Comment on Pride, prejudice and duels

  1. Btw. I wish there was an option to tag ships (and characters) as primary/secondary. Let's say I'm really in the mood for Suyin/Baatar fic and I'm not in a mood for Makorra where Su/Baatar are only once mentioned. - So true! I once searched for Korvira fics, and there was one where Korra\Kuvira was the first in the relationship, BUT turned out there was ONE, a whopping ONE mention of past Korvira, and it was in like 41 chapter out of 43 or so... And there wasn't "Past Korra\Kuvira" tag even. Just why???

Or I'd like an Ikki-focused fic where she discovers her powers as the Dark Avatar and don't want to scroll through those in which she has a secondary role... - That would've been an interesting story to read)

Though Kuvira the Great Clam Jammer doesn't have the same ring to it. - True. Kuvira the great dick(tator) is still the best imo xD

Have you played it! - I've played the demo around a year or so ago. Loved it! Funnily enough thanks to this chapter I've bought it today, because I decided to look it up on Steam, and it had a 50% discount(still has, but less than 8 hours left as of now).

yup, though she's trying to go for non-lethal attacks. - Just to clarify, do you know about "end him rightly"?

I really want some Korpalsami but just can't find the way to do it. - One day you'll get there!

mmmaaaaaaybe the Dragon Age fic? - Speaking of Dragon Age, like 90% of reviews of Veilguard are 10\10(because of course they are, if the supposed info about studio giving pre-release versions only to those who were full positive are true), but then there's a select few not so positive. I've checked the SkillUp review:
    https://youtu.be/QF-Kd2BBpx8

And now I can 100% say that it will never be up my alley... I know that NONE of the writers who worked on KOTOR, DA Origins and Mass Effect are in the studio, since all of them left few years ago, but still kinda sad that Bioware fallen THAT low(((

But Korra there is so broken that she won't be getting into relationships (And especially threesomes) soon... - Oh right, you still torture Korra in all of your "not one shot" fics(with the exception of FoL, according to you).
What's the premise of the Dragon Age fic btw? Will it be adventure, or torture porn, or a healing journey? Or a little bit of all of them?)

Why can't I make all my chapters/fics fluffy? - Good question, I suggest looking within yourself and confront your angsty writer self, maybe then your fluffy writer self will reveal itself!

    1. Just why??? - that's why I try not to confuse by putting very background relationships in the tags, like for example I could tag CnC as "Pema/Tenzin" but that wouldn't really be that helpful.

That would've been an interesting story to read) - it is!

Kuvira the great dick(tator) is still the best imo xD - oh yes :D

And just reading about it makes me regret I didn't write this fic more light-hearted. Buuuuut while it was supposed to be a one-off, I'm considering doing a much more fluffy and lighthearted sequel.

Just to clarify, do you know about "end him rightly"? - I think I've heard of it but not sure. Isn't it related to half-swording?

One day you'll get there! - one day!

Yes! I found the Skill Up review but managed to watch only 20min before I needed to go to bed yesterday (tiring day), I hope to finish it today.

And now I can 100% say that it will never be up my alley... I know that NONE of the writers who worked on KOTOR, DA Origins and Mass Effect are in the studio, since all of them left few years ago, but still kinda sad that Bioware fallen THAT low((( - it is :(

What's the premise of the Dragon Age fic btw? Will it be adventure, or torture porn, or a healing journey? Or a little bit of all of them?) - oh, torture porn, for sure. Nah, not really. All three. Korra is a Saarebas who gets fed up of her treatment and defects to Tevinter!Asami. Asami is a "good Tevinter" trying to reform the Empire from inside but her family harbours a dark secret. Also Unalaq is the Black Divine (or Archon, haven't decided).

Good question, I suggest looking within yourself and confront your angsty writer self, maybe then your fluffy writer self will reveal itself! - my evil doppelganger?

EDIT: Also, FoL is not only according to me a fluffy story, this is what Always_Korrasami wrote in the comment to the last chapter "It’s the only less drama Korrasami you have and I need that in my life! ;)" :D

      1. that's why I try not to confuse by putting very background relationships in the tags, like for example I could tag CnC as "Pema/Tenzin" but that wouldn't really be that helpful. - That's a logical decision, props for that!

