This was a punch to the gut and I mean that in the best way possible - it's a masterfully executed thing all based on one simple what-if - and what a way to change the world that was. It hurt to see Charles cut off completely from his abilities, but it was AMAZING to run into Piotr and to hear him talk about Illyana - and it was amazing to see what changes were wrought in every one of the characters: Moira and Armando and Hank and Angel all at the school and on the same side, and Erik's seismic shift in terms of his psyche and priorities, and the way the team pulled together, and the definite way you've rounded out Emma and Shaw and Azazel. I love the brilliance of the denouement - how they all made their choices, how Charles and Erik made their final choices over Shaw's husk, and then of course how beautifully you've delineated everything about their relationship: a relationship that supports, that pulls together instead of forcing apart.
And the art! I have no words for the expressions, for the gestures, the delicacy and poignancy of the captured moment.
You guys make a hell of a tandem. This was amazing. Thank you so very much.

(And oh, man, I have all this backstory in my head about Moira and Armando training the X-Men together that never fit into the fic, my biggest regret is not getting to show more of them.)
