    I have just started and I'm really enjoying your writing and imagination so far!!!!
    Question: why do they need to practice mastering fiendfyre ?
    Can't they just use the sword of Gryffindor to destroy the Horcrux instead of Fiendfyre?
    I really appreciate an answer!!!!!!

      The reason they couldn’t use the sword was because Hermione did not bring it with her to the past. Only after the events of Chamber of Secrets did the sword work against horcruxes (it was the venom in the sword and not the sword itself).

      So basically their options in the past were basilisk or fiendfyre…