And just reading about it makes me regret I didn't write this fic more light-hearted. - You can write yet another Korrasami(on top of your big load of them), or rewrite this one, or do "light hearted version" of this one. I'm not sure you'll do any of that though, you already have too much on your hand\mind\drive. So you'll probably have to live knowing you might've written a fluffy swashbuckling Korrasami, but you wrote angsty one instead xD

I'm considering doing a much more fluffy and lighthearted sequel. - Hopefully it won't go sideways like this one did ;)

I think I've heard of it but not sure. Isn't it related to half-swording? - Oh boy, you're in for a ride. It's a technique(which might as well be a meme) that is a "throw your pommel at the opponent". And here's a few videos about it:

https://youtu.be/jETLCm7k3sU a short video dedicated to the said "technique". I love the comments under it, especially the wordplay ones, they're still hillarious after so many years)))

https://youtu.be/9d2fwin7Mlc an implementation of said technique in Mordhau(don't mind that youtube thinks it's Dark Souls LMAO)

Yes! I found the Skill Up review but managed to watch only 20min before I needed to go to bed yesterday (tiring day) - That's rough, buddy.

Also another good reveiw by MrMattyPlays: https://youtu.be/i3h7pO6xLAM
If you'll want to see more reviews of course, not forcing you to watch it

It's actually impressive that industry is so scared of offending ANYONE, that most of the stuff they produce are the most boring sterile stories with "moustache twirling" type of antagonists...
Not to mention removing the "RP" from "RPG"
I'm not sure if Veilguard have any chance of failing as hard as Anthem or Concord did, but if it fails I'm sure they'll resort to Ubisoft's "Players these day have their expectations way too high".
Imagine expecting the quality you were promised or the quality on the level of previous games of the studio! The audacity!!!

Asami is a "good Tevinter" trying to reform the Empire from inside but her family harbours a dark secret. - Her being "good" isntead of good, is worrying me...

Also Unalaq is the Black Divine (or Archon, haven't decided). - It's not saying anything to me, since I'm not so good in DA lore, but thanks for the info)

my evil doppelganger? - Or maybe your good one instead)

EDIT: Also, FoL is not only according to me a fluffy story, this is what Always_Korrasami wrote in the comment to the last chapter "It’s the only less drama Korrasami you have and I need that in my life! ;)" :D - Sounds good! But then again you also said that it'll be multi-part story, so it all can change. Maybe you'll come up with more dramatic final, and do some not-so-fluffy-things...

And here's a few videos about it: - I'll check these out in the evening, as well as the second review. I always welcome DAV review vids!

It's actually impressive that industry is so scared of offending ANYONE, that most of the stuff they produce are the most boring sterile stories with "moustache twirling" type of antagonists... - I mean the inter-party conflict from Jack/Miranda trying to kill each other in ME 2 to "just talk a bit about your interests and you'll get on well!" and yes, the author is right that the dialogue there sounds as if it was for kids.

It's actually impressive that industry is so scared of offending ANYONE, that most of the stuff they produce are the most boring sterile stories with "moustache twirling" type of antagonists... - to be completely fair DA:O and DA:I also had the main antagonistis (Archdemon/Corypheus) pretty one-dimensional but other characters were interesting and had a lot of depth. And yes, as someone in the comments said: In DA:O you could sacrifice an entire Elven Clan for power. In DA:V you can't even call anyone an idiot.

Imagine expecting the quality you were promised or the quality on the level of previous games of the studio! The audacity!!! - audacity!

Her being "good" isntead of good, is worrying me... - nah, she's really good ;)

It's not saying anything to me, since I'm not so good in DA lore, but thanks for the info) - sorry, with all our conversations about Dragon Age I sometimes forget you haven't played them all. So if we go by the "Andrastian" religion being an analogue for Christianity, then while most of the world is "Catholic", Tevinter would be Orthodox or Protestant. And an Archon is the political ruler of Tevinter (kinda like Emperor) and the Black Divine is their version of Pope (while other nations have their own Pope/Divine called the White Divine)

Or maybe your good one instead) - maybe ;)

Sounds good! But then again you also said that it'll be multi-part story, so it all can change. Maybe you'll come up with more dramatic final, and do some not-so-fluffy-things... - ummmm...

the author is right that the dialogue there sounds as if it was for kids. - I remember a comment about Netflix version of ATLA, that said "Animated show for kids is more mature and subtle than netflix 'more mature' adaptation".

In DA:O you could sacrifice an entire Elven Clan for power. In DA:V you can't even call anyone an idiot. - I also liked the choices in the first Witcher game, most of them had no real effect on the main story, but it was nice to have a choice of siding with humans, elves or being neutral, or the whole Vizima outskirts story.

nah, she's really good ;) - Okay, I'll trust you on that one)

              What is Mordhay?

I remember a comment about Netflix version of ATLA, that said "Animated show for kids is more mature and subtle than netflix 'more mature' adaptation". - I can believe that.

