Summary
“You’re… you’re the Iron Bandit,” the stable boy breathed, half in awe and half in terror, which was entirely reasonable considering said outlaw was still aiming a gun to his chest with a calculating glare.
But seeming to find no danger in the scruffy, wild-haired child who couldn’t be older than twelve, the outlaw lowered his gun and leant back into the stack of hay he had found himself resting against for the past hour. He’d planned to take one of the horses and rendezvous back with his crew, the infamous Avengers, but that’s the thing about bank robberies. They tended to end in shootouts, which usually ended in a situation like this.
“Oh my god… you’re- you’re bleeding,” the boy suddenly stuttered as he realised the deep crimson blood that had pooled onto the stable floor beneath the outlaw’s leg.
The Iron Bandit huffed, dropping his head back against the hay as another wave of exhaustion rolled over him. “That’s usually what bullets do.”

Summary
After joining the notorious gang of bandits known as the Avengers almost six months ago, Peter had learnt two things very quickly. One, nature was filled with wonderful, beautiful creations, from the land to the animals to the ever-expanding sky that watched over them. And two, nature was absolutely brutal.
But even if the road was harsh and the seasons unforgiving, it seemed far less daunting with a team as fierce as the Avengers at his side. The sun less blazing when the Iron Bandit dropped his hat over Peter’s head, and the rain less icy when a familiar black jacket was draped over his shoulders.
Tony never said a word when he made such gracious gestures, and Peter never dared to mention them in fear of him taking it back. Not that the bandit ever would. No, if there was one thing Peter was certain of, it was that the Iron Bandit was a man of his word. The promise he had given the boy to keep him alive, to keep him safe since that night back at the farm had never once been broken, and there was not a day that went by that Peter didn’t silently thank the man for all he had done.

Summary
“Kid… Kid, wake up,” Tony started in a whisper, though his words seemed to fall on deaf ears as the shudders only worsened. It pained the outlaw to see, but he was no stranger to the terrors the mind could hold, and he was determined not to let Peter suffer in his own any longer.
“Come on kid, it’s just a bad dream,” Tony implored as gently as he could force his voice to be. “Snap out of it Pete- just wake up.”

Summary
“So, do I get to join you for your adventure today?” the boy asked cheerily as he laid the blanket out and lifted the saddle on top of it.
“I assumed you would be,” Tony said nonchalantly, though it made Peter’s heart swell with an unexpected sense of belonging. “Unless of course you wanna go join Bird Brain or Ice Cap for a change of company?”
There wasn’t even a moment of hesitation before Peter shook his head and replied, “I’d like to stay with you- if… if you don’t mind…”
The sheepish twinge in Peter’s voice had the bandit softening for just a moment, before he concealed it behind a sharp sniff and said, “Alright then. The sooner we saddle up, the sooner we can head out.”
“And where are we going to this time?” Peter asked excitedly as he began fitting the saddles on with practiced hands.
An uncharacteristically fond smile flashed across the bandit’s features before he replied simply “Home.”
