ahaha I'm always a little surprised that the goofy ace!Batfam fics spawned a universe, but I'm glad you found his one. This AU is a fascinating thought experiment and weirdly, I think it makes just as much sense as canon does in the end. Tim and Damian especially are fun to play with because of how, while motivations change, the antagonism definitely doesn't.
Steph winds up being their medical support instead of Oracle. In my head she goes back to being called Spoiler. She was very much musical costumes in this universe (started as Spoiler, spent a hot second as Robin and then settled on Batgirl before being shot). I haven't thought far enough out to figure out how Barbara would fit in, but she's a couple years younger than Dick so it'd be a very interesting dynamic. And I'm still in the weird place where I've read basically nothing with Cass in it. Fandom makes her seem awesome, but I feel weird writing a character I've never seen in the source material (which means I should probably track down some reading.)
I left who actually killed Joker intentionally vague for the sake of John's (and Tim's in the last fic) point of view. Damian's definitely the mastermind of it, but he subcontracted the deed out to a League of Assassins contact for the extra layer of security. Because there's a whole host of new problems if anyone gets wind Nightwing ordered a hit on somoene.
