Precious Love

Chapter 16: chapter sixteen

Summary:

Playing with her hand, Vision glances down at her once the take out advert is gone, "Mh. Do you fancy it, then?" He asks softly, his voice somewhat nervous.

She hums, considering her options. "Mh. I suppose so."

Notes:

This is the last chapter. I do have one-shots and drabbles planned for sure, but nothing set in stone. This is part of a serious, though, so learn to expect more. Song choice (of course!): Precious Love – James Morrison.

Disclaimer: If people still do these, I own nothing but I wish I did. If people don't do these anymore, then at least I have been cautious. I always exercise caution.

Chapter Text

Wanda sighs as she toes off her high heels, kicking them by her wardrobe on the other side of the room. "Oh thank god." She breathes out in relief.

Luna watches her from her place by the door, her thumb in her mouth whilst her other hand holds her magpie toy close.

"Yes, kvetina?" Wanda smirks at the sight of her daughter standing there, a relatively new development – a late one, in fact – but one she adores.

Though Luna had been late in learning how to stand, she was early when it came to walking, having picked up that skill three weeks ago when crawling hadn't been quick enough. Vision had just come home from work, and she had walked, on wobbly legs, over to him.

Their daughter is stubborn. She does what she wants when she wants. She hadn't wanted to learn to stand, finding it too boring, until she had to. But when Vision was too far for her and only walking would do, she stood up and walked over to him.

She hasn't stopped since.

Vision keeps saying he's lost four pounds since Luna learned how to run around the house, making him chase her and always fail. He also says he doesn't mind, and Wanda knows that much is true.

"Mama." Luna walks up to her, her blanket trailing behind her, something Wanda knows Vision always worries she will fall over. "Home." She adds, reaching to be picked up.

Wanda complies, just as she always does, putting her daughter on her hip, "Mama is home." She confirms, kissing her nose. "Where is daddy? Did you run from daddy?" She asks, giggling when Luna nods. "Let's go find him before he worries."

Vision is easy to locate, stood in the living room looking around for Luna, "Ah!" He grins when they come into view. "Hide and seek...she ran." He explains, and Wanda laughs, placing Luna on the floor so she can run to her father, who immediately picks her up as he always does. "How was Natasha, my love?"

"Drunk." She responds with a shrug. She and Natasha make a point of having a 'boozy' lunch every three weeks at minimum, with Natasha needing the break from work and Wanda needing the time to be herself instead of mama every second of the day. "I wasn't in the mood after one so I switched to lemonade. How boring."

"Responsible was the word I would have chosen." He shrugs, looking at Luna. "What do you think, magpie? Responsible or boring mummy?"

Luna takes her thumb from her mouth, "Silly."

Ah yes, one of the many words Luna is learning day by day, Wanda thinks with a smile, shaking her head. That is five words and counting. Mama. Dada. Silly. Magpie. Home.

"See?" Vision smirks. "Luna thinks mama is silly...though I am not sure whether that proves my point of yours..."

"Mine." She rolls her eyes. "Obviously mine, Vizh." She walks up to him, realising she hasn't greeted him properly yet. She presses her lips to his, her hand moving to the hair at the nape of his neck to tug it gently. When she pulls away, she scrunches up her nose, "You need a haircut." She says, a sentence she has uttered a lot this week.

"Booked in for Monday, dear."

"Ah," She smiles. "You do listen." She realises, playing with his hair with a hum. "I do not want a boyfriend with a mullet growing. Short-haired Vision is much better."

"A fact you have not kept a secret." Vision comments, though his smile is still strong which tells her he is not truly annoyed in any way. "Also, my mother saw that photo of us at the park with Luna last week and she made it clear I was cutting my hair or she was sneaking in and shaving my whole head."

Wanda gasps dramatically, looking to Luna, "Silly nanny Pepper." She says to her, making Luna laugh into Vision's shoulder. She leans into his ear, whispering so their daughter cannot hear her, "If you didn't have your hair, what would I tug when you're inside me?"

She steps away when he blushes deep red and checks Luna didn't hear, which she didn't if the way she's half-asleep on her father is anything to go by, "How about we stay in tonight, watch some movies?" She suggests.

"Good plan, darling." He says once his cheeks have paled again. "I think it is the magpie's bedtime, anyway."

"Let me guess, stories and a sing-song before she's asleep?" She grins, and Vision nods, his eyes still on Luna. "Or maybe straight to bed. She's half-asleep."

"Yes, well, she wanted to wait up for mama, and I have no willpower so I allowed it." He admits, making Wanda laugh. "How about you find something on TV and I shall be back soon?"

"Good plan."

When he's gone, she makes a beeline for their bedroom to get into her sleeping clothes – one of his old shirts and a pair of pyjama shorts that used to be black but are now a dark grey. Once she's done, she finds an old sitcom she used to love on TV and switches it on whilst she waits.

Vision is by her side in no time, bringing in two cups of hot cocoa the way she likes it with cinnamon and marshmallows, and a blanket for warmth. His arm wraps around her shoulders and she settles against him easily as a new episode comes on.

"Has anyone ever told you, you have the softest brown eyes?" Gomez asks Morticia.

"No," Morticia answers. "Besides, my eyes are blue."

"No wonder nobody's ever told you!"

Wanda giggles against his side, her hand taking his on his knee and bringing it around her to hold her closer as they watch.

The episode soon ends, moving on to adverts that make them both groan. They laugh at a couple of cheesy ones before one comes on advertising the best wedding venues, and she feels Vision going tense beside her.

