Comment on Inspiration: The Muse

  1. Holy crap that was fucking hot! That definitely escalated quickly for them (and honestly, it's about time)! It's certainly not the be all end all of working out their issues with each other, but maybe, just maybe this will allow them to both open up more to each other in the areas that they desperately need to. (And holy fuck but Scott and Tony need to iron out their differences, which are probably mostly on Scott's side since he's young and hasn't learned how to deal with Tony's arrogant quippy side yet.)

That's definitely an interesting development with Steve and the serum they pumped into him - that it takes him longer to get off through penetrative sex but not others. It makes you wonder if that's why Steve is so obsessed with the D/s side of things because psychologically he needs that in order to get off - or has needed it to get off in the past with other lovers. Perhaps Scott will find his own strategic ways to work his sex magic on Steve where Steve will lose himself faster to his own pleasure than he's been used to in his past.

This is very very sexy and a much better conclusion to their morning than it started out after Tony interrupted things. I don't even think that Tony is as dark as Steve was hinting at - I think that Tony could've gone more in that direction than Steve, but Tony's paid so many prices for his hedonism that that's probably part of the reason why Tony feels so meh about the same old same old. He's tired of the consequences, and he's tired of what it takes to get him to the consequences, but he doesn't know how to find anything different. Whereas Steve is stuck with people viewing him as some sort of naive virgin and wouldn't be able to handle him being a kinky sex-fiend, the same people refuse to accept Tony as anything but a kinky sex-fiend addict, so they're both trapped behind these perceptions of other people. Scott will break down Steve's worries about his reputation, and Bucky will break down Tony's boredom with his reputation. They just have to get there past all the layers of unhealthy behavior patterns and do it without Steve and Tony freaking out on them.

Ultimately I am so, so, so relieved for the both of them that they threw Steve's playbook out the window and just got it out of their systems. Now they can circle back around and actually deal with their pasts, with their traumas, and with their broken perceptions of themselves. Now they can move forward.

    1. Absolutely they went from zero to boom explosion right away but yeah they needed that so they could both step outside of their heads a bit and recenter to regroup on what's happening with them. It was a huge thing to open the door to more communication with them for sure and yeah Scott needs to realize Tony's not the enemy or the competition. He's not Warren and he's not looking to snatch Steve up from Scott and leave him heartbroken. I think there's this part of Scott that's so inherently tied in knots about trying to sort out Tony that it clouds some of his perception. I don't think Tony thinks anything negative about Scott but just takes to teasing him where as Scott on some level wants Tony to respect/like him even if he's insistent upon the fact that he 'doesn't like' Tony. It needs to sort itself out for sure.

When that situation with Steve and the serum side effects happened I thought to myself "Well that's never happened to me before" with writing but I let him run with it and it absolutely opens the door to some of Steve's sexual interests and why he's inclined towards certain aspects of exploring his sexual appetites in the way that he does. It could've been a situation that with the wrong person could've ended badly, but that was one of those moments where the two actually did step up in the communication department, where sex opened the door to the honesty about the situation and in a way brought them closer to one another in exploring how they could make the experience even better for both of them. Steve being honest with Scott about that absolutely gave Scott some insight that maybe he wasn't considering before and in the long run I think it's good for them.

No Tony's not as dark as Steve hints at even if Tony's done some wild things. I think Steve sees himself as having this 'dark' side because of the pressures that being Captain America has put on him in forcing him to maintain that persona that you mentioned where he knows the world would be shocked and scandalized by the idea of him having and liking sex. Mix that with the era he's from and the guilt associated with not only liking sex but sex with other men and I'm sure that there's something to be said within that as well in Steve sorting out how to feel about himself and what he and Tony have been doing together as friends and exploring their passions in who they are. They've both been slapped with labels about who they should be and finding the freedom to just be who they are has been increasingly difficult and a lot of that is really part of what comes into play. Scott's good for Steve in a lot of ways and vice versa. I think together they can both grow and learn along the way.

Yeah Steve's big 'romantic' plans were unrealistic and almost building to be too much pressure to make the moment 'perfect' where as it just was and now that they've realized that it's something they can explore together and enjoy without all the heightened anticipation/expectations they can start working towards something deeper and more intimate with one another in ways they both can appreciate!

      Thanks again for reading!
