Comment on Another Shot At Us - KPop Demon Hunters

  1. That's fair! She definitely didn't hesitate to kill him in the movie 😅 I guess Zoey can get sentimental, but Rumi was so driven IMO because she saw herself in Jinu, which can't be said for Zoeystery.

They were considering having Celine kill Miyeong in the concept art, I think! But I can't see the version of Celine we got killing Miyeong (I think she loves her too much for that), but I can definitely see her accidentally (or "accidentally") killing Rumi's dad, maybe even convincing herself there was some coercion going on. I really want to know the exact timeline of Rumi's parents meeting, Rumi's birth, and Miyeong's death; I hope we get more info on this in the sequels.

I do use discord! Also not super active these days but always down to chat and make new friends :)

    1. True (nod nod)

That's also an interesting theory that Celine didn't kill Miyeong, but her disdain towards demons were somewhat really uncanny and seems to stem from Miyeong's death itself. And I hope too that they show these aspects in the sequels.

And another twist may be that Miyeong died while giving birth to Rumi because she's a half demon (and it may be hard for a human to nourish a half-demon foetus), and Celine was so affected by it that she lost all empathy she had left.

      (Are we twins XD)

      1. Celine is really interesting to me as a character. I can't decide what her deal is. She mostly just looked tired and worn down when we saw her in the movie, and I can't tell how much of her hatred is "this is what she was taught" (since Zoey and Mira really hate demons, too) and how much is "My best friend DIED because of demons".

I've wondered about the half-demon fetus thing too! Of course, part of that is probably because I will never forget the Twilight birth scene...I think it fits really well with some types of stories and I've incorporated it into my own, but like almost every other KDH theory, I'm open to pretty much any theory :P

Along these lines, one interesting theory another commenter had was that perhaps most humans can't even have demon babies, but Miyeong being a hunter let her at least carry Rumi to term even if it weakened her. Oh boy...if this is the case, Rumi's angst is going to get a lot worse pretty soon xd but probably good for Huntrix to know before they get too ahead of themselves.

        1. I agree. Celine is truly the only grey character apart from Jinu in the entire movie, layered and absolutely a breath of fresh air. For Zoey and Mira's hatred, I think it stemmed more from righteousness and duty than any inherent hatred towards them, while Celine's hatred seems very personal (even more from her "duty") probably because of Miyeong's death.

Exactly, it's my own theory that came from the Twilight scene itself because it is actually one hell of a true expression of bearing a hybrid baby especially when the mother is the weaker species.

It may be true as well but it's debatable in a way because they don't have any magical powers apart from being able to see the demons and summon their weapons from thin air. But again, it's also a theory whether the demon hunters have those powers from when they were born, or is it given to them as a boon later, because either of those plot elements can change a lot of our thought chain (including the hunters birthing half demons thing)

          1. Right! And you can tell because there's so much discourse about those two characters. The fact that Celine upsets so many people so viscerally, despite having such little screentime, is truly a testament to the writing of the movie IMO. The writers were able to remind people of their own generational trauma just in those few scenes.

I'm so glad the Rheumatoidme scene has impacted so many of us 😂😂 I have only seen the first movie and the birth scene and yeah! yeah. Hopefully Rumi didn't bite through her placenta or something (for Miyeong's sake).

The Huntrix are definitely much stronger physically than humans, though. They jump out of planes without breaking a sweat and are able to run/fly through the city very quickly. And yeah, that's something else the sequel needs to touch on...How exactly did they find these girls?

            1. They were reminding us of our own roots lmao.

I didn't watch any Twilight movie but the yt edits were all I needed to know XD

I don't think Rumi would though lol, she's still a gentle soul at the end of the day.

Exactly my point, what are the demon hunters' origin? Is it like that since their birth or are they trained that way before releasing them as a band?
