It's easy for Quentin to figure out that he's bi. It's not quite as straightforward to figure out why, most of the time, he doesn't seem to want anyone at all anyway.
And even when he has a word for it, even when he knows there's nothing actually wrong, the trouble of only being able to want under specific circumstances means knowing what to do about a crush on one of your best friends is even more daunting. Especially when it's not going away this time, and much bigger problems just keep happening.
