This is a very very belated comment on a very haunting story. I came back to this story after having read (and bookmarked) it at the original Yuletide posting, and one question keeps nagging at me.
Which is: How do you envision the original situation having arisen? You say the photographs had been Charles' idea (his kink?), and I infer that all three of them were in them, though Charles couldn't be identified. Bunter would have done the developing. So how did they become public? I hate to think of any of the three being so careless, given that they had to be aware of the possible consequences.
This is a very belated response, sorry! Thanks for your comment. I have to admit that I have no idea how the situation arose :-) Well, the sex part, anyway. I was inspired to write the fic by Flouish's Yuletide fic "There Weren't No Witnesses" - specifically the title, and thinking "what if there were witnesses?" and this provided a way that witnesses might become public. I think perhaps the answer to the question of how it became pubic has to involve Nefarious Deeds, perhaps a burglar breaking into to the flat and stealing the negatives because he thought they were something else, and then taking revenge by making them public (possibly even the burglary is committed very soon afterwards while the three of them dash out on a case, so there is no time to take precautions?). It's a bit melodramatic, but then the whole thing is really, and as you say one wouldn't want to think of any one of the three of them being careless.
