NOTICE: I, Firefly_Aki, have added PearlBear as a Co-Owner. I will still be the only person to manage the collection. However, if I am out of contact for over a week, assume that I can no longer read fanfiction and Pearl is my successor. Thank you all.

This collection started as mainly SIs and OCs but there were so many fics that I wanted to share that had similarities between them so I, uh, use "insert" as an umbrella interpretation. This can mean a certain character has been 'inserted' into another series or the meshing of two or more series or time travel or dimension travel. This can also mean different interpretations of a certain character such as giving them a different backstory, different first meetings and the changes this makes to the storyline, or even simply making a different choice. In this case, the character(s) have been 'inserted' into new circumstances.

TL;DR my collection isn't limited to only SI/OCs anymore because I'm a glutton for fics and want to share it with everyone.

Only fics I have read are collected. If you have received an invite but are unsure of how your fic fits within the collection, don’t worry. I invited you with purpose.

Tips & Tricks
▪️sort bookmarks by 'Date Updated'
▪️selecting 'Random Items' on the top/side toolbar can be used to find new fics to read
▪️to find all bookmarked external works: 'Bookmarked Items' → 'Filters' → 'Other bookmarker's tags to include' → type in the tag "Originally Posted Elsewhere" → 'Sort and Filter'

Please be aware that I will never edit any works within this collection. I'm so sorry if anyone has had that happen to them.

Creators: if you decline an invitation, I will not be informed of it. I will no longer see the fic in the list of invites. If I come across your fic again and try to send an invite, AO3 will tell me you have declined. It is okay. I am not upset or angry. The choice is yours. I am perfectly happy to bookmark it instead.

Don't worry if you don't see your fic here; it just means that I haven't gotten to it yet, or maybe you should check your mail for the invite. ;)

After a certain amount of time has passed, I add all outstanding fics to the collection as bookmarks. The invite will still be viable, unless the creator has declined it.

Open to others contributing! I check the 'Awaiting Approval' box weekly. However, I prefer to read every entry before I add it to the collection, so please don't be discouraged if your submission doesn't make it into the collection just yet. Sometimes I need to make room for new interests in my brain and I don’t know when I’ll be ready.

Can I add a fic to the collection? How can I do that?

To add a work under Works: 'Add To Collections' (next to the 'Kudos' button at the bottom of the fic) → type "SIOC" into the search bar → select "A Collection of Beloved Inserts (SIOC_Insert_Collection)" → 'Add'

To add a work under Bookmarks: 'Bookmark' (button at top and bottom of fic) → you can add your own personalized/custom message in the 'Notes' textbox and your own 'Tags' → in the 'Add to collections' type "SIOC" into the search bar → select "A Collection of Beloved Inserts (SIOC_Insert_Collection)" → check-mark 'Rec' → 'Create'

What does (Open, Moderated) mean?

Open means that other users can add to the collection. Moderated means that only the collector(s) can accept the additions made by other users.

I submitted an invite or a bookmark but it has not showed up in the collection.

If the work was submitted to the correct collection then I have received it. I check the 'Awaiting Approval' box weekly. I personally read every entry to the collection before choosing to add it. If you have submitted a bookmark then once it is accepted, it is dated according to the date you originally created it. This means that it does not show up as the most recent bookmark (because the bookmark was made before the day it was accepted).

I want to decline the invitation. Will you be notified?

Do you edit any of the collected works? What do you do with the collected work?

I do not and will not edit any collected works. I will not anonify, unreveal/mystery, or restrict any work added. I send an invite, and if the creator accepts, then it is added to the collection in the Works section. That is all. I do not change the work in any way. I do not tell creators what they should change to fit into the collection either.

I declined the invitation before but changed my mind. Can I still have my work added to the collection?

I am not sure. Try to add the work yourself (seen above) and it might work. If it does not, then perhaps contact AO3.

I want to remove my work from the collection. What do I need to do?

I don't know for sure, but I think you should be able to remove the work that has been collected from your side. If not, I can remove it myself. If your work has been collected through bookmark then I will delete it if you want me to.
