What is this event for?

This is four days of celebrating the Disastercule - that’s any 3+ of Ed, Jack, Anne, and Mary. We welcome any and all fanwork focused on the Our Flag Means Death characters Edward Teach, “Calico” Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny, and Mary Read - including art, fic, podfic, crafts, songs, cosplay, video edits, meta, or anything else you can dream of.

All sexuality and gender headcanons of characters are welcomed, with the exception of making queer characters straight, and trans characters cis.

Can I ship them with someone else?

The Disastercule includes any 3+ of Ed/Jack/Anne/Mary. You may include additional characters if you like, but because this is a Rare Ship event, the focus of the content should be on the relationships between members of the Disastercule, rather than another fandom pairing.

This event is inclusive of all relationship configurations and situations (including monogamy, polyamorous relationships, threesomes, foursomes, hook-ups, committed relationships, etc).

Can we include popular ships or characters?

Yes, although the Disastercule must be the focus and play a key role in whatever you create!

What if I want to create a work focusing on these characters in platonic ships?

Great! Platonic or romantic or otherwise, if it’s still focusing on at least three members of the Disastercule, then it’s very welcome! If you write something that’s platonic ships, we would encourage you to use appropriate tagging on AO3 (i.e. “Edward Teach & Mary Read”, which reflects a platonic ship, rather than “Edward Teach/Mary Read”, which reflects a romantic/sexual ship.)

Is there any content we are NOT allowed to include?

No underage NSFW content is permitted. No transphobic, ableist, racist, homophobic, or sexist content.mFor any content that is permitted but may require a warning - including NSFW, whump, etc - please use appropriate tags and warnings.

Can I create NSFW stuff?

Hell yes! While not required, you are welcome to use any of the prompts to create NSFW content if you so desire. Just tag accordingly!

What type of fan creations can we make?

Literally whatever you want. Fic, art, fanvids, edits, crafts, podfics, meta, cosplay, drag looks - go wild! We love any and all sorts of fan creations in this household!

On the use of Generative AI

This event strongly encourages the use of human creativity, and as such we do not allow any art, fics, or other creations that were made using generative AI. For example, fics written with ChatGPT, or art created using generative AI like Midjourney, are not allowed in this event. We encourage you to use your own creativity and skills to create for our event. There is no minimum skill level required - if you made it, we’d love to see it!

Can older work be shared?

Yes!! Please share older work! Use the hashtags #OFMDRareShips and #OFMDdisastercule whether you’re making new posts or reposting.
If the work belongs to someone else, please quote-repost the creator’s original post to ensure they are properly credited. If the work is on another platform, it may be best to reach out to the creator and ask them to post instead!

If you are recommending a fic, link to the fic and tag the author if possible.

Will there be a prompt generator?

Yes! It is located at https://perchance.org/ouvl5ybn9t (contains NSFW content) and will provide you with either a sexy or hijinks idea. Note that much like the Disastercule, there is a high risk of blood and injury! It’s not required to participate; it’s just a jumping off point for folks looking for ideas.

Where is the Disastercule Weekend on social media and what tags should we use?

The tags we’re using are #OFMDdisastercule and #OFMDRareShips. If you want your stuff (art, fic, fanvids, whatever!) shared on BlueSky or Tumblr by the OFMDRareShips accounts, please tag us (@OFMDRareShips on all platforms)! We will also repost tagged posts as we see them. We encourage you to use proper capitalization with the hashtag to keep it more accessible for screen readers! If we missed your post, please contact us.

Our social media presence will largely be on BlueSky, with the Tumblr account also active. We will not be posting on Twitter.

Please be aware that OFMDRareShips is an account that generally celebrates rarepairs and rare ships in OFMD fandom. At moderators’ discretion, we periodically repost other accounts, new and older works, and non-OFMDRareShips events that promote rare ships.
