So you have basically written an alternate movie here. I mean, any fanfic is in some sense an alternate movie, but this really feels like, not just an alternate version of events but a new movie branching off from the old one... I don't know if that even makes sense but I love it, not least because things, on the whole, turn out SO MUCH BETTER. (I feel bad about Levene and the other soldiers, but if Man in Black and Darwin were spared in return, I can deal with that.) I miss seeing Charles and Erik teach the kids, but I guess that can happen after the credits? It's a small enough trade for Charles and Erik's relationship -- Erik just about brought me to tears here, he is such a complete goner for Charles, I do not even know how to handle it. And then Piotr -- Piotr as the source of the alloy is just perfect and brilliant, I mean, it explains everything, and Shaw using the same "count to three" trick on him... I just love everything about this story, okay? I'm so glad you're the one that got this art. Like everything of Bril's, it's so gorgeous and evocative and I'm just so happy it was snapped up by someone who could do it justice.
