Summary
Many years after the events of the Grudge movies and Code 8 series, the Grudge curse comes to an end, many of Kayako's victims were freed and lived a normal life, including Kayako herself, who has lived a comfortable and happy marriage with her current and loving partner, Connor Reed, and their family comprised of their 3 daughters: Karen, Aubrey, and Manami Reed, as well as Kayako's son Toshio from her former marriage to Takeo Saeki.
Currently, the Saeki-Reed family are having a movie night on Halloween, and all were dressed in their costumes, excited for the big night.
How long would they last during the movie night without any jumpscares? Time will tell.
Disclaimer: This would be my take on what would've happened years after the events of the Grudge films and the events of the Code 8 series where in an alternate universe, the Code 8 series occurs around the same timeline as the Grudge movies where instead, Takako Fuji still remains Kayako Saeki.
And my take on Kayako is a grounded and more human, relatable take on the onryõ that rose to popularity since the beginning of the Ju-On series.
