Comment on "Suffer Little Children...Come Unto Me"

  1. Another excellent chapter! I loved the interaction between Pym and Gawain, so natural and realistic. The thinking about the actions of the Weeping Monk was well done and logical, the way they realise that it has been years since children unable to save themselves have regularly been found living far from the ruins of their villages and orphans is really good.
I also loved the fact that Pym learned of Gawain's presence on the day of the massacre in their village and his guilt for not being able to save them is really touching.
The reference to Gawain's resurrection after 3 days is just 😘 Gawain, the Christ Fay... great ❤

"Great Defender of the Fey and valiant rescuer of damsels in distress and kittens caught up trees" 🤣❤

All this to say: I love your history, your descriptions, your precision of places and the concordance with historical events, it's incredibly well constructed.
I can't wait to see how Gawain will react to Lancelot dying in front of the tent!!

    1. Thank you! 💓

I loved writing Pym & Gawain interacting, because she would have grown up with him just as much as Nimue did until he left, but we only really get to see Nimue's childhood memories of him in the book...and the book made childhood-Gawain out as an absolute sweety so I really wanted to explore that through Pym's eyes too 😊

And with Carden taking about how the Green Knight "likes to hide up trees & shoot arrows at my men" & Josse's band of survivors not having had bows when the found Squirrel & the Monk, I legit think that - in the show at least - what Gawain describes above is what was being subtly (too subtly) implied.

Similar with the Moon Wing child that gets carried into Dewdenn. We know later on in the show that he spares the little ones when he can, but she couldn't walk so how did she get out of her burned village & close enough to Dewdenn to be found, unless he carried her out (probably while she was passed out from the smoke or from falling from the trees)?

Which is a possibility that never would have crossed his mind if it weren't for the conversation in Salt's Kitchen, but again the childhood memory in the book via Nimue characterizes Gawain as a lot smarter than he looks or acts on the surface, so I wanted to be able to show him reasoning through at least reexamining his previous assumptions, with Pym's help of course 😁 Because she really is generally the smartest person in the room even though she doesn't realize it 😉

"Great Defender of the Fey and valiant rescuer of damsels in distress and kittens caught up trees"

Isn't that so totally him? 😂 I mean, he is the Maidens' Knight, after all? 😜
