Alas Miu's imperfect broken wing display was always going to be her end... but Narumi's future is unknown to me. In an earlier draft, she was going to jump from a window (and somehow live; birds can fly after all). Will the cats of Adachi feel a bittersweet pang of recognition when CD-135 next twinkles? Will Mao tell them what happened? Do he and Soseki ever go back? and other questions I don't know the answer to.
My first draft for post-fic Soseki was that he gets adopted by someone else in Umitsuki (Irene because I love her? Who's to say) but I'm not sure if the landlady would have let that happen. Maybe he goes to one of Irene's friends first, or maybe Irene brings Soseki home and the landlady has a change of heart because he's just a himbo among cats.
On geography, yes! Donichi has to be located pretty close to the wall around Hell's Gate for the rivers and municipal boundaries to make sense, potentially as little as half a mile, but in my mental map it's oriented to face away. It's newer construction, after all, and who wants to look at a gloomy structure like that in the distance?
random thought that just occurred to me - soseki vs mao's Very Intent lady stalker cat from The Collarbones Episode... soseki has to defend mao's honor!!! mao might be the hottest cat on the block but he's taken, ma'am!
