Ugh, I just want to hug kid!Scott and lock him away safely. You did a great job with touching on such a sensitive subject. I love that Steve is the first person Scott can open up about this. It will do the relationship very good.

They have a lot of potential between them even with the pitfalls they are facing on the outside of who they are together. Scott endured a lot of trauma that closed him off and shut him down in a lot of ways, but being able to share his pain and the truth about his younger years with Steve speaks volumes about how comfortable he feels with Steve wanting to share something so personal and private with someone he cares so deeply about. There's certainly a trust building between them in all of this.
Tony is just...Tony and can't help that he's causing them drama even if he doesn't realize that he's doing it. He's just so unapologetically him with his friend at a time when it really isn't convenient for Steve to be helping Tony sort through his issues. Steve considers Tony one of his best friends so he's trying to be a good friend even when the timing really isn't what it should be.
Yeah Scott overhearing things was not a positive thing for them as Scott's still reeling from knowing the last time he tried to embrace the idea of romance he got closed out by Warren who had offered so much more than he could and seeing Tony, who Scott I think on some level hates to admit admires and respects, yet wholly dislikes in so many ways so close to Steve it triggered something that Scott wasn't prepared to deal with when it came out of nowhere. The thing with Steve is he's totally made a lot of mistakes in his life and some he feels he might be repeating as he tries to sort through what being around Scott does for him. There's this push and pull between them where they are both deeply invested in one another yet struggling to figure out how that works between them in getting closer to experiencing what they want in each other. Hopefully they find a way to sort it out between them given the ways they've been drawn to one another in all of this.
