Summary
Lena “Warsong” Rabinovich survives the war only to be stranded in the long after. 1945–present: a decade-spanning ghost story where the ghost is a woman who won’t stop living. She buries names, and learns how to be useful instead of happy. Grief becomes a country she knows by heart, Steve gone to the ocean, Bucky to the snow, and Lena lives in the border towns between memory and myth, building quiet safehouses for people the world tries to erase.
Then the news says a star-spangled ghost has stepped out of the ice.
Finding Steve hurts in the way healing always does. It cracks open everything she sealed shut. And when a metal-armed phantom carves a path through her second life, Lena recognizes the shape of the loss before she knows the name of it. Bucky is alive. He doesn’t remember. She does.
This is the story of what grief makes, what love rebuilds, and the stubborn domesticity carved between.
