    Strongly believe that Ryuu would keep a flower given to him until it completely dries up haha

    And well, I tried to make Iris' demeanor change very subtle - she didn't want to hurt Barok's feelings by speaking up on the matter, but also the mention of Ryuu would also make her deeply sad. But such is the role of Iris that when she's sad, so is the rest of the main cast... a heavy burden to carry for someone so tiny

    I went with Sweet Peas exactly for their multi-meaning; Barok is filled with eternal gratitude to Ryuu, visiting him even at his grave so often... in the fic, he apologizes for the flowers though - he does not want to say goodbye yet, but this secondary meaning the flowers bring is inevitable. So the bouquet is both a wonderful gift of affection, but also a cruel reminder to Barok, that he got enough confidence to give Ryuu flowers too late, and now he will have to let him go eventually.
