FAQ:

How do I prompt?
First, you click on the sign up button, which will take you to the sign up form. From there, you can fill the fields and put the main body of your prompt in the description field. Alternatively, you can click on the prompt form on the left.

What is the Reference URL in the sign up form?
If your prompt is inspired by an artwork, a post or another fic, drop the link in this field, so potential authors can see it.

What kind of prompts are allowed?
Everything is allowed as long as you aren't breaking the rules. Yes, I mean everything.

What if I think it's wrong to write about certain subjects?
You are free to think so, but keep it to yourself. If you can't do it, then this kinkmeme isn't a good place for you.

Do I have to include kinks in the prompt?
No. Everything means everything. This kinkmeme is a home not only to the most hardcore kinks, but also to the fluffiest gen prompts and fills. The kinkmeme title is mostly for nostalgic reasons.

What is DNW?
DNW or Do Not Want means details you have no wish to see in the fill for your prompt. Authors are REQUIRED to respect DNWs. E.g. Finrod/Beren, D/s, Major Character Death, Blood, DNW: Happy ending, Evil Feanorians, A/B/O. In this case, the author cannot include happy ending, evil Feanorians and A/B/O in their fic.
You may also include Must Haves - things the author must write in the fic.

Are the prompts limited to the Silmarillion?
The kinkmeme also accepts prompts from the extended Legendarium, such as The History of Middle Earth, Unfinished Tales, Lays of Beleriand, etc.

Are the Hobbit and LOTR prompts allowed?
The kinkmeme is focused on mostly the Silmarillion and adjacent fandoms, but occasional LotR/Hobbit prompt is allowed as long as they don't outnumber Silm prompts.

Are crossovers with Tolkien's other works, including the Hobbit and LOTR, allowed?
Yes, as long as they feature at least one Silmarillion character in a prominent role.

Are crossovers with other fandoms allowed?
Yes, as long as they feature at least one Silmarillion character in a prominent role.

Are prompts from the Rings of Power allowed?
Yes, they are allowed.

Are artwork fills allowed?
Yes, they are absolutely allowed.

Are the prompts anonymous?
If you keep the checkmark in the semi-anonymous prompt box in the sign up form, your prompt will be anonymous.

What if I don't want to prompt anonymously?
You don't have to. Just uncheck the semi-anonymous prompt box in the sign up form.

What if I don't want my username to appear in the sign up list?
In this case, you can post in the Dreamwidth kinkmeme indicating in the SUBJECT LINE that you want the mod to crosspost it to Ao3 and/or send the prompt as an ask or a submission through my tumblr page. Or you can make a new Ao3 account and use it only for prompts and fics you don't want to be associated with your main.

How many prompts can I submit?
Ao3 limits the number of prompts per one collection to 50. So, 50.

How do I know when someone fills my prompt?
Ao3 will send you an email to the address associated with your account.

Can I crosspost my prompts on dreamwidth?
Absolutely!

Can I post a prompt to a closed collection?
No. Please go to the new one.

Can I repost a prompt from a closed collection to the new one?
Yes, you can.

How do I fill a prompt?
You click on claim and when the fic is ready to post, you click fulfill and post the fic as usual.

Do I have to fill the prompt if I have claimed it?
No, it lets the prompter know that you are interested in their prompt and may fill it, but it doesn't mean you are obligated to do it.

Are multiple claims and fills for the same prompt allowed?
Not only they are allowed but also encouraged. Go wild.

Can I combine two or more prompts?
As long as you meet the requirements of all the prompts, it is allowed.

Can I fill my own prompt?
Of course! Go ahead! You may even post a prompt with the purpose of filling it yourself.

Can I post a previously published fic to the collection as a fill for a prompt?
Yes as long as the fic truly fits the prompt.

Can the kinkmeme prompts be combined with other challenges?
As long as the other challenge rules allow it, the prompts can be combined.

Are the fills anonymous?
No, they are semi-anonymous. It means that Ao3 mods and myself can see your username when you post a fic. But I promise not to tell and not to judge.

What if I want to fill the prompt completely anonymously?
You can send the fill as a submission through my tumblr page. I will post it on Ao3 on your behalf. Or you can make a new Ao3 account and use it only for fics you don't want to be associated with your main.

Do I have to post anonymously?
Your fills will be anonymous by default, but if you want to de-anon, put the request IN THE TAGS of your fic and/or send me an ask on tumblr with the link of your fic and I will de-anon you manually.

Can I claim and fill a prompt in a closed collection?
Yes, you are welcome to do so.

Can I post my fic on other platforms?
Yes, but post it on Ao3 too.

Are you on other platforms?
Yes, the kinkmeme has a tumblr page and a dreamwidth page.

Will you reblog the fics on tumblr?
Yes. If you post your fics or a link to your fic on tumblr and want me to reblog it, tag it as silmkinkmeme and/or mention @silmkinkmeme.

This collection is unmoderated. What does it mean?
It means I don't have to approve every single fic, so it can appear in the collection. But I can still delete fics and prompts if they break the rules and I can de-anon you if you request it.

Do not kinkshame
You see a prompt or a fic that makes you upset or angry? It's fine, happens to everyone. Scroll past it, read something else, take a break. Under no circumstances, leave a rude comment.

No bigotry
This kinkmeme is inclusive and does not tolerate hate of any kind. No racism, queerphobia, ableism, etc.

Don't be a dick
If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Criticism is allowed only with the explicit permission of the author.

Respect prompter's DNW
If the prompter puts something under their DNW, authors have to respect it and leave it out of their fill.

Respect author's work
Even if you don't like the fic the author has written for your prompt, be respectful about it.
