Comment on Idol: The Roar Of The Spark

  1. can i js say i rly like how denki asked monoma if it was "that hard to walk away with a shred of dignity" especially because he's kaigaku in this, because kaigaku has stated (and did) that he would willingly kneel and beg for his life if he had to, he would toss away his pride and dignity to be able to live another day, and it kinda parallels that scene because monoma just HAD to try and get another word in to save his pride, and while kaigaku is an asshole and prideful he also knows that pride doesn't matter when it's life or death. a phrase of his is "as long as you don't die, you haven't lost" and it showcases how he'll do anything to survive so that he can win another day, and that death is the only true loss in his mind. ik im probably reading too much into this one scene but there monoma parallels everything kaigaku was, in the way that even tho this isn't life or death denki went through a tragedy and even though he could've died, he didn't. when he was up against yoru he went over his limits and was out of commission for a few moments in a "dumbed down" state so-to-say, and even though it was likely a humiliating feeling and he could've given up but instead he pushed through to survive. monoma kept pushing the topic and the fact that 1-A thinks they're "better" than the others, he refused to let them walk away and save his dignity. he felt he had to get the last word in, he's definitely someone who wouldn't EVER consider kneeling to someone and begging for his life, especially not in this moment. and while denki didn't kneel or beg, he also refused to die.
kaigaku... it's hard to tell if he would've kept his mouth shut or not in monomas place, but the scene there showcases thaf he's not only kaigaku but he's also denki, and he's training to be a hero and to be better than he was in his past life. monoma refusing to back down because of his pride seem almost the exact opposite of something kaigaku would do, im aware that kaigaku is prideful but he also knows that when it comes down to living, he'd toss his pride in the trash without hesitation. monoma is the opposite, even after the day continued and the other students apologized to 1-A, he was still too prideful to apologize or even tone down the comments he made. he also isn't able to answer denkis question about what he would do in that same situation at USJ, and while he doesn't want monoma to experience that trauma, he knows that monomas pride likely would've influenced his actions or decisions.

i dont know if this makes much sense, but that single scene alone just made me feel like it was paralleling kaigakus ideals, kaigaku was someone who would drink water from mud, who would steal to feed himself, who would give up others to keep himself alive, and yet here he's also denki, and he doesn't want to be the kind of person who's too prideful to apologize, he doesn't want to give up others for himself, he doesn't want his pride to get in the way. monomas pride here got in the way, and he was left more humiliated than he would've been because of it......

SUPER LONG COMMENT SORRY 😭😭😭 i hope this makes sense... this fic series is so interesting to me, i have so much to say about bakugou as well but i fear i have an even worse fixation on akaza than kaigaku..... sorry if i may have butchered monomas character but he's very different in the early seasons compared to how he is in the later seasons.....

I know I’m not the best at writing, but I want to give you and the rest the readers here an experience you will never forget.
