One thing I haven’t seen handled as much in these kind of stories is that emotional side of hearing that someone hurt your kid, where it *has* to be about the kid, because they were the one who was hurt, but it’s just a complete emotional gut punch for you too. I’m coming to this fandom with the perspective of someone who has done the “adopt a traumatized teenager” thing, so while details are obviously quite different, I have been on that side of a trauma reveal.
