Comment on homesick for somewhere that doesn't exist

  1. Galinda is so interesting to write here-so much more observant and more empathetic too. That wasn't entirely where I thought it was going, but it's nice to write something that is more loosely adhering to canon while still saying in the canon universe. I think Frex is the only canon character I've never tried to humanize (because he always dies so early on) and it's nice to have a more straightforward villain to work with. He's just terrible. Obviously he's (probably) worse here than he's meant to be in Wicked canon but Galinda is really on to him right away.

    Lots of bad surprises for Galinda ahead. It's always interesting to write these kinds of stories where I know the twist and so does the audience but the characters don't, so it's just a slow build until they get to that moment of realization.
