Lysander appearing out of nowhere, monologuing to himself is honestly the best parts of X,Y! I remember playing the game for a first time and being so confused, lmao.

It was so Odd, but I loved it so much I’ve introduced him early just so he can yap and be Incredibly Suspicious.
And yeah! Eds first battle. If Ash hadn’t stepped in it would have gone pear-shaped very fast, but Ed is also a fast learner. Ralts will be much more enthusiastic about battling after learning about a certain Gardevoir wielding champion.
If Ash didn't step in, I genuinely think Ed would have started throwing hands. As I wise man once said, "I won't resort to violence, that never solved anything! Apart from most problems, honestly."
