Love this! Your take on the Dessendre family feels so true to them. I especially find compelling (and tragic) how it was Renoir's own (well-intentioned) mistakes that ended up perpetuating the (also well-intentioned) deception in Verso.
Speaking of Verso, I love how you characterized him in this fic and how he came to be the liar we all know and love. Both Aline and Renoir's depictions of him (the Axon/Canvas Verso) are liars, but we also know he loves his family, so this "origin story" slots so well into that. That ending note is just one of those gut-wrenching, heartbreaking "full circle" moments :(
