Man, I am usually not into reverse batfamilynat all because usually it just ends up being the same batfam tropes with some minor changes in physical appearance, but you definitely brought it a step up! I love how you were able to incorporate each batboy's personalities here in a way that was adjusted to fit their new situations. So things like Damian and Tim's relationship, and Jason And Tim's previous hostility towards each other still have the same weight to them but in a new light. It's really great!! The most interesting thing here is how you wrote Tim. In other reverse batfam fics, it's still normal ol' red robin, except now he wears a red hood LMAO but here I love how you MADE him the red hood in a way that's faithful to both Tim and what the red hood represents. Great stuff!!!!!
See, to me, even thinking of Damian as the first Robin pretty changes everything about the tone of Robin. Instead of increasing angst with each iteration, it winds up with more and more light. I did wind up following a lot of the same patterns, but the reasoning behind things shifts. Damian would wind up doing a stint with the league of assassins when outgrowing Robin. He'd hate Robin!Tim because if Tim could be Batman's sidekick, that meant his terrible childhood was not worth it. But slightly broken Red Hood Tim? Damian gets that. And Tim has Machiavellian tendencies to start with, if the pit removes a certain amount of empathy, he'd be seriously scary. In my head he never bothers with the batman confrontation like Jason did, because for Tim it's a middle finger to do it all completely under the radar. Jason, with a bio-kid as the only other one around, winds up calling Bruce Dad. When he sees how effective the Red Hood is though he still winds up playing too rough to stay Robin. And then Dick. Dick doesn't have to be the leader. He doesn't have to constantly be filling holes of communications.
I kind of love the idea of reverse batfam, can you tell. =)
Poor Damian with the costumes in this verse. It's just a deeper and deeper facepalm. Because Damian is very much in a serious assassins' getup and then Tim's like... but maybe I have wings. Jason goes in the opposite direction and just wears a red hoodie, which is bad enough until he gets to Dick Damian gets more and more distressed with every iteration removed and it's beautiful.
