Comment on Withered Reincarnation: The Journey of Lotus

  1. I will admit the first few chapters are chaotic, and sometimes there are moments where one thing happens and then something else happens that makes the previous thing look irrelevant, but later down the line you’ll see that things happened for a reason or to set something up for later. As for his talking situation it’s explained in ch5, but to sum things up, Lotus only talks to them for these reasons:

    1) He loves Roxy, 2)He’s interested in Lilia 3) He views Zenith as a mom, something he feels he’s never had, and he’s desperate to never lose, 4) He genuinely wants a good relationship with Rudeus, 5) Rosie is the one person who knows about Lotus’s affinity for flesh. He sees her as the only person he can actually vent to, which will be seen later.

If you were to just drop him in a random place with this people you wouldn’t hear a single thing from him. It’s not the action of talking, but more of who he’s talking to. He wouldn’t talk to random strangers either, even if he were completely lost and didn’t know the way home. The only way he’d talk to someone is if he expresses some form of feelings for them, is someone he’s close to, or it’s to keep his family safe.

As for his morals it’s a more extreme version of “Don’t fuck with me and I won’t fuck with you” sort of thing. Because of what happened with the gods and Godkin, as well as the flashback of the leviathan hunters in ch5 he’s taken the previous statement as well as a “ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves” moral code.

He’s strong, but he’s also prideful. Sometimes too much for his own good. And as you’ll see at the beginning of ch6 once it comes out, he struggles greatly once the power he has is limited, and he will try a menagerie of things to “break the system” so to speak, to hold onto that power. It’s his crutch, and he holds comfort in it that so long as he’s powerful another Godkin incident won’t happen again.

He doesn’t show it much, but he’s terrified of losing the people he cares about. The only real time we saw this was how his quick flash over of a crying Arthur over a crying Sylphie not only got him to talk, but to make him pissed enough to both stop smiling, and threaten to kill a bunch of kids. If he feels that those he cares about are in danger he will cast morals aside and do everything in his power to keep them safe.

I know it’s a lot, but I feel like it’s all important to know as well.