After, there is an advert for engagement rings, and he doesn't relax until that one is gone, changing to an advert for a well-known Chinese take out, one of which has a chain restaurant down the street from them.

Playing with her hand, Vision glances down at her once the take out advert is gone, "Mh. Do you fancy it, then?" He asks softly, his voice somewhat nervous.

She hums, considering her options. "Mh. I suppose so."

He pauses, his head tilting down to look at her properly as he takes in her answer, "Are you sure?" He asks, his eyes worried, and she can see how nervous he is in the way his body tenses up.

Thinking he was asking about getting a take out, she nods, shrugging her shoulders, "Sure. But nothing too heavy, I did drink earlier and too much food on an alcohol stomach is a no-no." She explains, and his body deflates. "Maybe some egg rolls and chicken fried rice?"

"I didn't mean the Chinese take out." He explains slowly.

"Oh," She blushes. "Did you want pizza instead? I would rather the Chinese, I have to be honest."

He stares at her for a long, long, moment, trying to will her to understand, "I was...I meant...The engagement advert. I was asking if you..." He stammers, trying to get his words out. "I was asking if you maybe, possibly, would want to...marry me?"

Her eyes widen in realisation, and a smile breaks out onto her face, "You want to marry me?" She asks, her chest feeling tight with emotions. "Wait...your words of proposing to me were going to be 'do you fancy it?'" She asks, scrunching up her nose.

Vision flushes, scratching the back of his neck nervously, "I have a ring...I was going to before but...The impulse took me and false confidence kicked in so I just asked."

"You have a ring?" She asks, blinking back tears. "This wasn't a spur of the moment thing? Y-You had plans..."

"Well, yes," He plays with his hands in his lap, looking at the floor to avoid her eyes, the feeling of rejection hitting him. "I apologise. I understand if-"

"Yes."

His head snaps up.

She grins.

A beat.

He blinks.

"W-What?" He asks, his voice filling with hope.

"Yes." She repeats, her smile taking over her face. "Yes, Vizh. My answer is yes. I'll marry you, yes." She says again, her tears beginning to fall.

Vision immediately cups her face carefully, bringing her in for a kiss that is probably far too wet from their tears, and their teeth knock against each other from their matching grins. "I love you." He whispers against her mouth before he pulls away. "Wait...I-I have your ring, I got a ring, hold on."

He stands rushing off, and she giggles when he runs back ten seconds later with a small velvet box in hand, "I am sorry, I was very cliché with it being in my sock drawer." He admits, making her smile only grow. "I would like to do this right, so," He moves onto one knee in front of her, making her heart feel ready to burst. "Let me do this."

She nods, fighting back more tears.

"Wanda Maximoff," He starts, his voice thick with emotion. "I have so many things I want to say, and none of them are working. So all I can do is speak for myself." He admits through a laugh. "I had a speech written down, so I apologise for doing this off-script."

"Go off script." She agrees, sniffling quietly.

"I love you, and I know that our relationship has always been fast, that we have always been certain about each other enough to know that going fast is the right option." He says. "You've given me everything, everything I could need, or want. Love, every day of my life, to wake up and know I love you and that you feel the same way...there is nothing that compares."

He continues, "Actually, no, yes, there is one thing, but it is along the same lines." He chuckles, rambling for a moment before he tries again. "You made me a father, the greatest gift in the world you could give me. And I love you both so, so much."

She sniffles, "We love you." She whispers, unable to stop herself.

"But I am selfish," He says, a fact she knows is not true but she remains silent. "And greedy. And so I would like to ask even more from you...for our future, for...marriage and more children one day, if that is what you desire, though Luna is enough if you don't." He quickly adds, making her laugh.

"And so..." He opens the ring box, making her gasp even if she knew what was in it.

A ruby sits proudly in the middle of the gold ring, surrounded by smaller diamonds. It is simple but elegant, and beautiful in every way.

Vision swallows thickly before continuing, "Wanda Maximoff, my darling, mother to our daughter, I would like to add one more title...of a wife. So, in a rather long-winded and rambling way, I am asking you if you would please, say yes and marry me?"

Wanda grins, nodding quickly, "Yes, Victor Stark, I will marry you." She says, bringing him in for a kiss that she's dragged onto his lap on the floor to enjoy. She giggles as she feels him slip the ring on her finger, her joy too big to contain.

He cups her face in his hands tenderly, his thumb brushing over her cheek, "Please never use my full name ever again." He begs through his smile.

She laughs, "Only on our wedding day." She promises, her lips finding his again.

They celebrate by kicking their bedroom door closed, making sure Luna won't be able to hear them when he has her beneath him, her legs wrapped around him as he makes her come again and again. He follows her after, panting against her when they come down from their highs.

When they calm, their foreheads pressed against each other's and their legs tangled together, she smiles, "I still want that Chinese take out." She admits quietly.

Vision laughs against her, "As you wish."

Notes:

Wow! Thank you so much for reading this if you have done. I wrote this entire thing in the space of about two weeks, which is very quick for me! Usually, I take a while to fully get into it and I go off and write other things. I can scarcely believe I have made it this far.

I have already written two drabbles and written an entire 20 chapter fic leading on from this SO there is a lot more where these two came from.

Thank you again!

All my love – Rach x

Notes:

I'm very nervous about this one. I hope it is well received, as I'm going to work hard on it. Please let me know your innermost thoughts.
