Chapter Text
"Der, what are you doing?" Avery had been watching the other man repeatedly touch the door with his bare palm and getting more and more frustrate with it for the last minute. If he was honest the confusion on figuring out what Der was even trying to do took up most of that time.
Der slowly turned from the door to him "It's lagging" Ah, if Derek didn't look, so seriously annoyed Avery might have thought he was pulling his leg "the Door won't open!" stepping next to him Avery grabbed the door handle and pressed it down, pushing the door open.
The silence stretched between them "I just forgot how a door works…"
"You almost merged with a game, god, thing or whatever" patting his friend on the bag encouragingly "I think if anything being a little disoriented is normal"
"Avery I forgot how a door works!" Derek whined, it wasn't the first time Avery had to remind him how the real world worked "I forgot doorknobs existed..."
"And that's why you have me to remind you" He smiled, Derek had started to look much healthier, gaining weight and walking on his own again, it was nice to see.