I also liked the choices in the first Witcher game, most of them had no real effect on the main story, but it was nice to have a choice of siding with humans, elves or being neutral, or the whole Vizima outskirts story. - first witcher was awesome! You could really see it was a passion project. And one act (5 if I recall) was all based on a Polish play that most kids learn at primary school - Balladyna. Not to mention plenty of nods to things trendy at the time.

Okay, I'll trust you on that one) - so nice to be trusted! (said Asami stabbing Korra in the back. But no, she's really good here!)

You and your ummm...'s xD - not saying!

Got en garde, played it a bit, finished episode I. Weeeell. I like the game! I like the humour the dynamic combat, the swashbuckling! Also, I don't like the combat :P In the way that I get it's very much a souls-lite but it's still too difficult to me and I've barely passed chapter I :P but I'm having fun so that's what's important. If I stop having fun, I'll decrease the difficulty to easy, but the game is really enjoyable ;)

              1. What is Mordhay? - Mordhau is a medieval hack and slash multiplayer game. Similar to Chivalry, if you've played it. Or you can imagine For Honor but from first person POV, and with less flashy combat. Fencing, different weapons, classes and all that. Quite interesting experience if you're interested in multiplayer battlefield fights with fencing being very close to HEMA.

first witcher was awesome! - Yes! But most of my friends started Witcher with the 3rd game and NEVER played first(and just a few played 2nd)... First is my favorite!!! It's probably my bias, but I've got so used to Witcher 1 system, that I couldn't get used to WItcher 2 at all)))

You could really see it was a passion project. - Yes x2! The atmosphere and the stories are sooo good!
I feel like I've experience all versions of the game The original with long loading screens and some bugs, the enhanced edition, the silver edition, the gold edition. I even have Collector's edition with a small book containing Adda chapter(the one that's in the cinematic opening for the first game) which is how I learned that Witcher is based on a book series, and it also included the map of Temeria on a satin paper(the one that is similar to comic books). Not as cool as the map of "City of the lost ships"(on a cloth) that was in Age of Pirates 2 collector's edition, but still a nice reminder of good old mid 2000s.
I spent so much time there, and replayed it a heck tone of times, to do all possible choices. And I still remember how I spent almost an hour on my first playthrough fighting a golem(it went like 15mins of swording him, then running out of combat, saving, returning and hitting him more).

And one act (5 if I recall) was all based on a Polish play that most kids learn at primary school - Balladyna. - Interesting, didn't know that!

(said Asami stabbing Korra in the back. But no, she's really good here!) - Hmmm....

                not saying! - Of course.

Weeeell. I like the game! I like the humour the dynamic combat, the swashbuckling! - That's good to know!

If I stop having fun, I'll decrease the difficulty to easy - That's the way. Nothing wrong with lowering difficulty if you're having troubles.

Yeah, I think Witcher 1 might also be my favourite ;) and yes, one of the reasons I couldn't get to Witcher 2 because the mechanics was so different (I preferred that in one).

That's the way. Nothing wrong with lowering difficulty if you're having troubles. - right now, more than two enemies at once is a biiiig problem for me, though how I defeated El Vigilante (Definitely Not Your Brother) only dying once while in other fights I died 15 teams is beyond me :P

EDIT: I actually got a cloth map of Ferelden from Dragon Age: Origins collector's edition.

I've had a horrible fight with some bosses, like constantly dying for an hour or more straight, but then next day defeating them first try without getting any damage... How's that possible?

I've got this issue of this magazine with this story, my mother bought it a year before I was born.

Wait till you learn about boss fight in Dark Souls 2 that can have up to 6 bosses at the time - but... but 6 is more than 1!

replayed the first chapter of En Garde and did much better this time! - Nice!

And I almost finished Rise of the Tomb Raider. Did all the tombs(just 9, expected a bit more tbh), Jonah is stupid, antagonist is also stupid, Lara is kinda inconsistent with her "I can't kill. No I must kill. No I shouldn't do it, actually I should've". And I can't understand why give the ability to dive under water, if it's only "a little bit under water" without full-fledged segments like in classic Tomb Raider games...

                          1. stun locking sucks! - It sucks, but what sucks more is when enemies interrupts ALL of your attacks and you can't interrupt ANY of the enemies attacks. One of the reasons I hate Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris battle system, such a trash decision, even if the enemy is a small bug it still stunlocks you and cancel any of your attacks...

Especially as yo usay there are ideas there for me to torment Lara. - I'd recommend playing Rise before you proceed with your fic, as for why I think so I won't say ;P
