the benefit that the critical moment would occur in orbit where any debris could easily be intercepted.
In the end, the decision was made to keep it where it was. Save some minor damage to the ship's systems, it was delivered without incident to it's destination. It was taken into the mountain and locked behind thick walls for such a time it could be put to use.
There it remained, sealed within the diamond sarcophagus, underneath the wheeling moons.
